I have a small belly fat when I stand up straight.
Not the healthiest place to carry fat - still trying to lose weight.
So women - do you wear a 1 piece bathing suit with a tummy bump showing?
Do you were a lose t-shirt over your bathing suit ?
I am very modest
Thank you

Wear what you are comfortable in and don't worry about anyone else! <3 <3

Wear what makes you comfortable.
None of us are perfect!
When you get home from vacation or going to the beach or whatever, do you think back on the memories & think, wow that guy I saw was chubby or that lady had the biggest thighs...probably not & nobody else cares either...if they do, they have the problem!

I worry about my thighs. We all have our things.

I have a cute one piece. I don't wear a shirt over it. I have a little wrap skirt that I wear walking from hotels to pools/beaches.

Honestly, nobody is critiquing you, we are hardest on ourselves. :)

Exactly this.

I could catalogue the things I’d like to camouflage as much as possible but the reality is that I notice these things so much more than anyone else (and if they do notice then that’s simply none of my business).

At this point my main concern is a suit that fits comfortably and stays put (doesn’t slide up my rear end and keeps my bust contained). I have a tankini and a skirted one piece (love the skirt for some extra coverage while I’m bending and squatting to keep up with my toddler). I don’t wear a t-shirt over it into the pool. I have a sleeveless t-shirt style dress I wear as a cover-up on my way to or from the pool.

You gotta be comfortable yourself in what you are wearing.

I've seen all different types of suits on different women. One of my sister-in-law is very skinny but she's not comfortable in a 2 piece much at all so she favors a 1 piece. Her sister (my other sister-in-law) has extra weight kinda all over and she's very comfortable in a 2 piece bikini.

Personally for years I've favored tankinis and for the bottom I like a skirt rather than just bikini bottoms or boy shorts. For the top an underwire is a must for me (which is hard to find a true underwire like a bra).

Don't let it get to you what you think other people are thinking. We all have something we wish would be different

I wear a one piece. I have a much bigger tummy than little bump. I am at a point where I don't let it get to me. I am a mother not a model. I have a little one and I don't have a lot of free time to myself to take extra care of myself right now to be slim again. I am lucky if I have a few minutes to use the rest room by myself. One day I will be able to focus on me again, but not now. And that's ok. Right now I rather eat what I want, drink what I want than looking perfect.

I am male concerned about something similar. Have had quite a few surgeries of late and worried about showing scars across my stomach and chest. Not to self conscious but if a child points and asks mom or dad " what's wrong with him" or " what happened to him" it could just be really akward for everyone. Think I'll just t-shirt it on the pools.

Shirt or not, you will have a great time.

I’ve heard that scar tissue needs more UV protection than normal skin. Probably a good idea to be safe with a T-shirt or UV blocking rash shirt anyway.

OP - wear what you’re comfortable in. Are you planning on sitting on a lounger and feeling like you’re on display or swimming a lot and maybe using a water slide?

Personally I prefer a one piece but I do laps sometimes too so I rarely own the ‘lazing by the pool’ swimwear. I often want small boardshorts too, especially if I swim in the ocean as it’s nice to have swimwear that stays on/in place in the waves. If it’s sunny I wear a UV rash shirt to protect my skin (pale skin and melanoma rates are really high here in Australia). I’m often very covered up when at a waterpark or in an ocean but other times, especially if swimming in the evenings I love feeling free with less swimwear fabric around me.

Don’t worry about everybody else. Wear whatever makes you comfortable. There are all shapes and sizes in every imaginable style of bathing suit there. No one will be looking at your stomach. Just wear whatever you want and enjoy yourself.

I would not worry about anyone. Middle age, had three children (c/sections). I literally look like I am 6/7 months pregnant - have looked this way for many years now (started late 40s). I wear a one piece or the two piece tankini.........regardless - there is no hiding it and do not try to/can't. Do I wish I did not have it, do I try to suck my tummy in lol of course.......but it does not stop me. It is what it is. Life is happening. It's not going anywhere even if I lost 20 pounds - surgery is the only thing that would help and that's not happening (risk of inceftions, things going wrong, etc.).

I've taken to wearing the UV shirts and my kids, too. I wear a 2 piece underneath so the bathroom is easier to handle. It also means we use less sunscreen which is a bonus!

As everyone else has said - people might see you and go "oh, they've got a bit of a tummy" but I guarantee it's more related to their own issues than you. As if it matters if you are 100 lbs or 500 lbs? Just make sure you are comfortable before you go.

As for the scar, @Timhags , my father has a giant scar down the middle of his chest from heart surgery. He doesn't care what other people think and nobody has asked when we're at the pool. If you aren't comfortable with possible questions, I definitely think a UV shirt would be helpful for YOUR peace of mind.

Best of luck to you both.

Forgot about the scar, hubby had quadruple bypass and another heart surgery not long after.......quiet a few scars on his chest and legs........does not give it a second thought........look what he has survived..........

In Europe all women wear bikinis—fat, thin, young, old. A travel guide was mentioning this at a talk I attended. She is six foot two, curvy, a bit overweight and she’s embraced the bikini custom. She loves the support the bikini tops offer as she buys them in her bra size and she uses her bikini as underwear and bra on wash day!

Anyway, she got me thinking about the benefits of the bikini and I went out and bought one. I love it. Love the support of the top—best ever in a swim suit. Love my high waisted bottoms. I’ve had twins and am 46–my body is by no means perfect. No one cares, and if they do, so what?

We are funny in North America about covering up mature bodies. It’s not just the 19 year old models that have the right to wear what they want at the pool. My body has served me well. I’ve birthed three children with it. It’s strong and fit. I should be proud of it—including its imperfections.

Definitely lose the T-shirt—so uncomfortable when wet.

I'm older now (55) and grew up in a time period where if you didn't have a bikini body, you didn't wear a bikini! I was always very thin and *could* wear a bikini but never felt like I looked great in one as I was kind of a stick. I was/am always more comfy in a one piece or tankini.

Honestly, I *don't* care what others think of me but I'm still of a mind that if you have a fat gut (and I've got one now), I don't want to have it out and exposed. That's just me. I'm not into it. Many people don't care. I've seen huge women in bikinis. They don't bother me. I'm in awe that they don't care. I just couldn't do it myself.

So, OP, wear what you think is comfy. Most people won't care about your pooch, but if it bothers you, YOU might feel self-conscious all day.
