DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Tuesday morning after a long weekend is rough. I had a busy but relatively quiet weekend. The weather hasn't been the greatest around here, still cold and wet, so I considered myself lucky to not be camping.
Went to visit for the in-laws overnight Sunday-Monday.
I also had the chance to go iceberg spotting, since there are quite a few around this year. None of the bergs were particularly close. I was more impressed by how "angry" the sea was that day. Saw some pretty big swells and spray. A few pictures out of interest.

It's been an up and down weekend so far. Our boys fell just short of winning the banner at volleyball provincials. We lost 2 games to 1 (15-11) in the third set. It was a great match, the boys worked their butts off and never gave up. They could have easily packed it after losing the first set, especially given that the other team destroyed us in the round-robin the night before.
Congrats to both of you for all the time and effort put into it over the years.

Youngest dd withdrew from regionals. I'm disappointed, but she's 14. Maybe it's a good thing she doesn't try to play thru pain.
Sorry to hear it, but you may be right, best not to play injured at her age.

Actually, I'm not feeling all that great anyways. Got a cold a few days ago and have been getting progressively worse as the days go by. Last night was a low, but feel slightly better this morning. Hopefully that means I've turned the corner.
Hope you are on the mend and feeling better.

The Leo Hayes Lion King was hilarious last night. Many of the boys we know showed us a side we've never seen before, it was a fun evening and a great way to raise money for the Safe Grad program.

Sounds like a success and a pretty good time!

Thanks for those I especially like this one:

And... yeah, looks cold...

Maybe? Slightly?

Top O the Mornin Dads! Same 'ole stuff around here - have a good Tuesday gents and be safe out there.
Wanted to congratulate Dan on GB big win over France yesterday at the World Hockey Championship. With their overtime win they avoid relegation and send France packing to the B side next year. I'm sure it was all over the papers in GB today.
Saw that score on the ticker at the bottom of the screen on NHL Network and immediately stopped drinking as I thought I had too much :confused3 GB & France - how bad is hockey outside of Canada, USA and Russia for those two countries to be in the tournament?

Hey Dads,

Had a fun Victoria Day Long weekend. Camping and hiking in Kananaskis, Alberta (1 hr from Calgary).

This was our home for the weekend.

Weekend events included: Hiking, campfires, games, kids getting dirty, climbing trees and the adults enjoying good times with the kiddos and of course...beverages around the campfire. Fun was generally had by all.

Here's some pics:

I feel pretty lucky to live so close to such an amazing part of this country.

Lots of laughs and some amazing talent.

For those of you not on Facebook, this was Declan's talent portion.

The IIHF now includes 2 pools of 8 in the top tier at the world championships, my guess is they did it for the money. After the 6 or 7 overall it gets a little thin.

I had no idea we had a national team. I think our top division has about 10 teams. But we’ll always take the win.

Waterloo. Blenheim. Wherever Jeff was the other week with the sign. I believe they are collecting their Knighthoods this morning, as yet another glorious victory over the French is recorded in the annals of British history.

I can see why! Looks like a great time in a beautiful spot.

All I can say is, Great Britain has the greatest team song in sports history.

shoot. It shows up, but the circle of death just spins away. I'll try again when I'm not at work.

It definitely wasn't shorts and t-shirt weather. Worse on top of a big hill exposed to the North Atlantic, of course.

Looks like a great time. I would never be able to get my wife and daughters to do something like that.
I used to enjoy camping and tenting back in the day.
I'll echo what pkondz asked...is this your outfit, or is it one of those Parks Canada Otentiks type things?

Wherever Jeff was the other week with the sign.
Signal Hill (not expecting you to remember, but that was it. Actually the same place I took the ice berg picture of me and DD)

Not ours. The place we stayed, called "Sundance Lodges" has an entire campground filled with them, some tipis, and some plain vanilla campsites. https://www.sundancelodges.com/ Well run family business. We are happy to book every year.

We have been going on the same long weekend each year for 3 years now with 4/5 families anywhere from 16-19 people. Lots of fun. And, for the first camping trip of the season, snow is always a possibility, but less of a worry when you don't have to set up your own tent, and that "tent" (wood frame and platform with canvas walls/roof) comes with a Kerosene heater and a covered porch!

I have seen the Otentiks, but have never enjoyed one. They look great. These ones sleep 4.

Evening everyone from a rain soaked Westfield NB. It's been a busy three weeks, work, sleep repeat for the last 20 days. Finally back to a regular
work week. I've missed a bunch around here, not going back to read it all. Hope everyone is well.

To quote Inigo Montoya...Let me splain...no, too long, let me sum up...

Randal went on a cruise and met up with Darcy.
We were complete gentlemen while he was gone :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I tried to keep a straight face
Dan had a good trip to Shang Hai, but only managed 3 hours at Disney (poor poor Dan)
Darcy's son's team got 2nd place, but still really dog gone good.
Norm's daughter hurt her wrist and wasn't able to play in competition.
Pkondz returned from a Disney trip only to be slave labor again.
TL surprised his girls.
Jeff searched for the iceberg that took down the Titanic, but failed.
Rob went camping.

I think that pretty much covers it.
