Columbia Harbour House - geez, those stairs...

A solution to the carrying a tray filled with food or food and a sloshing drink cup is to put the food in a box and a bag for easy carrying. Naturally that does not fit in with the going green effort unless everyone carries around a fast food reusable bag. In all the times we’ve gone to CHH and we have gone a lot, I never found downstairs seating. DH and one the kids carry the trays up, luckily no spills or falls.

The place which sells burgers in Epcot near Mousegears... they also have some seating which you access by walking upstairs after you receive your food, if i recall correctly.

Just as an fyi, there is an elevator in CHH. That said, it's by the kitchen area and you need to get a CM to access it.
Probably a good idea because anyone who can trip walking up stairs needs to be extra careful. :)

That was my thought. Just provide the cups and let people fill it upstairs. Of course, there'd be a lot more orders for water cups.....

Or just hire one more person to fill the drinks upstairs behind a small counter. Surely at $4.49 a cup they could manage that...

I fall all the time. I trip over air.

I know we ate upstairs last trip at CHH, but I honestly don't remember being nervous about the stairs. I'm going to pay attention next trip because I believe all of you! :p

Speaking as someone who spilled my full cup of Coke all over a (thankfully empty) table at CHH because it fell off my tray - yeah, a second floor drink station would be great! Just give people empty cups and they can fill them themselves when they're ready. It's what the fast food places do.

You know what? Dunkin Donuts carries a box that works for carrying liquids and food and it even has a handle so no need for a bag.
Were the container made of a material like corrugated cardboard it should be recyclable too.
Good thinking outside the "box" for you;).

My father was an attorney but never worked for Disney. Or won an argument with my mother that I'm aware of...

I'm sure they'd be happy that a virtual stranger recognized that the "how to work through a problem looking at both sides" gene was passed on.
Me? Never got a law degree. Went in another direction in which critical thinking was still useful.

We always "risk" the stairs-the viewing of Fantasyland or Liberty Square from "The Bridge" is a huge part of the CHH experience for us.:)

I agree that the view up there is great. As I said earlier, stairs are a bit tricky for me right now, but luckily I have a year of healing before my next trip, so fingers crossed I'll be up to the task of those stairs by then. If I am concerned about my overall clumsiness (of which I have much, LOL!) regarding drinks, I'll just stick to refilling my water bottle before we head into CHH. I only drink water anyway, so that will mean I only have to get myself and food up the stairs. :D

I don't recall quoting you.

However I did take a few psychology courses in college, so let me break your response down...

Haven't been upstairs there, but do eat upstairs at Pinocchio, and, as above - one person carries the food, one the drinks. I am never the drinks person, as I spill IMMEDIATELY upon grabbing the tray. My balance is .... poor.

Because they've found a way to cut costs and pat themselves on the back for "going green" at the same time. Never mind the eleventy billion individual bottles of soda and water they sell.

:( That sounds awful. Is that all the MK CS restaurant cups now or just Columbia Harbour House?

I didn’t think the lid thing was a big deal until I saw a kid take a cup of water off a tray at Casey’s, drink out of it and put it back. Bleh.

resort and park wide

Ugh that is so annoying!! I formally apologize in advance to all the people my daughter spills her drinks on during our next trip, since she is still unsteady with an open cup. UGH!!!!

Maybe I'll grab some extra plastic lids from McDonalds and keep them in my purse....

My toddler is too. We ate this past week at a restaurant that only provides coffee type lids now and it went all over. The table, the floor, her clothes. What a disaster.

if they are not the right ones they can be worse than no lid. my small park one year didn't have lids that fit the hot chocolate cups while coffee cups had lids. should have seen parents try to make coffee lids work. saw more spills caused by parents assuming the lids fit. they handed cup to kids and lid came off as they tried to drink. I would bring a sippy cup with an attached straw which would be legal in AK which has had a rule for years
