I'm heading back to DLR for the first time in 18 years. I'm wondering what your recommendations for must eat food in the parks. I'm a foodie so the more unique the better. Please no Mickey bar/pretzels or purely instagramable treats. I like substance and good looks ;-).

Monte cristo in New Orleans square . Comes with delicious grapes. It's right next to the French cafe , I think it's called carnation cafe . But yeah its delicious and really my favorite spot to eat. Other than a corn dog from the corn dog carts .

French Market I always get a salad. Dh has gotten chicken, meatloaf, etc. everything has always been good.

I usually get a veggie skewer at bengal bbq. Dh likes chicken and beef.

Sometimes I get grilled cheese and soup at jolly holiday. Not every trip, but often.

Sometimes rancho del zocalo. Never pizza planet. Never horseshoe. Sometimes plaza inn.

I really enjoy Blue Bayou. I get salmon. But don’t go every trip.

DCA I always get pasta and salad at boardwalk pizza & pasta. We usually share.

I always get a mushroom sandwich sans mushrooms at award wieners.

I always get veggie chili at cozy cones. Sometimes twice.

Never Cocina cucamonga. Occasionally breakfast at flo’s; never meals.

Cafe Orleans. They also have beignets.

If you want walk up beignets they’re at the Mint Julep Bar to the side of French Market.

Carnation Cafe is table service on main st.

I've always wanted to eat at the blue bayou. My boyfriend told me the year we started dating that if he ever proposed to me, he would propose there .

Well you have put me to shame good sir. Haha. Sorry my brain is a bit fried at the moment . Thank you for clearing that up. 👍

No worries beignets are now on the list... There's this place near my home with amazing beignets so I'll be excited to see if they stand up to my decerning palette. I've been to WDW once years ago and I only got to HWS and AK so no judgment from my end.

Well I've never been to WDW and as far as beignets go... i've only ever had Disney's and the ones I have made so I am only speaking from personal experience. I'm sure you're from home are way better.

Carthay Circle Restaurant (upstairs): Pasta, Filet Mignon, and Chicken Tortilla soup were good.
Carthay Circle Lounge (downstairs): yummy cocktails, Vietnamese beef tacos, cheese board...there's also a cocktail where they make the ice circular, it's cool to watch (manhattan?)
Lamplight Lounge: Lobster Nachos, Ocean breeze cocktail, Mimosa flight (brunch menu), brunch burger, donuts (eat downstairs for these)
Tropical Hideaway: Loaded dole whip, bao, raspberry dole whip, you can also get bacon on your dole whip here
Alfresco Terrace is a nice quiet place to just hang, and get a drink

*Honorable mentions: mickey shaped beignets, mint julep, dole whip float, loaded baked potato soup (carnation cafe), Mickey pancakes (River Bell Terrace)

Wow I eat ALOT at the parks lol

Well, if you’re holding your beignets up to that high of a standard you'll probably like them better at the jazz kitchen express in DTD. But...they’re not Mickey shaped. 😂

Lamplight Lounge: Potato Skins, Deviled Eggs, Salmon PLT, Donuts (!)
Carthay Circle Lounge: Flatbread, Duck Confit Salad or Empanadas, Seasonal Sandwich
Bengal BBQ: Safari Skewers with extra lemon
Red Rose Tavern: Cauliflower Steak Sandwich with aioli on the side as a dipping sauce for fries
