This Is Us- Season 3

If Kate did actually die in the flashforward timeline (and Rebecca outlived her!), it would be a heart-wrenching twist-of-fate, wouldn't it?

For what it's worth Chrissy Metz is on Fallon right now and she is still morbidly obese.

It seems like if Kate had died, Toby might still be wearing his wedding ring. ?

If she had died recently, maybe. If she had died a long time ago, maybe not. (Replying to somebody thinking that if Kate had died, Toby might still be wearing his wedding ring. If my reply gets quoted, people might not know what I was talking about.)

But it probably wouldn't be that shocking to have someone her size die at a much younger age than her average sized parent. And I don't see how that's something that's never been done before.

Not sure what it would be though since she appears to be the same in public appearances right now. Unless they have her wearing padding when she's out in public now. Probably best to look for a new theory.

My other thought was that they hired another actress to play thin Kate. They are so good at finding actors that match their counterparts that I think they could pull it off.

I guess I don't see the need to make Kate loose a bunch of weight. She finally seems content in her body. If they were going to make that a story point I"d think they would do that before they had her get pregnant.

Now I'm thinking... it wouldn't be shocking if Kate died from a medical ailment which is related to or impacted by her weight. But she could die from some other cause which is completely unrelated to her weight and which has never been done on TV before. Doesn't even have to be a medical ailment which kills her.

I thought that a few seasons ago, that was supposed to be the storyline and Kate was supposed to lose weight as part of the show; however, the actress was unable to do that so they changed directions. I have no idea where I read that!

There was talk in season one that is was part of her contract to lose weight, that later turned out to not be true.
Maybe her saying it's something that's never been done, isn't actually true LOL. Maybe whatever it is, has been done, and she just hasn't seen the show where they did it.

This is what I think will be the case. That's why I was saying that I need to stop reading interviews with the actors!

Woke up thinking about this episode, had a moment when I thought it might be the end of the series! It wrapped things up neatly, at least the things that have happened. Glad to hear it isn't.

The whole Randall, Beth, and kids storyline was perfection. Including Kevin. I do get a bit confused with locations in this show, they sure hop across the country quickly. I would think that if Kevin could afford that house he's working in LA as a major star. Either that or The Manny has some great residuals.

Had to chuckle that Beth had a moment of clarity that teaching barre classes to housewives is not her dream. So she's going to start a ballet school in Philly, probably with some underserved students, just like her Mom! (Fame, anyone?)

So, I was missing the show already, and decided to go back and watch the Pilot. - I was amazed how much was connected!

We were talking about Kevin's "wise uncle" speeches...one of the very first things we hear Kate say to him is that he's smarter than people think.

Deja stopping Randall from interrupting her speech...Randall did exactly the same thing to William in the very first episode.

I think I might just re-watch the whole series. :rotfl2:

Her aunt? Phylicia Rashad is Debbie Allen's sister.

From what I've read (broke my own rule again!) the day they ended this season with (visiting Rebecca in the future) is also the day that will end the series. We shall see!

When Randall goes into the room in the flash forward scene, he announced who he is. We assume he thinks Rebecca won’t recognize him. Her eyes are open but she is staring off in space. People have thought maybe she has Alzheimer’s but I believe the actress has shot down that theory.

My new theory: she is blind. That’s why her eyes are open but she doesn’t seem to comprehend what is in her line of vision. That’s why Randall has to announce who he is.

I thought of this while driving to work.
