The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

We just renewed for our 2019-20 season as well - even better, our neighbors decided to sign up too and have the seats right next to us! :)

Our season has:

Summer - The Donna Summer Musical (no clue about this one?)
The Band's Visit
Mean Girls
Anastasia
Jesus Christ Superstar
My Fair Lady
Frozen

I think my wife and neighbor are planning on taking the neighbor's two girls to Frozen - I'm ok giving that ticket up. ;)
Is your season in Minneapolis by any chance?

PPAC just released their show lineup for the 2019/2020 season and I am SO excited!

Come From Away
Escape to Margaritaville
Spongebob
Dear Evan Hanson
Aladdin
JC Superstar
Hello Dolly
Fiddler on the Roof

I'm not HUGE on Dolly or Fiddler, but I'm waiting to see if there are any reviews of the new productions before I decide if we'll opt out of one. If Betty Buckley were going on tour with Dolly it'd be a no brainer, but I don't think we'll be that lucky!

We just saw Betty Buckley in Hello Dolly

Our 2019-2020 season has
Anastasia
Jesus Christ Superstar
Dear Evan Hanson
Frozen
Mean Girls
Come From Away
My Fair Lady

We had/have Aladdin, Fiddler on the Roof and Hello Dolly this season.
Aladdin was a bit of a disappointment after seeing the one in DCA so many times. It just didn't do it for me, guess I'm spoiled. :)

I saw To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway last week-- amazing, amazing show, horrible behavior from patrons. One woman was reprimanded three times for taking photos by other patrons and was texting all throughout Atticus' closing statement. I have no idea where the ushers were during any of this.

The last time we saw Hello Dolly in Providence Carol Channing was in it. That was a great show. We will be thrilled if Betty Buckley does this tour.

We had Anastasia this year, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the way they use LED screens for the set. I have an unpopular opinion about the way the show ended, but overall we liked it!

Any other Paper Mill people here?

Again I’m disappointed in the shows.... not sure what I’ll do.... probably just 3 again...

Chances they actually do the Andrew Lloyd Webber show this year?

Incase anyone is interest shows are
Unmasked - Andrew Lloyd Webber show which they cancled this year
Cinderella
Sister act
Chasing Rainbows the road to oz (about Judy garland)
The Wanderer based on rock and roll hall of fame legend Dion

I don't mind the choices (was hoping the ALW show would still come!) but Cinderella is a repeat from since we've been subscribers- but not the same show that was recently on Broadway with Laura Osnes. The Wanderer seems to be of the recent genre - Memphis, Jersey Boys, A Bronx Tale, My British Invasion.... I hope it's as enjoyable - we saw Dion in person at an outdoor concert years ago - he was very entertaining. Not sure what to expect.

I would not be happy with that line up.

I saw Sting in The Last Ship on the weekend.
Not the best musical I've ever seen, but a solid show and all 5 in my party enjoyed it.
This weekend I'm seeing Dear Evan Hansen.
June has The Book of Mormon (4th time) and The Lion King.
In July I'm seeing Waitress.

Recently renewed for the 2019/20 season.
Girl From The North Country
Hamilton
The Band's Visit
Hello Dolly
Anastasia
Piaf/Dietrich

Finally have fallen in love with Be More Chill. I am hoping they tour it around so I can see it. Currently obsessed with Wonderland. Not a great show, but would be a blast to do in community theater.

After all my bashing I saw Mama Mia. I knew about half the cast, so I went closing weekend. The show is catchy and the talent was great. Sadly the show is just terrible. You can't fix the script or the stupid story line. I loved how much fun the cast was having with the show. The audience loved it. I am glad I went, but it is not a show I will ever need to see again.

LOL oh boy. My community theater just got the rights to do this show next Spring.

We just saw The Play That Goes Wrong as part of the Broadway in Columbus series. Great slapstick fun! I hadn't heard about it until we were offered the tickets, but it had some really memorable performances, and the Palace Theatre was laughing hard from start to finish.

We are seeing this in May. This weekend we see Hello Dolly with Betty Buckley, we are very excited!
