Backstage Magic/SoCal Short Escape & SWGE

I was just hoping for possible early morning access to see the new land to prepare ourselves for our 2020 trip to WDW. Our trip is post-SWGE reservation-only window. We aren't going to expect access; it's a wish list thing.

My hope is access to galaxy edge and that the fast passes we are given are good in there. I am not expecting any backstage tour of that part. If by September they come up with something along those lines I will not complain. From what I understand of this trip no 2 are identical

I called today, and the vacationista said that a couple days ago they got information they can tell us. Our entire group will be entering galaxys edge together during a standard reservation time. He said that we won’t find out when until our guides tell us, but he did seem to indicate there might be some surprises.

Edit: also that the first few groups will be the guinea pigs, and that they are hoping it works out.

That's good news! I wonder what it will look like for groups after the reservation period ends.

I don't go until October so I wonder if there will be any special Halloween decorations in that part of the park during the Oogie Boogie Bash? Halloween in space?? R2D2 dressed as Stitch, in a hula skirt?:joker::D

Just returned from the Southern California adventure and it was an outstanding trip. Opening day for SWGE was on our departure day, but our guides met us in DL just after noon and gave everyone in the group their reservation for the 2:00-6:00 window. I'll be interested to hear how SWGE is worked in to the tour moving forward.

That's so exciting! When did they let you know that you were getting into SWGE?

Hope you enjoyed it. Only one more week for me.

I am curious for those who go as part of a ABD group if you are able to get into Savi's Workshop to build a light saber. With that requiring reservations and long waits I wonder if it will be possible to sneak that in between all the ABD activities.

I'm really curious as to how this looks once the reservation period is done. Right now it seems like ABD guests get a 4 hr reservation (which makes sense since they are staying on site). I wonder what they'll do when it's a free for all and how that affects things like Savi's/Oga's/etc.

From what I've read in the Disneyland forum here, they will be moving to a return time window (similar to FastPass but not exactly). I've been watching on that thread as well as this one.

Yeah I've seen that. I'm more wondering how ABD will address it. Like if they can get us in without having to wait for a return time, and once we're in if we only have a certain amount of time and whatnot.
