The ABCs of An EPIC Girls' Trip! May, 2019-Q is for: Quietly Sending this Trip Report off Into an Internet Sunset (8/25)

About the time we got our food, I turned around and noticed a lady and her 2 grown kids had stolen my other table and found a choice word in jest for them. I had literally just joked to the girls at my table, “XX stole my table!!!!” and I’m not even exaggerating, 2 seconds later, I realized …

IT WAS KELLY!!! @cinderkelly
🤣😂🤣😂 Very fitting!
One thing Kelly told me while I was at her table was that she has a Landry card. She didn’t have an ADR but flashed her card and was taken to a table very quickly (and MY table no less!) and that perhaps the better tables (like mine) were saved for those guests. I did have the audacity to ask our server if that might be the case, but she denied as I thought she would. I’ll never know except that the facts stand.
I used a Landry’s card when I dined there and I had a table against the stairs, not a window. So it probably is just the luck of the draw?

I looked at my handy-dandy laminated flip book schedule (as if I hadn't had it memorized word for word weeks before)

Why does this not surprise me!
I really had no agenda but did have some FiPs that I was either going to use and be content or not use and be just as perfectly content.
Kinda love that. Freedom!
Oh, how those tunnels bring back memories of my childhood!

So they look similar enough to California that it does that. Huh!
It was early evening by the time I began my dip into the park,

You took a dip? Is this new? Where's the MK pool?

Wait... did you go in the moat????

I was enlisting the help of a passing CM to take my picture. I’ve never had a passerby refuse to do this favor and, in most cases, people are pretty happy to pause to snap a few. Truth be told, they often turn out better than the PP shots. Best part? No line and YOU get to set up the shots.

Never thought of it that way. I'm rarely asking people to take my photo.

That photo makes it look like they roped off a large area just for you. :)

Nice shot!

When one is on Main Street and feeling that way, one stops at Casey’s for corn dog nuggets. It’s what’s done.
 I know this about you. :)

There is rumor and debate over the new chicken variety,
Oh? Hadn't heard that. Doesn't sound all that great, though. I could be wrong.

I ate the entire basket but 2,

You left two????

Where else on the planet is a "meal" a meal that doesn't come with a drink?
Nowhere.
“Do the meals come with a Coke?” “No, but here is one because it’s your birthday!”
And now I know how to save on drinks! Thanks!
I don’t drink pop, like ever,
Me neither. Well, except for once a day or so.
Sadly, the piano player was just finishing his set, which made me really kinda sad. I love listening to him as I relaxed there on the Corner
Me too. Love ragtime on the piano. Especially there.
I was also sad a bit it wasn't Jim who I usually see perform.
I noticed that too when I was there.
The reason he had to finish up was because that ridiculous parade asking me to shake it started to roll by. (Sorry to all the Move It, Shake It fans, but… lame. I know there are a lot of you who love this parade, but generally speaking I avoid them like I'd avoid a 30-minute Small World wait and this one especially.)
I'm with you. I wish they would get rid of it. It's such a distraction and an eye and earsore.
Cool shot! Where is that?
I hear the auction block sells pilfered goods instead of hot red heads now.
Unfortunate.
Sorry boys, there’s lots of rum though.
I don't like rum. We wants the redhead!
It's like a daytime drama called As the World Burns.
Awww... you look adorbs. :goodvibes
a pound of water vapor with each breath…
Cool! I didn't even know this existed.

Another nice shot! :)

This one was funny as we have a nurse with the last name of Herrick; she was amused....
 I'll bet she was!
Nice!
"Here lies Eric. Met his fate at the end of a garden rake. May he rest in pieces." I must have a sick sense of humor because I find that hilarious.
:lmao: I'm laughing at your reaction to it!

Those are cool!

“Okay”, I said to myself, “people don’t just stare at trees. Ask her what she sees.” I did, and she told me all about the Hidden Pascal Game.
::yes::
For those of you who don’t know about this cute little game
I did, but didn't know there were 10.

it was getting to the point that I just wasn’t having a good time anymore.
Disney used to have benches you could just sit and relax. Sadly, those are a distant memory now.
What? I had no idea.
I headed back to HM and took a spin with the 999 Happy Haunts and since I really wasn’t all that happy anymore, they rejected my application and sent me on my way.
You'd think that if you weren't happy, they'd be even more likely to getcha.
Now this... this brings back memories.
You look... stately. Like you're above this sort of thing. Perfect!
Tonight would bring me some average bus luck with a wait of 10 minutes
Not bad.
If you know me at all, you’d quickly guess I had a warm bath to thaw out from the bus ride then settled into a chair on the balcony with my feet up watching the lightening before going to bed on the early side.
Sounds like a very nice end to your day. :)

I came close and found conditioned air. See?
I see!
Hot, and bordering on cranky

uh oh... stand back everybody!
I remember the most unimportant stupid stuff like my best friend in elementary school’s phone number
You remember that???? :faint:
but can't remember to pick up a prescription in time.
Not good. If you remember as you drop dead, it's too late.
Funny how I’m completely willing to wait 30 minutes for a better table to feed my face, but will hardly ever wait 15 minutes for a few rides or attractions.
Hmmm... interesting.
Maybe it's because you can get a FP and the ride doesn't change, but waiting for a better table will definitely change your dining experience.
so we found a place along the wall outside

Outside! in the heat!
parked Mom in her wheelchair
what? When did this happen? Wasn't it just a year or two ago that I met your mom? She certainly wasn't in a wheelchair then!
No, I wasn’t taking a ChunkyDump
After 20 minutes or so, I checked the lobby and found a couple of places in the foyer with the conditioned air; I found it to have a much higher quality of behavior and self-realization than regular air conditioning.

Oh absolutely. It's on a whole different level.
Pavlov would have been so proud.
Because you were drooling?
Mom doesn’t do well with stairs since her knees were done
well... I would suspect not if she was in a wheelchair. Unless she's got roller skills that you haven't told us about.
The stairs we didn't take:
Is that like the road not taken?
We were led to the one table without the window view.
:sad2: Of course.
I was salty.
Stand back! She's gonna blow!
I’ll bet they wondered why I spent the meal glaring at them…. (okay, not a lot, just a little)
Oooohhh... they must've felt so uncomfortable.
"Is she still staring?"
"Yes!"
"What did we do????"

Mom and I thought we’d share the dim sum basket for 2.
That looks really good!
Whoa!
Kari wasn’t feeling well at all
 I'm sorry to hear that.
Side note: I haven’t told the story yet, but sadly, I lost ALL of my photos from this day and one other day. It’s a tragic tale of phone vs. water and I had decided not to take my good camera being too heavy to carry and push the wheelchair.
Oh no!!
I had literally just joked to the girls at my table, “XX stole my table!!!!” and I’m not even exaggerating, 2 seconds later, I realized …

IT WAS KELLY!!! @cinderkelly

:lmao: You're kidding me!!!!

:rotfl:

I about died laughing. Jenn teased me mercilessly that I had JUST finished doing a bit of soft name calling and dissed a… DISser.

I immediately got up and went to her table, sat down and said, “Yo XX, you just stole my table!!!”

 Was she shocked?
so after taking a sip of her drink (she did offer, I'm not THAT rude),
"Take my table? I'm taking your drink!"
Me giving Kelly the stink eye:

Nice shot of you guys. :)
But... is this Kelly's photo, then?

One thing Kelly told me while I was at her table was that she has a Landry card. She didn’t have an ADR but flashed her card and was taken to a table very quickly (and MY table no less!) and that perhaps the better tables (like mine) were saved for those guests.
Could be. :confused3
As mentioned, I thought that there was NO way we’d even come close to making even a small dent in our food, but we finished almost all of it.
Huh! Guess you were more hungry than you thought.
I loved the raw/seared ahi in the nachos and Jenn chimed in saying, “I don’t think so, I don’t do raw fish! I wouldn’t have ordered it if I thought so!”. “Ummm, that’s what seared ahi is, Jenn! LOL!”
 Did she keep eating?
Would I hurry back to Yuck and Yeti?

I'll have a bit more to say on that on my own TR, eventually.

🤣😂🤣😂 Very fitting!

It was the most perfect piece of irony (karma) EVER. So hiliarious!!!

I used a Landry’s card when I dined there and I had a table against the stairs, not a window. So it probably is just the luck of the draw?

I guess. I was just so confused that after waiting an extra LONG time, and then asking to take the table RIGHT next to us that was cleaned and set, why wouldn't they give it to us? So weird! It was the same server so it's not like it was messing up that either.

Why does this not surprise me!

It's because I had been planning this trip for soooooooooooooooooooo long.

Kinda love that. Freedom!

I do too, but also love a plan that you COULD fall back on if things become aimless.

So they look similar enough to California that it does that. Huh!

Yes, they are almost identical.

You took a dip? Is this new? Where's the MK pool?

Wait... did you go in the moat????

The moat was empty which was a very jarring and disturbing thing.

Never thought of it that way. I'm rarely asking people to take my photo.

I don't do it a lot. Mostly to have as chapter starters or if it's partcularly nice wall or place.

That photo makes it look like they roped off a large area just for you. :)

I know!! LOL! And for 5:00 when zillions of people are flowing out of the park I was shocked at how not busy it was in that area!

 I know this about you. :)

Love me my little nuggets!

Oh? Hadn't heard that. Doesn't sound all that great, though. I could be wrong.

I have no idea when the change (if any- a rumor is a rumor) took place, and noticed not a huge difference (again, if any). They still tasted great and I love getting them, mostly because of the place they are served in.

You left two????

And now I know how to save on drinks! Thanks!

LOL! A very merry unbirthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.....

Me too. Love ragtime on the piano. Especially there.

YES!

I noticed that too when I was there.

I hope he is still there in general. I checked a couple of times, but didn't see him.

I'm with you. I wish they would get rid of it. It's such a distraction and an eye and earsore.

YES! Just not condusive to the vibe they're shooting for on Main St.

Cool shot! Where is that?

It is next to the POTC queue on the right after you go under cover.

I don't like rum. We wants the redhead!

You already have a red head. Remember? She's supposed to marry you any day... You even gave her a token of your undying devotion!

Awww... you look adorbs. :goodvibes

Aww, thank you. I look cheesy hamming it up for the camera. ;)

Cool! I didn't even know this existed.

I didn't either. It's amazing what you can find when you have WAY too much time on your hands!

Another nice shot!

Thanks!

:lmao: I'm laughing at your reaction to it!

I've never actually read the ones in the pet cemetery. I'm always in such a hurry to buzz out of there that I just bust on by.

Those are cool!

Thanks, I was actually pretty proud of them.

I did, but didn't know there were 10.

I am skeptical. I found 7 and looked ... a LOT. I think there are only 7 and haven't found any of the other 3 on any online sources.

What? I had no idea.

Yes, they were there. Espcially around the hub.

You'd think that if you weren't happy, they'd be even more likely to getcha.

Well they are 999 Happy Haunts.

Now this... this brings back memories.

I have read that on your TRs before!

You look... stately. Like you're above this sort of thing. Perfect!

I look distracted and more interested in photography than anything else.

Sounds like a very nice end to your day. :)

I love a good thunderstorm and I was so done that day. I was tired and needing a good "relax". :)

uh oh... stand back everybody!

Nah, when I get hangry, hot and irritated I usually just withdraw and get very quiet.

You remember that???? :faint:

Yeah, stupid I know.

Not good. If you remember as you drop dead, it's too late.

Nah, I"m not on anything that I HAVE to have or drop dead.

Hmmm... interesting.
Maybe it's because you can get a FP and the ride doesn't change, but waiting for a better table will definitely change your dining experience.

I can go with that. I've ridden the rides again and again, and while I'm not bored and still love them, meals are a special time for me to recharge and enjoy. I just have a harder time doing that in the middle of a melee of yelling kids, chaos and all. Not that I have a terrible time, but it does make it easier to unwind if I'm in a better place. Plus, if I'm paying Disney prices, I want a nice experience.

Outside! in the heat!

Like I said, it was very busy and there was simply no room in the lobby area.

what? When did this happen? Wasn't it just a year or two ago that I met your mom? She certainly wasn't in a wheelchair then!

I will have to wait on that story. It's a long one and I want to devote a whole chapter to it... Patience young Jedi.

Oh absolutely. It's on a whole different level.

::yes::

Because you were drooling?

No, because the air was well conditioned.

But yes, if you must know...

403379

well... I would suspect not if she was in a wheelchair. Unless she's got roller skills that you haven't told us about.

We'd parked the wheelchair before going up. She wasn't confined to it but did use to make the park touring easier on all of us.

Is that like the road not taken?

Yes. And less traveled.

Stand back! She's gonna blow!

Or cry....

Oooohhh... they must've felt so uncomfortable.
"Is she still staring?"
"Yes!"
"What did we do????"

That looks really good!

It really was! My least fave was the bao bun, but the dumplings were great!

It was ginormous!! Absolutely HUGE!

 I'm sorry to hear that.

I think we all needed rest at that point. :(

:lmao: You're kidding me!!!!

:rotfl:
No, I absolutely am not. I was the perfect storm of irony and karma.

 Was she shocked?

Yes, I think a little at first, but was just as amused at it all as I was.

"Take my table? I'm taking your drink!"

LOL! I asked her what it was and she told me to try a sip. So, I did. ;)

Nice shot of you guys. :)
But... is this Kelly's photo, then?

Yes, I knew that this was one of the things I'd want to write about and that I'd have lost, so asked her pretty soon after I got back. She posted it on FB and I snagged it from there.

Huh! Guess you were more hungry than you thought.

Apparently as there was very little left on the table.

 Did she keep eating?

Yep, she loved it. LOL! Well, at least I think she did.... @Chrystmasangel ???

I'll have a bit more to say on that on my own TR, eventually.

Oh! Looking forward to that!

When I ordered, I legit thought I was ordering a meal (I was) but “meal” means nuggets and fries…sans Coke. Where else on the planet is a "meal" a meal that doesn't come with a drink? Confused when I picked up my tray (I’d mobile ordered, so no line whatsoever), I asked, “Do the meals come with a Coke?” “No, but here is one because it’s your birthday!”

This doesn't sound right to me either. I thought meals came with drinks too.

I took a few photos of things that caught my eye- nothing special really. I just walked towards my next FP with WAY too much time on my hands.

Beautiful pictures. I love all the details. And now the song "Too Much Time on my Hands" by Styx is stuck in my head.

"Here lies Eric. Met his fate at the end of a garden rake. May he rest in pieces." I must have a sick sense of humor because I find that hilarious.

Me too!

I LOVE the Disney scavenger hunts around the properties and this was a brilliant way to use up the 30 minutes I had until my FP for HM, so I spent the next while finding 7 of the supposed 10 Pascals around the Tangled Tinkle Area.

I enjoyed this when I was touring alone. It's so pretty by the Tangled Tinkle Area. I didn't see the one on the tree so now I've got to find it.

Tiffins was too spendy this time around for Mom, but I knew we’d all want a sit down meal with air conditioning. I came close and found conditioned air. See?

I do see what you did there.

Funny how I’m completely willing to wait 30 minutes for a better table to feed my face, but will hardly ever wait 15 minutes for a few rides or attractions.

Amazing what we are willing to do in Disney.

Which meant we did get the quieter, in my opinion nicer, seating area of the upstairs area. #itwasstillloud

I agree the upstairs is quieter, but still loud.

Dim Sum Basket for Two,Pork pot stickers, shrimp siu mai, cha su bao, and pork siu mai steamed on a banana leaf, soy lime dipping sauce$15.99

Looks good.
Ahi Tuna Nachos for Twosushi grade ahi, Asian slaw, crispy fried wontons, wasabi aioli, sweet soy glaze$16.99

These look really good and shareable.

258d7d46fa9dc146999ac92487871edf-M.jpg

These are perfect if you're just a little hungry.

That's funny!

Loud
Average food
Long wait after ADR time
Reasonably priced
In the park

I agree with all of this.

This doesn't sound right to me either. I thought meals came with drinks too.

I know! Seems sillly and weird to me, because a Coke costs them all of what? $.07?

Beautiful pictures. I love all the details. And now the song "Too Much Time on my Hands" by Styx is stuck in my head.

LOL!! Sowwies!

I enjoyed this when I was touring alone. It's so pretty by the Tangled Tinkle Area. I didn't see the one on the tree so now I've got to find it.

Yep, your next challenge is to find that one that is almost invisible. I'm glad someone pointed it out; I'm not sure I'd have ever seen in!

I do see what you did there.

I can't help myself!

Amazing what we are willing to do in Disney.

I know! Sometimes we're pretty silly at Disney, huh?

I agree the upstairs is quieter, but still loud.
These look really good and shareable.

They say they are "For 2" and they mean it!

We ate at Y&Y in our last trip. Michael has a Landry card. We sat at YOUR table. q.e.d.

We had really good food there. To me it’s not a must do, but it’s a solid choice for CS at AK. And with the Landry card it does become more attractive because no reservations needed.

TABLE THIEVES!

LOL!!

I think I may get one (Landry Card). However, I'd need to research the options that ARE Landry at Disney. Might be worth it, might not...

It IS a solid choice if you need to stay in the park and is vastly superior to Harambe Market. ick. Def not a must do, but there if you need it.

In Disney the Landry's places are Y&Y, Rainforest, and TRex. There are however Landry's all over the US so maybe there are some local to you.

Then definitely not worth it to me for Disney. I very rarely go out to eat at chain places and stay local and aside from Red Lobster, McGraths, and Olive Garden we don't have much here in Salem. But it's good to know for future reference! Thank you for helping me be in the know a bit better!

I do too, but also love a plan that you COULD fall back on if things become aimless.
Good idea. I may adopt this next time I go.
Yes, they are almost identical.
Ah. I couldn't remember for sure. I thought they were similar, but...

::yes:: Hoping to experience that myself.

I love to pause and read all the tombstones (pet or otherwise) when I come off the ride.
I am skeptical. I found 7 and looked ... a LOT. I think there are only 7 and haven't found any of the other 3 on any online sources.
Well, this website shows where nine of them are. :)

Ah! So not confined to it. Good to hear.
Yes. And less traveled.
Funny.
I was going to say "less traveled", as that's what I'm most familiar with.
But I thought I'd Google it, just to be sure and... the Robert Frost poem is "The Road Not Taken"
It does, however, have the line "I took the one less traveled by"
Or cry....
oh dear...

Once upon a time there was a wall calendar for sale that had a collection of the retro attraction posters; I took a look for it in a few places this trip and it is not there.

I got that one a couple of years ago. They had a couple of different versions over 2 or 3 years and then started repeating themselves. Not sure if it was discontinued.

I’d only had a small salad earlier in the day at Satuli, so was rather peckish.

Stop pecking people. It's annoying.

I don’t drink pop, like ever, but this tasted good with my little deep fried golden pieces of heaven consumed with the most amazing view on the planet (the planet where "meals" don't come with a drink).

Sometimes, a Coke is the perfect complement to a meal.

(Sorry to all the Move It, Shake It fans, but… lame. I know there are a lot of you who love this parade, but generally speaking I avoid them like I'd avoid a 30-minute Small World wait and this one especially.)

I'm with you, sister!

As the World Burns.

I thought that was the daily news.

This one was funny as we have a nurse with the last name of Herrick; she was amused....

Nice!

Lines were too long to go on any rides

If only they had a paper FP system where you could still have a chance of getting a good ride late in the day...

"Here lies Eric. Met his fate at the end of a garden rake. May he rest in pieces." I must have a sick sense of humor because I find that hilarious.

I like it!

I did, and she told me all about the Hidden Pascal Game.

Huh. I had no idea that even existed!

Then again, I can’t remember most things anymore. Well, that’s not true, I remember the most unimportant stupid stuff like my best friend in elementary school’s phone number but can't remember to pick up a prescription in time.

I know that feeling. I can give you lots of movie quotes, though.

Funny how I’m completely willing to wait 30 minutes for a better table to feed my face, but will hardly ever wait 15 minutes for a few rides or attractions.

The joys of an annual pass...

No, I wasn’t taking a ChunkyDump

🧐

We were led to the one table without the window view. Of course. I was salty. I asked the hostess if we could have the table directly across the aisle from us, but was told no. For zero apparent reason at all.

Have a magical day!

I haven’t told the story yet, but sadly, I lost ALL of my photos from this day and one other day. It’s a tragic tale of phone vs. water and I had decided not to take my good camera being too heavy to carry and push the wheelchair.

Oh no! I'm already sad for you without even knowing the story.

IT WAS KELLY!!! @cinderkelly

I about died laughing. Jenn teased me mercilessly that I had JUST finished doing a bit of soft name calling and dissed a… DISser.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

That's too funny!

Loud
Average food
Long wait after ADR time
Reasonably priced
In the park

Gotcha. Sounds like overall a meh.

In Disney the Landry's places are Y&Y, Rainforest, and TRex. There are however Landry's all over the US so maybe there are some local to you.
I just looked in Orlando(Not Disney)
and there are quite a few, but none I think I'm likely to frequent. For me, given AK is not my favorite park (sorry Liesa...different strokes...) and I've only been to Y&Y a couple times, I don't think the Landrys card is for me.

I asked, “Do the meals come with a Coke?” “No, but here is one because it’s your birthday!” Suh-weet!! I don’t drink pop, like ever, but this tasted good with my little deep fried golden pieces of heaven consumed with the most amazing view on the planet (the planet where "meals" don't come with a drink).
I'm not sure how this is possibly my only quote from X and Y updates!!! But, here we are :)

I absolutely love the Coke at Casey's. I always tell people that the best fountain Coke on the planet can be found there. I have no idea why, but it's the truth.

Casey's also happens to be the place where someone in our family is always pixie dusted with something!! This time, it was me...oh, wait, I was the only one there. But still!! Our track record is good. And if I ever start writing my TR, you'll find out what I got!

Jenn teased me mercilessly that I had JUST finished doing a bit of soft name calling and dissed a… DISser.
This is funny! So don't tell this to anyone :rolleyes1 but a couple years ago we were in Epcot and I got so angry at the boys and Steve for some reason, I Threw down the bag I was carrying and stormed away from them. As I walked away I Started thinking how people had commented occasionally on my TR's that they'd seen me in a park or restaurant but were too shy to say hello, and then I started thinking " what if someone from the DIS just saw me throw that bag down and storm off?" You never know who you're glaring at lol!

You never know who you're glaring at lol!
Oh! I thought that was you!

:lmao:
