APs and Resort guests can now upgrade their magicband

Well this blog post got the price wrong (they say cost is $14.99 rather than getting $14.99 off cost of custom band as shown in the WDW video promo) but I hope they got the date correct! I haven't customized my AP band and was holding out in case they released new colors! This is even better.

My daughter and I saw this announcement this morning. She is already agonizing over which one she will choose based on what we saw in the video. BTW - our trip isn't until next summer!!! I would probably never consider buying one down there as we already have the free one that works fine... but as a $10 upgrade - sure no problem. Well done Disney!!!

I read yesterday that Disney will be offering resort guests and annual passholders an opportunity to get an upgrade for magic band at a discount rate of 10 dollars. Does anyone know when this will start? I can't wait to see what designs will be available.

I think the 11 days before means you pick them up at the front desk when you check in. They are usually mailed a month prior to the stay.

Haven’t there been a few reports here of them pushing that closer and closer to checkin, though?

The video said "order 11 or more days ahead of arrival and we will ship them to your home", so maybe they are planning to change the deadline that you have to order by to ship them

ugh - I had convinced my family to use our old bands for our next trip (trying to be environmentally friendly) - well throw that idea out the window. We're in, $30 poorer I guess.

I hope they offer a Jack & Sally band when we get closer to our trip (Halloween time)

Hope shipping earlier is still an option. We're doing an 8 day DCL before WDW. If they ship at 11 days out of WDW, it'll arrive after we leave for DCL!

Hopefully they will give an option to pick up at the resort then. Shipping that quickly likely means FedEx which is impossible for people in NYC who work and don’t live in doorman buildings.

Why is it impossible in NYC to get a FedEx delivery without a doorman? Do they make you sign for it?

Chicago here- we get FedEx drop offs all the time, no doorman, just a porch.

That. Plus there is nowhere but outside on the street to leave them. You do NOT want packages sitting outside on the street for any period of time.

I'm so so so excited. I was getting really bored with the old color options and was really hoping they'd add in some of the other color options, like dark green and black. But, hey, $10 is a totally reasonable alternative. Shut up, Disney, and take my money.

Plenty of folks in NYC have porches—in non gentrified Brooklyn we call them stoops lol. FedEx is a different beast with the signatures but our USPS/UPS/etc guys always leave packages at the back door if no one’s home. I have yet to get one stolen. Porch pirates are more of a thing in the burbs tbh. Our delivery guys know better. My mail carrier is fond of hiding smaller packages in/near our flower pots. Once I found my magic bands behind one.

Actually I’m in Bed-Stuy. The mail carrier leaves things in the entryway where our mailboxes are. But UPS and FedEx don’t have that key so it is MAYBE left on the porch or you are going into an industrial area to pick them up.

I may hate the postal service at times, but for packages I would rather they come mail. At least I don’t feel like I am taking my life into my hands going to pick one up there if I have to.

And trust me - having served on Grand Jury this past summer, I can tell you...even mailrooms do not stop people who are going to steal packages.

Doesn't look like the selection of solid colors is changing (except pink is not shown under the free options in the video).

The solid colors retail for $14.99. If the same credit can be used for those bands, they'd become free, just like the "usual" solid colors. Which would be nice, because I'm getting tired of more and more of those same eight colors over and over . . . .

I wish this had been a thing for my last trip- I would've jumped on it in a heartbeat! Just based on the video I think I either would've picked the Black Panther one or the cute red and white Minnie bow one!

We renew on the 11th so I'll hold off on making our MB selections until the 16th. This is great. We were going to order skins (we may still), but there are a few there that I really like so , for $20, it seems worth it.
