San Jose TSA is no joke. Or apparently my 5’5” blonde DD18 looks like a terrorist. They did not like her ID. Her DL that she has used to fly for several trips and never been an issue. Our under 21 DLs are sideways. The guy did not like it. She said he got some Book of IDs out and claimed it didn’t match. Called 3 other people over to look at it. I guess someone finally said it was OK. She is my high anxiety child. I imagine she was freaking out.

I didn't realize anyone still used the horizontal for under 21. I was so glad that they didn't change to vertical until after I turned 21 though because I think they are awful looking. I have to get a new DL before my bday in May and I think I'm going to spend the extra 20 bucks to get the enhanced one so I don't have to travel domestically with my passport. I'd worry too much that I'd lose it and it's just not worth the hassle for saving 20 which is really only 4 per year over the course of the ID. My mom got the regular and it says something like not/non federally compliant or something close to that, I also don't want an ID that says that cause it sounds like I've done something wrong :rotfl2:

We LOVE Colorado!!! Awesome skiing in Winter Park, Keystone and Vail. Monarch reminds me of the hills here in MI so meh. I lived in Greeley. Founded by Horace Greeley. Moved to Colo. Springs. DH was stationed at Peterson AFB.

Does this look familiar?

Gas & Grass View attachment 388040, that's just crazy!!!
:rotfl:Oh yeah, that is classic! Gas & Grass lol. I have a Native Roots just minutes from my house and right by the Costco I go to all the time. I literally *just* found out Monday night what that store sells  You would think the synapses are firing and I would have figured it out long ago but nope :D Oh and I didn't find out by going in but a friend at basketball practice told me lol! I had no idea it was sold so close to me!

ETA: How was living in Greeley? My dd toured the college there and loved the school. My dh said he kept getting wifts of cow poo...

It was good, very poor community when we were there early 70's. My dad was on the police force. The biggest news that ever hit was the Mexican restaurant being held up for $20 bucks. It was called the El Sombrero, the first ever fast food with a drive thru window. It was shaped exactly like a humongous Sombrero! They caught the guys who pulled it off. Heard about that for years even after it closed down. In all it really was like the Andy Griffin show with Barney Fife. Fun!

This is the house we lived in back then. It looks small but it isn't. 1301 14th Street. I was seven years old when we moved to Colo. Spgs.

My sisters were happy about the move when I asked why they told me about the old lady who lived with us. :scared: Yeah, they didn't say a word while we were there maybe because I was too young. What was strange is that my oldest sis said she smelled bad perfume like musk and the other said it was something rotting and I clearly remember smelling roses - in the basement. There was a built in cabinet down there too featuring a mirror with gold dust. With a flashlight you could see the gold sparkle. The cabinet doors would magically open and they were fastened with a locking skeleton key. I don't know how it opened all the time but I do remember that. And there was also a swishing sound. They told me it was the old woman and they saw her. Yeah, woof! There were also two grave stones in the back of the house - now that freaked me out. I could clearly see that! I'm thinking those were for pets.

The manure smell is imitating from the slaughterhouse, I forget where that is. I also remember hearing the sound of a train when it was dark and quite outside. I use to ride my bike to the Horace Greeley museum on 714 8th St. This was during a time when life was still full of innocence and as a child we could explore freely without worries. It was a good life.

Ah, what a cute house and a neat story about your growing up! I grew up in a very small town in SE TX and I rode all over on my bike. My mom said bye to me in the morning and to be home by dinner. She didn't see me all day but never worried. I was out and off, visiting neighbors, and seeing the town. Can you even imagine allowing your kids to venture far out of your sight today?!?! ( not sure if you have kiddos...) But I watch mine like a hawk. Sadly.

Same! Like a hawk!

DH's CIP has the AF on this billing so we need to PC it. Going to do the CIU since he already has one and I want him to get the CIC down the road for the SUB. (Even though Chase has me on a smoldering burn with the current rumor of no more cruises. :badpc: I'm sure I can come up with a third use of the points.) Do you think it would make any difference if we apply for a second CIP for him either before or after the PC to a CIU? I am just so leery of breaking the rules again after getting caught in the DD debacle last September. If DH gets shut down he will be a widower and I will be 6 feet under in the back field!
If his first CIP was with SSN, I recommend self-referring for CIP #2 with EIN before downgrading CIP #1 to CIC/CIU. You get 20k more UR from that route as opposed to grabbing CIP #2 after the PC (100k vs. 80k).

If you're going to be applying for a second CIP anyway, then might as well go for the most points possible.

@Alexle2007 - did you make it to the Bethany Beach Residence Inn?

I'm thinking of another little winter getaway and they have the Spring Fling promo, which gives you a 20$ credit at the restaurant and bar. And, I also have the gift card which will take care of it. I want to do 2 Hyatt nights on their promo and I was thinking of doing a little hotel hopping.

With my stash of gas cards and restaurant cards, it's pretty much a paid for getaway outside of paying for the Hyatt. And of course I'll go weekdays to get the much lower rates.
Unfortunately, we have not made it there. Maybe I’ll check Easter weekend since we decided to stay local for the brief Spring Break the kids get. We were planning to head to Hershey for part of it.

I have us booked (2 rooms) on my UR at a Hilton. I plan to get the Aspire to help offset resort fee and I already have plans max out the other benefits of the card making it worth it. Better to get the card in my name or P2s? I don't know that status will do much for us, but just in case, does it matter?

I'm feeling so much better today, just purely exhausted and hurting joints. My goal is In-n-Out for dinner, even if it's only half of a #2 protein style.

Which Hilton? The Aspire comes with Diamond status, which is Hilton’s highest elite tier, so it may be worth it to get the card for the reservation holder. @calypso726 and @disneymagicgirl can probably speak more to the benefits.

Just an FYI: In order to get the resort credit the HIlton must be on the Hilton Resort list. Not all Hiltons are considered resort properties. There are 224 and can be found searching here https://www3.hilton.com/en/resorts/index.html

Status has gotten us early check in, late check out, upgrades to access club level which resulted in saving us a LOT of money in Iceland. Food there is rather expensive and we mostly at in the club except for dinner. Status will also allow us free breakfast, afternoon tea and happy hour next week in the Maldives where a club sandwich can run $30.

Now, since your stay was paid with points via UR you may not get any status benefits. This seems to be a YMMV situation. I'd get the card in the name of the person that the reservation is under.

Gotta say, personally, I love the Aspire card and am even planning on working our way to having a second one for each of us.

You weren't asking me, but I'll add my experience here. We stayed for a week at Harbor Lake last year in a 2br. It's really nice, and definitely great for kids. The pool has a pirate ship structure and slide and the kids love it. If you're looking for quiet, relaxing pool time, it may disappoint. There's also a mini golf.
Thanks...we don’t have little kids anymore...but it sounds like we would enjoy the resort

From the DPs on here and reddit it doesn’t seem to matter with Chase...just save a self referral to use if you downgrade it and reduce CLS if needed on his other cards

When we cut our CLs with chase what’s the target we’re going for? I want to do that with our accounts but don’t want to go too low.

Should I also be doing it for other ccs besides chase?

I’ve cut mine to 20-30% of household income....I’ve seen it’s recommended to be under 50% with Chase
Haven’t cut CLs with other issuers

The power has been out since this morning at my dh's work...Sadly, it came back up this evening and dh has had his network guys bringing back up the servers all evening. Looks like work will be on tomorrow :( Jeffco closed though so my dd16 doesn't have to go (she goes T/TH) and my dd18's school closed so she is home too.

Hope you get to stay home too!
I was just joking with DH I have no messages, we probably paid extra to get the power back first...
We had to dramatize everyone else's winter weather a few weeks back so now us CO peeps want our turn
Ha I just want us day shift people to get a day off too! My work never closes. Twice in four years and both times its been at the end of first shift and back the next morning

Hi! I got my Amex Hilton biz card on Saturday, I already completed about 1/2 the msr so I went ahead and applied for the Citi AA platinum plus. I was instantanly approved. Should I ask for the match to the 75K points now? When I get the card? Or when I hit the msr?
As always THANK YOU for all your help and knowlege

I sent the request once adding it to my online account, which with Citi (for me) I haven't been able to do until I get the card.

So, my biggest use of Gyft so far has been Target and Walmart GCs with my CIC for 5x URs. Realized yesterday that all along I probably would have been better off just using a Visa card in store at Sam's and getting 2% Dosh + 5% Uber credits + whatever Visa points with the choices being SW card, Marriott card, 1x UR card, 2% cashback, or Disney Visa. And especially when Dosh runs their 8% promos. Lol.

You could probably go to Universal cheaper. It's over $300 a night for Easter weekend.

I will do one night in late March, depending on which day is nice weather! I did notice they have a salt water pool with a roof that opens, as well as an outdoor pool.

Edited to add: I guess it will be an excellent value for a 50K certificate in July. It's $800 before taxes.

We are well under 50% of our income for most of ours

Since you said "most of ours" I just wanted to make sure you're adding up all your Chase CL's to compare to household income, not the individual card CL's. Chase is looking at the person as a whole to assess how much credit they've extended across all cards, both business and personal. So if you personally have 3 cards, one at 30k, one at 15k, and another at 5k, then you have 50k in credit extended. If your HHI is 100k, then you've reached that 50% threshold that starts making auto approvals iffy; if you're HHI is 150k, then you're at 33% and still good.

They seem willing to extend more credit than 50% of income, but you have a better chance of getting auto approved for it if your existing CL's are under it. Chase for a long time was happy to give me 60% of my reported income. But I was at half or below that before I applied for each card. And just because we're discussing it I'll also mention that there seems to be a ceiling that they don't like to cross regardless of reported income, I think it was mentioned around 70k in CLs.
