I can’t believe no one else likes Pepsi!! I actually really don’t like coke at all. Pepsi is so much sweeter

I like a Pepsi product (Diet Mt. Dew), but I'm not a fan of Coke or Pepsi... occasionally I'll have a Coke Zero, because 99% of the places carry Coca-Cola products down here.

I don't like fizzy drinks with my food - I prefer iced tea. And I will only have iced tea from a restaurant if it's fresh-brewed, none of that fountain nonsense!

I grew up on sweet tea that would melt your teeth due to sugar content (and it used to be totally normal for babies to have sweet tea in their bottles!! Ahhhh, the 80s were something)... these days I'll get half sweet/half un-sweet. I don't care for the artificial sweeteners in my tea (or coffee).

Hope your aunt has already made it through the surgery successfully! Sure puts things in perspective fast when you have to go through something like this.

Thank you. She is out of surgery. We'll know more after the lab results; the doctor Friday said she has a few months to a year. We've all been praying for a more positive outcome after a successful surgery today.

I got Buffalo, NY and Madison and Milwaukee, WI??? I was born in VA and raised in Southwestern CT and have lived in VA most of my adult life.

I got Buffalo, NY and Providence, RI based on answering sneakers and rotary. I did live in Newport, RI for 3 years but have been in Maryland for over 30 years. Have never lived in NY.

Only if you’re from Buffalo or Milwaukee apparently.

Or California. I had to switch during college or I'd get a blank stare back. I still remember my first trip to burger king (was closest to campus and back then I wasn't as picky about fast food) and the girl was so confused when I said I wanted a medium pop. So I said soda and was good. Now I often just say drink when it's a self serve because it's easier and understood everywhere I would hope.

Did anybody else notice these AWESOME new card names in the Chase app:

INK BIX PREFRERRED???? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Took the quiz and it said I was from Missouri (2 cities there, I forget which ones) and Oklahoma City. This was based on my ‘highway’ answer. But I’m from Ohio. I think what threw it off was I answered ‘soda’ instead of ‘pop’. I got used to using soda during grad school for two years in Va Beach. I got made fun of for calling it pop. Also got made fun of for saying sweeper instead of vacuum cleaner and spatula instead of bowl scraper. So here in Ohio I still say soda, but I don't think anyone else does. I’m loving all these regional dialect reports. So much fun!

I do feel bad for people that have to learn english as a second or more language. It's hard enough with all the exceptions and rules as a first language then you toss in all the regional terms and around here Native American city names and it's got to be so hard. Though it's always fun listening to new newscasters from outside the area trying to pronounce towns like Sequim (skwim, one syllable) and Puyallup (pew-al-up, yes like your star wars pew pew).

Around here, it's the Spanish city names. Having gone to college in La Jolla, I cringe when I hear it pronounced with a J sound.

Dialect quiz was fun. Has me nailed, all 3 cities in Northern California, one is actually the bordering town.

I’ve conpletely stopped drinking pop. Dh and I were drinking a lot of zero sugar pop but I figured at that point I might as well drink water. Believe it or not my favorite drink is skim milk. I buy gallons just for myself because Dh drinks almond milk

I did say soda. Grew up hearing pop from my parents, but no one in CT knew what that was! But because I drink diet pepsi, I would not say coke if I meant a soda. But I have no clue what a bubbler is!

This is my family too! My mom and dad moved to CT from upstate NY when I was young, and they said no one here had a clue what they were talking about when they said pop. I say soda.

And not a dialect story, but a cultural difference. My daughter went to post-grad school in Texas. When she was trying to find a roommate, she talked online to several classmates, and one of the first questions several of them asked her was , “What church do you go to?” She eliminated some lovely people who later became good friends because she thought they would turn out to be too religious and straightlaced for her. As it turned out, she discovered that this apparently is just a conversation starter, kind of like when we ask “What do you do?” Or “Where
do you work?”

And add me to list of people who had never heard of drive through alcohol. There was one next to my hotel in Dallas once, but I think dd said they only had limited offerings. Really startled me. You know, don’t drink and drive and all.

@wendow - I'm sad to say we have finally found our difference! No Tea, of any kind, for me!! I do not like it, a cold Diet Mt. Dew, now that is perfection to me! :) :drinking1
I missed this post! Mt Dew??? Ick! No way, I cannot drink Mt Dew :faint:

Do you drink coffee? Coffee is my first love behind God, family, country...well, some days coffee even moves up in that list lol :hyper:

I only like freshly brewed tea as well! I got tea the other day somewhere from the fountain - hey, was desperate - and I thought I'd die it was so terrible. So weak and wimpy :sad2: I had to throw it all away. Just blech!

You grew up on the same tea I grew up on. Was good back then as a kid

Well Dh said he called delta and they told him if he misses his plane in Atlanta he isn’t coming home today. Can I just say &$@# to flights that aren’t nonstop. He better get this job
Can I just say that I love how you used the term nonstop... :thumbsup2

.......too soon? :duck:

I do hope your husband makes it home safe (and soon!) The (somewhat) good news is that airlines don't like to strand people when they can help it. If there are others flying that same connection with your husband they might hold that plane for them.
