Hi all- Haven’t used the new system yet but had experience with the previous GAC. A few quick questions-

- do I need the magic bands of my entire group if I am the person going ahead to get the DAS return time?

- does the DAS return time show up on the MDE app? I liked the old cards with the times written to prevent having to remember everything.

- can I get the DAS outside the park on the night we arrive to save time on first park day?

Thanks in advance for any info!

When first getting the DAS yum will need the MB of everyone in your group when getting a return time no just one MB and it dose not have to be the DAS holder

Most of the time it will show your return time in MDE sometimes it does not. ( or for me this happens)

If they are not busy and they have the right iPad then they can give your DAS from out side guest relation ( I would say 75% of the time they can just know there is a small change it will be a no.

1. To get the return time, you only need your magic band. They will ask which other members will be riding.

2. Most of the time it does. Occasionally there is a glitch where it doesn't.

3. The DAS holder must be there for their picture to be taken and you must have all the magic bands for your party. Also, it does depend on how busy they are and if they have the correct iPad available.

Also remember that the DAS holder MUST scan his/her band first when returning to the attraction before anyone else can.

There's a DAS thread pinned at the top of this forum. The first post will answer all your questions and then some.
Actually, I just read through the FAQ, it appears to be very outdated and does not contain the answers to the following questions:
  1. Do I need the Magic Band of everyone in my group to obtain a return time? The FAQ says you need everyone's Magic Band to get a DAS, but does not state that you don't need everyone's to get a return time. It also doesn't state that anyone in the party can request return time.
  2. It mentions there is the MDE app, but it doesn't indicate if the return times show up in the app or not.
It does mention that you can sometimes get a return time outside the parks, so that one is answered there, but the first two questions are not answered within the first four posts of the FAQ thread.

Address that with the board Moderators.
My point is simply saying go read the FAQ because it contains all the answers really shouldn't be our default answer, especially when it doesn't actually contain the answers being sought. We should instead strive to answer them as correctly as possible. Maybe mention there is a FAQ for more questions, but just saying go see the FAQ without having looked to see if the answers are there ourselves is not helpful.

Actually, it addresses both questions under “Where will I get a return time?” In the first post.

It’s a long first post, with a LOT of info. SueM deserves a lot of credit for keeping this up-to-date.

Under the section “Where will I get a return time?” is the following (bolding:

DAS Return Times are obtained directly at attractions - usually at the Standby (regular) entrance. Ask or look for a CM with a small iPhone like device or an iPad
- someone else in the party can go to the attraction in place of the DAS holder to obtain a Return Time another
- allows the DAS holder to be resting or doing something else
- allows the DAS holder to not approach the attraction until they will actually get in line

- ANY of the Magicband/tickets that are linked to DAS can be used to obtain a DAS Return Time for that person

- a Magicband/ticket will be scanned to obtain a Return Time.
The CM will ask which people in the group are planning to ride and authorize DAS Return for those guests

- after the Magicband/ticket is scanned, the system will automatically assign a DAS Return Time equal to the current Standby wait time minus 10 minutes.

- DAS Return Time will show up in My Disney Experience app. There will be a beginning time, listed the same as Fastpass Plus window times.
The window end time for DAS times will be listed as midnight.

- only ONE DAS Return Time may be active at a time (this is not a change)

Disagree. The FAQ absolutely should be the default response. Then ask questions if you don't see the information being sought.

Let’s give our new posters a better, friendlier impression. There has been entirely too much bickering on the disABILITIES Forum lately. Time for it to stop. Now.

But we are allowed to point out incorrect information, right? Otherwise, someone could think they'd get something one way, and then get down there and find out the info was incorrect, and not even have a back up plan.

Other posters already addressed this, but I wanted to add some info about the threads themselves.
The Disneyland and WDW DAS threads only have the first post updated; I update them as we get further information that we can confirm.
The Disneyland last edit is listed as November 16, 2018.

It’s been on my ‘to do’ list for a long time to edit the DAS threads, mostly for simplification (and retire those 2 FAQs threads, which were started just before DAS began).

The official Disneyland website disability page links to a DAS FAQ document dated 11/19/14, so not particularly up to date, but there have been no big changes Disney seems to have felt they needed to change since then.

Certainly, we would like people to point out incorrect or new information.
If it’s incorrect on the FAQs, please let lanejudy or me know so that we can look at whether something in the FAQ needs to be added, changed or clarified. Both lanejudy and I go to WDW often enough that we are aware of changes there. We don’t go to DL, so do rely on information from other posters (and other social media we are active on).

I personally don’t recall any time when you or lanejudy provided incorrect info, although I’m sure it could have happened. I think the concern is more some posters who put info/opinion out as fact when it’s demonstrably incorrect.

Thanks.
I mostly wanted to point out that if posters see something, even in the FAQs, feel free to let us know.

One thing that is new at the MK and HS is that you can now get return times at kiosk that are around the park for any ride in that park

Yes.
That is one of the things I found on our recent trip (got home 4/21/19).
There are some that are ONLY for a certain attraction. For example, there is Slinky Dog one that we found right at the entrance to Toy Story Land (other people have reported different locations). I asked there if we could get a DAS Return Time for Toy Story Mania and was told it was only for Slinky Dog.
It’s a pretty new addition: https://www.wdwinfo.com/news-stories/guest-experience-team-added-to-disneys-hollywood-studios/
