Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hello all. Does anyone know if the marketplace at the BC sell cabernet sauvignon?

Not sure about BC, but the market at Ale and Compass at YC had at least three different brands of Cabernet Sauvignon in October that you could purchase by the bottle. They also had those single cup type containers of Woodbridge CS.

I can't answer about the BC Marketplace either, but to add to @gillep's excellent adivice, here is what was available at the Market at Ale & Compass this past weekend:

For cabs, it looks like:

BR Cohn
Chateau Smith
Simi
Woodbridge (individual servings)

I'd need others to vouch if any of these are any good! LOL!

HAHAHA I have that exact same picture on my phone I was just too lazy to email it to myself to get it the correct size to post. The Simi is my go to CS at home. I have quite a few bottles and often go up to that winery to taste some of their reserve bottles.

Ha! I just happen to be going through my weekend photos at this very moment and for some unknown reason I actually took a picture of that table. We're not even wine drinkers! If I were smarter I would have taken a closer pic of the wine/price list as it's not legible even when I zoom in.

The Private Dining menu lists a bottle of the Simi as $69. I'm going to guess that's a pretty hefty markup?

I also didn't get a pic with discernible prices, go me! Yes, that's quite the markup, wow. I also found at AKL that the price on the private dining menu for one of the wines I like was more expensive than in the shop, so it helps to shop around a bit.

Speaking of looking through my pics, I don't like to complain about resorts/noise... stuff happens, they have to do work, etc., But I really wanted to :mic: at this Bobcat driver who was out there on the beach working since around 5am this AM. Every time that thing would back up - BEEP, BEEP, BEEP. Then a guy with the blower in SAB started up. All before 6am. Pic was taken a bit later when the sun was up, work still in progress. Not quite sure what they were doing - it was back/forth all over the beach area, I assume just sand grading/smoothing.

We really loved our Water View YC room, but maybe not at this particular moment in time. :-)

Ok, rant over. Other than that, had a great quick weekend YC stay!

That would make me mad too. I’m a light sleeper and the backing up of trucks wakes me up almost instantly. I’m glad your stay was still good!

Maybe he was your alarm clock to get up and enjoy the beautiful looking morning!

I can never fall back asleep if something wakes me up in the night, but I'm also a morning person and would very much enjoy an early morning walk with that view.

We were in DHS yesterday morning and took the Friendship boat to Yacht Club around 11 am. When we arrived at the dock we could see two small tractors grooming the sand next to the dock. They looked like they were just about done for the day.

We also walked past the new cabanas and the area looks like it is finished. The cabanas are under the trees in the corner closest to the Yacht Club marina. It doesn't take up very much space and is in an area that wasn't utilized very much anyway.

We'll be moving from the Wilderness Lodge to the Beach Club tomorrow and looking forward to spending the day at SAB. :)

So, that's about it on Room 3209 / 2 Bedroom Suite-Club Level Access.

*snip*

Always happy to answer any questions, just let me know. Thanks!

I already said "Thanks!", but "Thanks, again" for such a detailed, picture-filled, comprehensive review.

I added links to your posts to the Deluxe & Suite thread- which I hope to revise someday- if wishes were horses...

Your review is an extremely helpful especially since there is so little info about these rooms!

Thanks for taking us along on your walk!

We walked to HS today. It was an easy walk! Room 7:56( shortly before we left) by boat dock 8:03 by the big BOARDWALK sign at start of walkway 8:08: at park entrance around 8:15 and in line for Starbucks 8:28.

Fantastic info! Thanks!

On this past Tuesday's DisUnplugged Podcast, Pete was raving about a candle company named Magic Candles. He even gave a code (Disneyinfo) for 15% off. They make candles that smell like different Disney Resorts, rides, etc. Of course, I had to buy the one called Beach Resort. It really smells like I am sitting in the lobby of the Beach Club and is making me very happy.

Can you share the website or other ordering info? Is this the same as "Magic Candle Company" that has a "Yacht Club" candle?

There are so many options out there, and when we have actual endorsements I like to be able to share that info.

Thanks.

:cool2:

Not sure if it’s been posted yet or not, sorry not all caught up, starting March 17th Hurricane Hanna’s will have extended hours, dinner available until 10 instead of 8!

Great info! I have some updating of the dining post and I will add this.

Thanks!

:thanks:

A couple of transportation questions, as I review the info on Page 1, Post 1:

1. Do strollers need to be emptied and folded when you board the Friendship boats?

2. Info as of 2015 indicates there is a bus to the front of EPCOT in the afternoons (I believe that had something to do with transportation to the waterparks). Is this still the case?

I know I have asked before, but what is the procedure for getting to Disney Springs and to the Water Parks using Disney transportation from the Y&BC? Is there a change depending on time of year?

If there is someone there now, could you snap a picture of the sign at the bus stop?

:car:

:thanks:

The AP rates are amazing, aren’t they? I got a water view for early May at under $350 a night. I could’ve done CL for around $100 a night more, just couldn’t justify it. It’s just me and my grandson and we won’t be there during serving times. I sure was tempted! But I’m thrilled with the rates. I’ve got a quick weekend trip scheduled for the end of October on a public discount and paying $470 for a standard view. I’m hoping they come out with some more awesome discounts for that one as well and maybe we’ll give CL a try, never done it before.

Is your October trip at the Yacht or Beach Club?

Has anyone noticed that Deluxe rooms are currently not an online booking option at the YC? Any ideas out there, other than a glitch, why not?

The BC shows Deluxe available.

Also, it is strange that BWI still offers Deluxe, including CL benefits, while CL benefits were removed from Deluxe rooms at YC & BC. The difference in benefits is reflected in the higher BWI room rates for Deluxe.

I don’t think I have ever seen deluxe rooms available to book online. I actually only knew they have them because it was offered as a bounceback option a few years ago. BC always shows them, but I really don’t think they ever show for YC.

Also, I think this is the first year that BC removed CL access. Many people complained over the years about the distance some of the rooms were from the lounge & that they didn’t get much use out of the lounge because of that. So Disney made them non club & decreased the cost to those rooms. Hopefully someone else will have more info.

Great question about these elusive rooms. The only room which is less documented is the Secret Moms' Fantasy Closet.

I love, love, love the detailed Beach Club and Yacht Club room layout maps, but I can't read 'em? Trying to figure out the room category by color does not work for me. How many YC Deluxe rooms are there (were there?) and what are the room numbers. I'm thinking 3201 and 4201. Does that sound right?

:confused3

Don’t think this was posted here yet....but read in a FB group that the new cabanas offer a 15% AP discount. Just a heads up for any passholder looking to book (or who already did and paid full price!!)

Thanks so much for this very helpful tip!!!

:thumbsup2

Hi everyone! We’re planning an extended family trip in mid-Jan 2020 (either second or third week, TBD). Booking through a TA and likely planning BC, but YC would also be fine if it comes up with better pricing! We basically want a deluxe resort with the most reasonable pricing we can find and good theming and kid friendly. I have stayed at BC without kids and I think my kids would LOVE Stormalong Bay!

We will have 2 grandparents, a family of 4 with kids 8 & 5 (mine), and another family of 4 with kids 6 & 4, and an additional grandmother staying with the third group. 11 total people. We’re most likely booking 3 standard view rooms and requesting connecting where possible, but I was wondering if the friendly folks on here know of any other room configurations that might be good for us to consider?

Also, not sure if anyone would know this, but is it going to be difficult for us to get both connecting standard view rooms plus full balconies? With the young kids, we were hoping to be able to put the kids to sleep and be able to hang out with other adults on a balcony or in a connecting room. For this reason, if getting both is tough at BC with all the Juliet balconies, I was wondering if we should book YC instead.

I’d appreciate any insights!

:welcome:

I'll pencil you in on the Be Our Guest list, Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

I'm not going to post all of the really helpful suggestions, but yes, much better chance of getting full balconies at Yacht Club, so then you can concentrate on requesting connecting rooms. And if I am not mistaken, I think the YC has been running at lower room rates for the most part lately.

And kudos to @focusondisney for suggesting that you request the rooms with the "Super Balcony" that is shared between several rooms. That would be perfect for your group!

I haven’t stayed in one, but I do think 3201 & 4201 are the only 2. And :ssst:on the secret closet.

Yes, Magic Candle has a "Yacht Club" candle scent. The website is magiccandlecompany.com. The discount code is Disneyinfo; this code will give you 15% off each time you order.

Speaking of scents, we LOVE to put the Green Clover and Aloe smell in my diffuser at home for a touch of Disney. I got it in Disney Springs at the Market Place Co-op. It's made by Bowes Signature Candle and if you put those together with a period and com on the end, they seem to have a website.

This is more of a general question not just related to the Yacht/Beach Club. I saw a picture someone posted on another site of channel on their tv in the resort. It was a disney parks music channel where it looked like it played all music you would find inside the parks/rides. Is this a relatively new channel? I don't remember ever seeing this on our previous trips.

Not there now, but my information is from 3 weeks ago.

1. Not empty or folded, but they have to be in the back of the boat. Not outside back, but behind the seats there is an open area that they have to be parked in.

2. No bus to Epcot. Water park transportation:

Typhoon Lagoon - bus to Disney Springs, transfer to TL bus.

Blizzard Beach & Winter Summerland Mini golf - bus to Animal Kingdom, transfer to BB bus.

I don’t have a picture of the bus times board, but I noticed a phone at the YC bus stop that I think is relatively new. At least I don’t remember it before. I took a picture of that.
