A trip full of Triple Stay / Annual Pass / VIPassholder Fun - A Late Feb/Early March Trip

The cupcake foils are impossible to get off! I remember eating at BOG 5 years ago and resorting to using a fork to eat inside the foil.

Morgan's dish compared to Gwen's was crazy. If you're going to make the kids' portions small, at least do it with all the dishes. Seems flawed that there could be that huge a difference between the two.

Even being soaked, It was a Satisfactual ride!
THIS is the picture I seem to take every trip lol! Love this quote.

We were in the back, which I was slightly bummed about, as you con't get a good view of the witch.
I get that but I also don't like being right in the front. I feel like you don't get the "rocking" motion at all. I think the mid-back is the best spot.

We love this ride.
So do I! It's simple but fun :) And for whatever reason both boys enjoy it so we get to ride often.

We waited a full 30 minutes to get from the begining of that room into the room where you order. We were hungry and getting impatient!!!
Yikes! That is ridiculous. Sounds like pre-ordering is the way to go.

Morgan ordered the Kids Shrimp....
Speaking of ridiculous, what is that even???? Saddest portion I think I've ever seen.

I decided to try the French Onion Soup and the Tuna Nicoise....
We've only eaten here once, but this is exactly what I got and enjoyed it very much. Jason wasn't a big fan though so we haven't been back.

My only complaint, I am not a big olive fan and a) you can't ask them to not put them on, again see the ordering issue and b) they were canned olives... I feel like they should have been fewer of them but a better quality.
Now I love olives, but canned ones should not be on a nicoise salad. I'm pretty sure they are kalamatas when I had it a few years back

Does anyone take the same picture over and over again. I am pretty sure I have many versions of this treehouse...
Yes! All. The. Time. I swear each trip just looks like the one before because I seem to take the same exact pictures of the same exact things :rotfl:

What a fun morning! Your ride selfies are amazing. Sounds like lunch could have been better - I haven't been to BoG since 2015 and I hesitate to go again for many of the reasons you've commented about. But your salad did look great! :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone!

I am going to try and get another post up after I reply to everyone's comments. I do have to take the girls to swimming, but hoping to squeeze it in!

Oh man Morgan's lunch does look disappointing, especially compared to Gwen's! I'm shocked that is considered a kids meal. Like what if the kid orders shrimp and decides they don't like it? There's not even a side to munch on!
I know! And the problem is, with the way you order, you can't just ask for something else or a add side to your order. it's too late!

We've gotten hit by this in the front before. Much worse than the drop.

We preordered both of our BoG visits and it was super quick. I didn't realize we were missing anything in the other room, but it doesn't sound like it was worth losing 30 minutes for.
Def not! We will always preorder from now on.

I was unimpressed with my BoG adult drinks as well. Being on the DDP, I didn't mind because it was included, but I wouldn't pay OOP for those drinks.
I would stick with beer from now on. They can't mess that up. Well, they could... it could be warm beer, blek!

And then followed by a long line at BOG! But I'm glad it was a good lunch, except for the disappointing cupcakes!
BOG line was rough! But the food was good and I am glad we got back into the restaurant. It had been awhile.

Morgan’s take on Jungle Cruise made me giggle!
Ha! I know. I am pretty sure I laughted out loud when I read it!

Thanks for the photos of the Ariel queue. I always take a picture of the sign for the game but we’ve never actually been in line long enough to play it!
Neither have we! We usually stop to see one or two but keep moving through that area.

I agree it's not the best but we do like eating in Beast's castle.
And Lunch is ALOT cheaper than trying to do dinner!

This isn't a child's meal, it's half a toddler meal.
Right?!?! It was silly. And $$$$$

She's working on her Senior picture poses early.
Exactly!

We got stuck in a long Mermaid ride before. At least there are things to look at.
The que is really nice and if we didn't have a reservation, I probably wouldn't have minded, it wasn't that bad just a timing issue.

This looks good! Too bad about Morgan's two bites of food....that is such a small serving!! Gwen's meal and your meal look good though. I loved the soup too!
2 more pieces of shrimp and a bigger serving of applesauce and she probably would have been alot happier.

Morgan's dish compared to Gwen's was crazy. If you're going to make the kids' portions small, at least do it with all the dishes. Seems flawed that there could be that huge a difference between the two.
They really need an option upgrade a kids meal. Alot of the adult meals were too big or too fancy for Morgan.

Yikes! That is ridiculous. Sounds like pre-ordering is the way to go.
Def!!!

Speaking of ridiculous, what is that even???? Saddest portion I think I've ever seen.
It really was. And Shrimp wasn't on the adult menu, so she couldn't order that either. She would have been better off with the pork dish Andy ordered. Oh well. We probably won't be going back for awhile.

Now I love olives, but canned ones should not be on a nicoise salad. I'm pretty sure they are kalamatas when I had it a few years back
They were def canned and it almost looked like they dumped the can right on the salad.

Yes! All. The. Time. I swear each trip just looks like the one before because I seem to take the same exact pictures of the same exact things :rotfl:
Glad I am not alone!

What a fun morning! Your ride selfies are amazing. Sounds like lunch could have been better - I haven't been to BoG since 2015 and I hesitate to go again for many of the reasons you've commented about. But your salad did look great! :thumbsup2
I was tempted to cancel the reservation a bunch of times. But desided to keep it. I really wanted to go inside again. It was worth it for that. And we will do it again in a couple years probably. Def not a must do but worth doing once or twice.

Day Two: Magic Kingdom: A Ride and A drink

We were ready to head back to the resort and swim after lunch but we had one more fast pass to use before we left!

We headed for Space Mountain. Once we got there, there was a fairly long line, and we were very happy to have fast passes! And breeze past everyone. And Man, that line is LONG!!!! I have my last picture from BOG at 1:45 and this picture of us ready to load was 2:00 on the dot. So, not bad at all!

Space Mountain
We were ready to ride!

Magic Kingdom_7DMT_Feb 23rd_01
Now that we have photopass qith our annual pass, I think we need to step up our game. We need to get more creative!

Space was fun as always and we got to check out the new exit area. Which realistically not anything special but now that the moving walkway is gone, it is a LONG walk!!!!

Gwen really liked this metal ball pit.
Space Mountain_Ball Pit
She said she wanted to jump in it.

We checked out the gift shop area a little on the way out. And I saw one of the photo booths and mentioned that they were included with Photopass. So we tried one out.

First off, we tried to squeeze all of in one! And it was HOT!!! We did the one that was like a traditional photo booth strip. And when they finally showed up in our account, they were just the photos. :( boo. And it took like 3 days for them to show up for some reason.

Magic Kingdom_Photo Booth_01

Magic Kingdom_Photo Booth_01
Notice that I am the ONLY one looking in the right spot?!?!

Magic Kingdom_Photo Booth_01
And of course a slightly silly one!

We started to head out after our photo shoot. But quickly did a pit stop at the Cool Ship. I didn't say why but I knew there was something that girls would want to try.

It's not on the website, I hope they still have it there. But it was a bubbling drink made with Lemonade, Boba Bubbles and Dry Ice.
Bubbling Drink_Gwen
They were in awe of it and loved it!

Untitled
The dry Ice made the boba balls float around and the lemonade bubble like a hot tub.

Bubbling Lemonade_Morgan

Bubbly Lemonade
I have a video of them trying it but I can't seem to get videos to upload to Flickr anymore. They got a big kick out of it. And once we all had a couple sips, we started moving towards the front of the park.

Bubble Drink Mountain
I tried to get a cool Instagramable photo. Andy said it was a fail. Oh Well.

We say alot of people walking by commenting on the drink as we walked by with our bubbling drink. Gwen had to go to the bathroom, so, I took her to the one by the plaza restaurant while Andy and Morgan headed into the Emporium to do some shopping. We meet them in the Emporium and all did some shopping.

Andy ended up getting a shirt of some sort that I can't remember what it was of. Gwen picked out Minnie Ear Rings as she was now able to change her ear rings. And Morgan got her Giant Mickey Ice Cream Plush. I grabbed a set of the snack magnets. And THEN Morgan had to go to the bathroom. So I left Andy and Gwen in the store to pay and I took Morgan to the bathroom at the front of the park. We all met up after that and headed out to the buses.

Up next up Swimming and dinner!

Day Two: Some relaxing

We only waited 10 - 15 minutes for a bus. Our bus stall was ALL the way at the end but didn't wait long, so it wasn't too bad. Once we got back to the resort, we changed and headed to the pool. While we were changing, housekeeping tried to come in. We told them we were headed to the pool and to come back in like 10 minutes.

We headed down (with a beer or two in our old Dinning Plan mugs). And the pool was PACKED with people. We did a lap around the pool deck to try and find a place to put our stuff down. We barely found an open chair!

Caribbean Beach Pool
Ok, the pool doesn't look that bad, but it was def full!

I do think that this might be my favorite moderate pool. I love that there are two slides and the theming is great!

Pool Time
I snapped a picture of Andy and the girls before I got in myself.

Morgan Slide
I was waiting for Morgan to come down and watched this poor Brazilian Mom yelling at her kid to get of the pool. And the kid just completly ignoring her. Glad to see that kids are the same in ALL countries! ;)

Morgan also went down this slide a million times! She loves it. We floated around, cooled off and relaxed a bit. But soon it was time head back to the room.

We decided to try the quiet pool right by our room. We all walked down to check it out. And there was NO ONE there.
Quiet Pool

Quiet Pool
Morgan jumped in and screamed. I guess it wasn't heated like the main pool. Ha!

I ran back to the room and grabbed a 2nd beer for me while Andy sat with the girls. Once I came back, he headed back to shower while I headed with the girls.

Quiet Pool
They basically had the pool to themselves. I just relaxed in a chair as it was a tad chilly in the shaded area.

After a bit Andy text'd that he was done, so I dragged the girls out of the pool to head back to the room so the rest of us could get ready for the evening. We all showered and tried to rest a bit. As we had a big dinner tonight and a first for us!

I am going to stop here, to keep all of dinner in one post. Up next Dinner!

Day Two: Dinner and Fireworks!

Once we were ready, we headed to Old Port Royale to call an Uber.

While waiting for the car, Andy grabbed a couple photos of the ladies all dressed up.
Ready for Dinner

Ready for Dinner
They clean up nicely. Morgan almost didn't have a dress to wear. The dress that I packed her was from last summer and it didn't fit AT ALL!!!!

As we were leaving the room, I asked if the girls wanted there sweaters that I packed them. They both said no. (Remember that)

Our uber pulled up at the Contemporary exactly at 7:30, which was our reservation time. So, we asked right away where to go and were directed up the escaltor to check in. We were having dinner at California Grill. I had made a 7:30 reservation so we could watch the fireworks while we were there.

There was a little bit of a line to check in. Nothing terrible. The girls asked to go sit in the lounge area not too far away while we checked in. And while Andy and I were waiting these guys just happened to come up the escalator and pass through.

Smee
Mr. Smee! Captain Hook came right before him but I couldn't get my camera out quick enough to snap a picture.

There was actually a bunch of people all waiting for an elevator and blocking Hook's way. And he just casually tapped the one guy on the sholder. It was pretty funny as the guy was super suprised to see a giant Hook behind him!

We got checked in and brought up to the main area. We were all getting pretty hungry at this point. once we were upstairs we had to wait some more. So, we wandered over to the bar to maybe grab a drink. But it was pretty full up there and I wasn't feeling like squeezing in for a drink. And Andy was annoyed. Morgan did say she was thristy, so Andy grabbed a water for her while we waited. We were all ready for some food!

We got seated pretty much 5 or 10 minutes before 8. So, we got seated and our waiter gave us the low down on where to watch and all that good stuff. Our table wasn't right up against the window but we like the 2nd row of tables. And had a good view from the table.

Contemporary View

Everyone was filing out as we were debating what to do, stay at the table or go outside. Andy said to go out and he would order the aps and drink before heading out.

We were able to walk all the way down to get a spot that the girls could see.
Contemporary Fireworks Roof Top

Fireworks
It was fun to watch from that angle, but I do wish we had been a little earlier and had at least apps in our bellies or something.

Untitled
We watched about half outside and decided to head in, to eat some bread!

But this was our view from our table, so not bad at all.
Untitled

Contemporary Fireworks

The waiter came over and asked if we needed anything. And Gwen said that she was cold. And he said he had something for that!

He came back with two black shawls for them to wear. Which was much appriciated but they didn't really know how to wear it. Oye!

We started with an appatizer.
Untitled
Braised Beef Short Rib Wontons
Doenjang Miso-Cola-Onion Sauce, Crispy Garlic-Chili Oil, Radish, Pickled Lotus Root
These were soooooo good!!! I could have eaten 6 of these as a meal. The short rib was nice and tender and the Chili oil wasn't too spicy. Morgan even had a little of it.

Andy ordered Morgan a Shirley Temple, which I don't think she has had before.
Untitled
He brought her our a whole little bowl of extra cherries! Which normal kids would love but my children turn there nose up at these cherries, they like black cherries...

I ordered a Blackberry Cocktail.
Untitled
Which is does not seem to be on the menu online but I remember enjoying it alot.

Andy ordered a glass of white wine. (no picture)

We were ready for our main meals at this point. When we ordered, we asked him to bring out Gwen's food ASAP, as she was HANGRY!!!!

Gwen ordered the very gourmet Kids Pizza...
Untitled
Which I forgot to get a picture of before she started eating because I wanted normal Gwen back quickly. It was a kids pizza. Nothing amazing but that is all she wanted or needed anyway. And listed at $12 with a drink included. So, really not a bad deal, if you want to bring a young kid with you.

Morgan and I both ordered the Beef.

But we talked with the waiter and he said he could make hers with whatever side she wanted. So, she went with the kids version of mac n cheese and said no veggie, which is actually unusal for her.
Untitled
It came out and she wasn't sure what to do with it...

Untitled
She was hungry and tired and totally overwhelmed.

Untitled
But she dug in and loved it.

I went with the standard order of beef
Untitled by Ariella Saucier, on Flickr
Oak-fired Filet of Beef
Crème Fraîche Mashed Potato, Jumbo Asparagus, Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette, Triple Garlic Butter

Actually, I lied... I swapped out the mashed potatoes with the Aged Gouda Macaroni and Cheese. And it was a VERY wise decision... It was the highlight for me. Soooo rich and creamy. Yum. And that square dish really would have been a meal for me normally but I had beef as well! the Beef was cooked to how we like it and was really good. But it was beef. I did enjoy it alot but that mac n cheese stole the show.

And I actually had some sort of balsmic carrots. They were actually really good as well, I just didn't have enough room in my stomach for them.

Andy decided to go with the Pork Tenderloin from the waiters recommendation.
Untitled
Grilled Pork Tenderloin
Goat Cheese Polenta, Crimini Mushroom-Tomato Ragu, Zinfandel Glaze

He LOVED this. He raved at how good it was.

Untitled

He ate every last part of that dish. Cleaned the plate clean!

We were all very happy with our meals and were in slightly better spirits by then. I had suggested not getting dessert. I was stuffed and it was getting late.

But then the waiter came over and talked up the kid dessert of sushi. And Gwen was sold!
Untitled
She was so excitied for this.

California Grill Signature Puffed Rice Sushi
That is all there is for the description, but it was made with rice krispee treats, fruit roll ups and candy. He had kid chop sticks with special holders to make it easier for kids to use. Gwen loved all of it. There was melted cholate to dip the sushi in, along with white chocolate Wasabi and ginger. It was a very fun presentation. And Gwen perked up ALOT when this came out.

I said we should have given her dessert first. It would have been a much more enjoyable dinner.

Untitled

Morgan somehow had room for dessert, so we let her order something as well.

Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Milk Chocolate-whipped Panna Cotta, Cashew Cluster

The waiter described it as a volcano cake, and Morgan was sold!

She was again a little overwhelmed by it's fanciness. But that didn't stop her from digging in.

Her and Andy kind of shared it. I think I had a bite, I was just too full to eat any.

I did order tea.
Untitled
It was a Mad Hatter Tea and was very nice way to finish off the meal.

We had a great meal here, but we were all tired and ready for bed! We paid the bill and headed out. The girls left the shawls at the table, obviously, as they were the restaurants. And as we were getting in the elevator to go down a very nice lady ran over trying to give them to us. She thought they were ours and we forgot them. It was very nice but we obviously didn't take them with us.

Once we were in the lobby, Andy started looking for an uber to head back to the resort. There were none around! Finally he found one but it said they wouldn't be there for 15 minutes! So, we sat down and waited. It would probably still be faster than walking over to Magic Kingdom and taking the bus back.

Morgan Tired
Morgan may or may not have fallen asleep on the bench while waiting.

Finally our uber driver made it and we hoped into go back to the room. He was a VERY chatty driver, and Gwen high on Candy Sushi chatted him, told him all about the sushi and I don't even remember what else.

We made it back to the room, and went straight to bed! It was a great day but exhausting!

Up next Day Three! We were headed to see Toy Story Land!

Day Two: Morgan's Version - Second half of the day

When we were finally done we got started on our adventure to Space Mountain. After we got there we used our fast pass to go the front in no time. It was amazing. I love it. After we decided to go back to the hotel to swim. We ended up waiting awhile. In fact between the wait time and the handycap lady getting on teh bus. I was all caught up.
(think she means with writting this stuff) When we got back we got our swim suits on and went to the pool.

Me and Gwen slide down the slides two times. Eventually we went to the pool that was right next to our hotel. After swimming we got ready to go to dinner. Once we were there we had to wait to sit down. Then we watched the fireworks from the restaurant. It was cool.

After dinner and dessert we had the most chatty driver on teh way back and Gwen loved him. When we got back I collapsed in the bed and fell asleep.

The bubbling lemonade looks cool!
It really was fun. I hope it's still there when we go in a couple weeks. I know that location is known for constantly changing.

Same! I feel like Gwen and I are on the same wavelength
Ha! They were super shiny!

That lemonade drink looks cool my boys would have liked that for sure.
I hope it is still there. The website is never completely up to date.

Now that we have photopass qith our annual pass, I think we need to step up our game. We need to get more creative!
I'll loan you Jason for a day :-)

Magic Kingdom_Photo Booth_01
And of course a slightly silly one!
Now you're getting the hang of it

Untitled
The dry Ice made the boba balls float around and the lemonade bubble like a hot tub.
This totally looks like something up Casey's alley. Where was it?

Gwen picked out Minnie Ear Rings as she was now able to change her ear rings.
Did she just get her ears pierced too? Casey had hers done right before we left and can finally now change them

We headed down (with a beer or two in our old Dinning Plan mugs).
I've never had an interest in the mugs until now :drinking1

They look so grown up!!!

But this was our view from our table, so not bad at all.
That is an awesome review. We've never had a great table location so we've ended up going outside.

Man I wanted to order these and was overruled by the family. You have me so regretting that as I love a good dumpling or wonton.

Y-U-M!!!! I don't think I've ever seen that mac and cheese there. It looks and sounds amazing. I had a total order fail on our last trip and this would have been so much better.

Her face is everything!

Morgan Tired
Morgan may or may not have fallen asleep on the bench while waiting.
That is me after just about every Disney meal :-)

We went to a quote unquote fancy restaurant.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I'm gonna start just writing out quote unquote. It comes across so much more quote unquote expressive. :P

The walking escalators are gone from Space Mountain now? Yuck...thanks for preparing me for that long walk.

I didn't realize there were two slides at the main pool there. I'm surprised the quiet pools weren't heated, but I do have to laugh that a little chilliness wasn't going to stop the girls from swimming.

All your food dishes at CA Grill looked amazing. I'm not even a pork fan but Andy's dish looked really tasty!

Glad the sushi turned the meal around for Gwen. Have to giggle that the dessert was noteworthy in her daily recap. And that Morgan's was how chatty the Uber drive was!

That lemonade drink sounds right up my alley. I hope it is still there in June!

How did you like Caribbean Beach? We booked it for June with a great AP rate but I've never been 100% sold on staying there.

The girls look so nice all dressed up for California Grill.

Everything about your meal sounds delicious but those short rib wontons sounds amazing! I order short ribs pretty much any time it's on a menu and in a wonton?! I wish I had some right now lol.

How sweet of the waiter to get shawls for the girls!

This totally looks like something up Casey's alley. Where was it?
It was the small kiosk across from The Launching Pad. Next to those spritzers... Half the time it used to be closed. The website lists it as selling only churros. I hope they keep it, I feel like it is a perfect Tomorrowland drink!

Did she just get her ears pierced too? Casey had hers done right before we left and can finally now change them
Gwen got hers last summer for her birthday... And our place told her to keep hers in for a full 6 to 9 months before switching.

I've never had an interest in the mugs until now :drinking1
Ha! We brought 2 old ones with us, Andy used his mostly to make iced coffee in the morning and mine was for beer by the pool!

They look so grown up!!!
It was the theme of this whole trip!

Her face is everything!
Seriously she loved it so much it was silly. Has Casey had it before? I have a feeling she will request to go here again just to have that.

That is me after just about every Disney meal :-)

That Bona lemonade looks delicious, my girls would love it.
You could also get it with a blue powerade too I think. It was nice that it wasn't cardonated. Gwen does NOT like fizzy drinks, so some of the slushes she doesn't like.

The walking escalators are gone from Space Mountain now? Yuck...thanks for preparing me for that long walk.
Yup! Tore the whole thing out! It is all ramps now, and I believe now ADA compliant. Which is probably good but it is a long walk! Maybe I should see how long it is.

I didn't realize there were two slides at the main pool there. I'm surprised the quiet pools weren't heated, but I do have to laugh that a little chilliness wasn't going to stop the girls from swimming.
One slide is a dark tube slide and the other is smaller open slide. So, you get 2 levels of scary-ness. I will say that I don't know for sure if they were heated or not, as I didn't get in. It was also a well shaded area, so the water might be cooler just from being in the shade.

Glad the sushi turned the meal around for Gwen. Have to giggle that the dessert was noteworthy in her daily recap. And that Morgan's was how chatty the Uber drive was!
Seriously, if I had know, I would have started with dessert! And the uber driver was REALLY Chatty!

How did you like Caribbean Beach? We booked it for June with a great AP rate but I've never been 100% sold on staying there
I love Caribbean Beach. We stayed there a few years ago. And I loved it but Andy wasn't sold on it. I got a good deal with a room only discount this trip and they had just finished the main areas. So we figured why not. We all really liked it. It is a big resort but there are paths that cut threw to the main area. And the farthest section has it's own food service now. So, I think they have made some great updates to the resort! And the food was really good. I haven't gotten to any of the food yet with this trip report but we enjoyed everything that we ended up eating at the resort. Probably some of the best choices! Give it a try! We are staying there again in October and December. Mostly because of the Gondolas and hopefully that will be fairly convenient. But we all liked it enough to stay again.

How sweet of the waiter to get shawls for the girls!
The waiter was really great. Top service for sure!

Awesome- thank you for sharing! I've watched youtube reviews of the new food options there and they all sounded great. If you liked it enough to stay there for 2 more trips, that sounds good to me!
