Quoting myself for a quick update. I just caught up on the Chase Freedom 5% categories so I think I should apply for the Freedom first and then the Amex. Does this plan sound okay. I need to wait though b4 applying for the Freedom though correct, since I just got my CSP in Feb?

Most recommended waiting 2-3 months between Chase apps...but I’ve done it once a month apart....just look at your CLs and reduce if needed

Namely, is the Disney Chase a ‘good’ offer with worthwhile benefits and which cards are best for hotel points? Also, I completely understand if these questions are so basic that I just need to read through and go from there :tilt:
Thanks in advance!

Hi! You'll find out quickly enough that the Chase Disney card isn't recommended much, if at all, on this board. Chase Biz cards are the hot recommendations around here.

Many of us here have business cards with only a "business", such as babysitting, selling on ebay, tutoring, etc.

Or at least "good intentions" of starting that "business"...:goodvibes

Applied for the Barclay Aviator Biz and got the we need more info message. It said they would call me or mail me info. I applied with my actual side business income numbers so I can answer questions but is it better to wait for the letter? I got a hard pull on TransUnion.

I’m curious about the lowering of the CL for Chase - how does Chase know household income? Is it only self reported in applications?
There is an online status page here https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/cas/applications/search?PARTNERID=BUSINESS. I'm not sure, but I would guess Chase only knows your household information based on what you reported to them.

Since you said "most of ours" I just wanted to make sure you're adding up all your Chase CL's to compare to household income, not the individual card CL's. Chase is looking at the person as a whole to assess how much credit they've extended across all cards, both business and personal. So if you personally have 3 cards, one at 30k, one at 15k, and another at 5k, then you have 50k in credit extended. If your HHI is 100k, then you've reached that 50% threshold that starts making auto approvals iffy; if you're HHI is 150k, then you're at 33% and still good.

They seem willing to extend more credit than 50% of income, but you have a better chance of getting auto approved for it if your existing CL's are under it. Chase for a long time was happy to give me 60% of my reported income. But I was at half or below that before I applied for each card. And just because we're discussing it I'll also mention that there seems to be a ceiling that they don't like to cross regardless of reported income, I think it was mentioned around 70k in CLs.
Oh!! Yeah I need to go through them all with Dh and see where we’re at. He’s just been really busy lately with his interview stuff.

Can I float an Amex idea out here...

I'm getting ready to apply for Bonvoy Biz for DH. I think he should have no issue getting this as he's been an Amex customer since 2012 and I've been putting some consistent spend on that card (Delta Gold) recently. I need to get him a Hilton Biz too though... so I'm thinking maybe 91 days after approval for Bonvoy Biz, I go for Hilton Biz? You only need 90 days between apps right? I will need both Marriott and Hilton points for our Japan trip next year, so I have a plan for them.

Thinking I'll go for CIP #2 for him on 4/1 since I got him his CSP on 12/28.

The 90 days criteria for AmEx credit cards is no more than 2 within a rolling 90 days period. There's also a only 1 within a rolling 5 day criteria. So - if he hasn't gotten any AmEx credit cards lately, you can do Hilton and Bonvoy as short as 5 days apart from each other.

The AmEx rule is 2/90 - can do 2 credit cards within 90 days. So if that's the only 2 cards you're looking at you don't seem to be restricted. It'd just depend on timing your MSR windows. I vaguely recall a 1/5 rule where you can only have 1 credit card app every 5 days, so may need to wait a week-ish in between.

Oh good to know, thanks! Yeah we wouldn't be able to hit MSR that fast, but if I finish up Bonvoy early then I'll definitely go ahead and get Hilton too. My tax return finally showed up as "received" on the website today, so I'm thinking we should have that before too long and that will finish off Citi and put some more towards my Hyatt MSR too.

Got my Companion Pass today! All of my flights are set now and everyone is booked.

On release day SW charged $14.90 tax to Hawaii on 4 of my flights. Then when I added companion 1 it was only $5.60. I planned to reach out to them eventually, but they auto-refunded that a few days ago. So my total out of pocket is a little lower now. One of the flights dropped in points so got 3484 RR back already. Now I need to decide if I'm going to leave my flights as they are or try to alter a little when more are released.

I'm debating mixing a few MCGCs from the grocery store in for an AMEX MSR... I can definitely do one $5k MSR with organic spend but ideally I'd like to try and pull a Plat offer for DH and also take my SPG personal offer upgrade. I would aim for Plat first and then could do my upgrade offer just before the 4/24 expiration, to give myself around 4 months for $10k total. $10k would be a stretch unless I can do around $3000 in MCGCs split between the two cards, that I could use towards our car loans. I think I'd be okay if they're spread out, but I'm feeling nervous!

I've got $700 to go on my CIC, $3200 on my Arrival Plus... and I still want to try for a 2nd CIP for DH next week :D But I've got about $10k in hand earmarked for car payoff, so I'll happily pay a Plastiq fee to use it towards MSRs

I usually pass over the bank bonus info, but am finally considering one. Is the Chase one a good start? Seems easy enough since it is not that much money tied up. Will go for the PNC also, but waiting till I need the spend on a new card. Tried the M&T one because that one seemed easy, but despite my state being listed, when I put in my Zip it says I am not eligible.
Boo! I just completed the $500 on 3/12 and 3/13 I was $250 richer. Just made the request to transfer the funds back to our CU account so I can open an account for DH.

Which Chase account are you looking at? If you are going for both the checking and savings bonus, you will have cash tied up for a bit. My $10k is sitting there making a whopping $.08 a month until I can reduce it to $1.5k in 3 months.
