Walt Disney World Date Based Ticket System FAQ • Read First Page

I just read through all 19 pages of this thread and haven't seen my question asked, so here goes. I have an AP that currently expires the end of this February. I don't have another trip planned until May, so I am going to let my AP expire. I would like to purchase a new AP in May because I have several later trips planned. BUT I have a free dining package for September. Is there any way that I can save the package ticket and use it when I renew the AP next May? Would adding the flex option allow me to do that? Thanks!
I believe you should be fine without the flex option. You would probably just have to pay the difference to get the ticket up to whatever the current selling price is when you go to apply it to the AP renewal in May 2020. The flex option on your free dining ticket would require you to use the first day by 12/31/19. After 12/31/19, the flex ticket would also be expired and need to be addressed in person at WDW.

As @rteetz mentioned, you should make sure your AP is prioritized before the free dining ticket so it does not accidentally get used instead. You could also move the free dining ticket to another guest and let it sit there in MDE without ever touching it and then transfer it back to yourself.

I would also check out the All About TICKETS & Upgrades thread for more info.

I bought date specific tickets from UT starting May 13 (10 day Park Hoppers). I ordered the physical tickets as I had plenty of time before my fastpass window opened and the e-tickets are non-refundable. We will actually be arriving in Orlando very late on May 11th or very early on May 12th (driving for the first time in many years). We have decided to upgrade to annual passes. Will we be able to do this on the 12th instead of waiting until the 13th?

If you want to apply the 10 day tickets to the cost of the AP, you have to wait until you are onsite, but if you can get to Guest Services at Disney Springs on the 12th, you can do it there :)

That is great news! Would upgrading them before I actually used them at the park decrease the value of them when the are price bridged?

The tickets never lose the value you paid for them as long as they aren’t used. You can always use them towards an upgrade but just have to pay the difference.

You probably are best off doing it on the 12th at Disney Springs or a park ticket booth.

Hello,

Hoping someone could help me here with this question...We are looking at a split stay in an orlando area hotel for a business conference and will be ending the trip at a disney resort. I would like to purchase six day passes although we will only be staying at a resort for three days due to our conference hotel having covered the weekend and a weekday which we would have time to visit the parks, plus the hotel offers a free shuttle to the parks. Question is, would I be able to buy six day passes with my resort reservations but use three of the days before we check in to our disney resort?

Appreciate any feedback anyone could provide regarding this type of situation. Thanks!

It’s best not to “package” date-based tickets with an onsite stay that is after an offsite stay.

Book your Disney stay as room-only.

Purchase date-based tickets that encompass the timeframe in which you need to use them. You can purchase via a discount ticket seller or use the MDX app.

I appreciate your response, we were once regulars and now feel a bit out of the loop with all the changes. A few reasons I was looking to purchase with the package were the discounted tickets with a package and the ability to choose fast passes earlier with a package...Being so out of the loop are those not really even benefits? i.e. is it not even much of a discount through the package than I can find elsewhere? Also, any opinion on the fastpass reservation?

Thanks again!

You’ll have the 60-day booking window because you have the onsite stay - you don’t need a package. When your window opens, you’ll be able to book for the ticketed timeframe.

I want to make sure my plan is ok. I have a 3 day ticket bought from Disney last month, I plan to upgrade to a 4 day prior to arrival. I want to confirm changing my ticket online prior to my trip won't take away the ability to upgrade that ticket to an annual pass right?

I haven't been keeping up with the new ticketing system. We are planning a resort only stay in April, but I was wondering if we do decide when we're there to get a 1 day ticket if it will cost the same as buying in advance. (Because I don't know if I actually have the willpower to not go in a park :rolleyes1)

There is always a small up charge when buying at a WDW park. in-person, vs ordering on the website.

If you want, you can order directly to your MDX account (while you are at WDW) and not pay the "at the gate" up charge.
Since you are staying on-site, you can then just use your MagicBand to enter at the park gate.

Thanks for the reply. Does this only apply if you purchase the ticket the same day? I would just want to see what the weather forecast is while we're there, so we would still probably buy a few days in advance.

Edit: Oops, didn't see the last part of your post.

Are date specific tickets purchased from UT bridged to the full gate price of the same dates? (Currently UT tickets for December are still showing the pre-increase price)

If the tickets are unused within the date window, do they retain the value of the full date specific gate price (at the time they expired)?

Thank you!

If unused the tickets will retain the value that Disney lists them at the time. So if Disney increases prices again you pay the difference from Disney's price at purchase to the new Disney price. UT sells the tickets they have in stock until they are gone. Once gone they move to the new pricing.

Thank you for replying! Just to clarify this, will the tickets retain the Disney gate price on 12/31/19?

If Disney raised prices again before 12/31/19 no. You would have to pay the difference because they are now date based.
