Confused about entry in SWGE & HS in general

Reading through the WDW site, there are major disclosures they are putting up about how access to Hollywood Studios and SWGE are not guaranteed due to capacity limitations - with no real clear direction on how access will be granted, etc, with exception of Disneyland which is going to be a Rez system. We booked our Sept 28th trip a back in Jan (thinking SWGE will open in Nov/Dec).

We will be booking our ADRs this month, plus in July we will be making our FP+ for HS for 6 rides *we will be using the CL FP purchase*

So my question is - since Disney isn’t posting the access policy, and lets say we can’t get into the park, how will this all play out with loosing my FP+, ADRs, etc.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster to ruin people’s trip. Especially if they are staying at a WDW resort.

They are leaving this way to open without much guidance how this is going to work.

Perhaps i’m Jumping the gun - I have to re-work our ITN with SWGE as our original plans didn’t take it into account.

Phase 4 Park Closing

I understand CL FPP wont cover SWGE ride, but we would have all the other rides we would be locking in.

So essentially HS would have to go through a Phase4 closing for a WDW resort guest to get locked out from entering the park?

Has a Phase 4 ever happened at WDW before?

Your Resort will be announcing the closures so if they announce a Phase 2, make plans to head to DHS.

No Phase 4 closures noted for recent NYEs. @rteetz may have stats.

In the past 10 year, mk April 7 2009 has been the only phase 4 closure according to tp

My gut would tell me there is a good possibility for a Phase4 closing. I was at HS last November, and I must say it’s a much smaller park than MK, Epcot, etc.

I’ll keep an eye on the Disney news on how they plan to manage the access to HS. IT seems they figured it out for DIsneyland, which guarantees onsite guests a rez to SWGE. Wondering how that will also play out for WDW.

Logistically, it’s a lot harder to turn away a paid resort guest I would think.

It's not like they want to turn people away, it's a matter of safety.
Having 3 other theme parks makes it easier, they are counting that people are not here just for one land or one park (even though some might)

If they require an entry pass/return time for SWGE I’m not sure they will get to phase 4.

Closed to all guests.

So on another forum someone was saying they were going to had a breakfast reservation at HS they were going to just keep to ensure that they can get into the park. Am I right in thinking that being a resort guest gives you just as much guarantee to getting into the park as having a reservation from this write up? Friends of mine were saying they were planning on doing this and I thought it was a bit extreme to say the least. At least if its the case that it makes no difference if you area resort guest I can tell them not to bother!

if you are a resort guest you will still be able to get in if it hits Phase 3. You will only be blocked out if it hits Phase 4

On New Year’s Eve when MK hit a phased closing in the morning, resort guests got an alert that MK was closed to guests. There was no mention in the message that it was a phased closing. If they send out that same message, people are going to think that the park is closed to everyone.

Here’s the thread that has the message.

Thanks! I will be planning on telling them this later to ensure they don't take someone's dining spot up just for nothing!

Yes it’s pretty common on New Years for MK to hit the first phase closure which basically only blocks out those with a one day ticket. Thought if you have an ADR or FP you’re fine. It’s rare for the parks to close much further than that.

I know it’s common. I just mean guests weren’t alerted to the fact that it was a phase 1 or 2 closing. The only info. they were given was that MK was closed to guests. People came to the disboards or various blogs to find out what phase closing it was actually at.

I’m guessing that will happen at HS. It may just be a phase one closing, but guests may not get that correct info. It will certainly deter a lot of people from heading out if they simply get the message that HS is closed.

I think part of that is intentional by Disney. If they post that general message that will deter it from closing even further.

Im concerned about getting into the park later in the day for dinner ADRs ( Fantasmic etc ). I am not there for SW and hoping that with FP and dinner ADR, we can go in and do what we plan to do without major issues. I'm hoping that hours will be extended ( we will be there Sept 4-13) and hoping maybe 2 Fantasmic shows. Maybe even additional EMHs- Right now with the only one being on a Sunday, I need to re-evaluate if I want to deal with that or just reshuffle park days and ADRs...

it would have to be completely closed at Phase 4 for you not to be able to get it if you have an ADR

If they require an entry pass/return time for SWGE I’m not sure they will get to phase 4.

Let's keep hoping for this. If they look at the opening of the Wizarding Worlds at Universal Orlando, they will see a pretty well thought example. I think requiring people to stand in a line all day line is asking for trouble.
