have you ever had any ? how many times in your life did you have them ? why do you think your having ,had them ?

I did twice in my life, after I got out of the Navy for a couple years, I dreamed I went down and reenlisted and as soon as I did, I knew I made big mistake. And I a having a recurring dream now . Obviously if your having them something is deep in your mind, but I just really dont know about these things, if they have areal meaning or not, and should you do anything ?

what say you DIS ?

Oh, yes... I've had this dream over and over again many times in my adult life. I'm not sure when it started, maybe late teens? So over 20 years? Well, in the dream I die. I don't know how but I've died but I get sent to purgatory. Purgatory is like a giant waiting room... large windows that look out on to nothing, just bright lights. Faceless people sit around me at tables. So many tables, all round, maybe sit 8-10 people. IT'S SO BORING! There's nothing to do but wait! No TV's, no magazines, no internet, nothing! In one of my dreams I realized I still had my purse with my cell phone in it and to my amazement I had reception and I was trying to sneak txts to my husband to pray me out of here but he kept replying to me that I was dead.

Nothing really happens, I wake up. It's uneventful. I have no idea what it means. I'm not even Catholic, I don't even believe in purgatory.

The only other dream I've had many other times is the one where all my teeth fall out but I think everyone has that dream. Or maybe I just read that's a common dream.

I've had a recurring dream for many years. I don't quite remember when it started, but overall it has occurred maybe 50 times, several times a year.

I'm back in college, it's the final days of the semester right before exam week, and I suddenly realize I haven't been to some classes for weeks. And there are about a dozen projects I still need to do or books I still need to read.

oh, what a stretch :rolleyes1

I have had 2 that have occurred multiple times since I was young.

One first happened when I was sleeping at my grandparents house while my parents were on their annual parents only 2 day beach weekend at the end of summer.

I was probably 8.

I'm standing on a huge map of the world. I'm in the US and they are standing in Europe.
I walk over the Atlantic Ocean and then I turn around and they are in the US. I go back and forth a couple of times crying until I wake up.

I seem to have this same dream a couple times a year.

I'm probably due for it because I think the last time I had it was last November.

I wonder if its related to my parents going on vacation because it seems I always have it when they are out of town.

Another one I've had more than once but probably only 3 times total is...
We are at my mom's friend's house although they layout is our house.
First we are in a bedroom which would be my bedroom. I have the terrible feeling about these people.
We then go downstairs to the kitchen because they made us dinner.
I overhear the husband and wife talking about how they are witches and poisoned the mashed potatoes.
I start screaming to everyone not to eat but most of my family does not listen. My one sister does though and believes me. Then everyone leaves to go out somewhere and i'm stuck there with this couple who are about to kill me as they laugh that no one stayed to help me.

I think I had this dream when I was 10. My sister took me to a haunted house experience and it was an interactive thing where you'd touch things and one of them was worms but it was actually just spaghetti.
Thing is it was cold and then my hands smelled gross and were all sticky from the starch.
This also happened to be the same night my sister had to make bread of the dead for spanish class and they didn't realize how long it needed to sit to rise so they were baking it after I went to bed and it smelled sooooo yeasty.
I think the combo of haunted house, gross feeling/smelling hands and gross smelling bread as I was going to sleep made me have that dream.
I'd had it a couple more times and I wonder if I have it when I smell something gross lol.

Oh and I sometimes have dreams about having to go back to high school for 1 class and it turns into craziness between missing the bus and not having homework done and not being able to find the class. Its never exactly the same so not reoccurring but its the same type of scenario.

I have recurring dreams of my sons being young, like 3 and 4 years old; dreams of me teaching, and many many dreams of being in Lake Michigan.

I have a dream (nightmare) several times a year that someone (it's always the same person and I can see them) broke into our house in the middle of the night. I dream that I see them standing in the doorway to the bedroom and start yelling at them to get out of my house. I usually wake up right after because I'm actually yelling and screaming.

They're not exactly "recurring" but my dreams have consistency in locations. Like, the city I live in is much different, but it's consistent from dream to dream, like the locations I have to visit or how I get somewhere. Sometimes the scenarios are similar, like certain areas are dangerous, etc. I dream about Disney parks too and they are nothing like they are in reality. They are weird, like Haunted Mansion is a boat ride in one of them.

Constantly! I'm at my old job, it's like I've been re-hired or something. But I have no idea how to pick up on what I used to do or even where I should be. I'm trying desperately to look busy, but I know I don't have t be there because I have my business at home.

I often have the one where I show up for a test and realize I haven't been to this class all semester and know nothing about it. And one about someone breaking into my house that I still have every once in a while.

The unusual one I used to have a lot as a kid was just so weird. My family is in Paris (none of us have ever been there), I only know it's Paris because the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe are there, but it's the middle of the desert, sand dunes everywhere. Everyone is running through the sand from a T-Rex who's attacking and eating people. The first couple times I woke up screaming but after that I knew in the dream that I was dreaming and tried to stay in it to see what would happen but it always ended anyway.

I used to have another one where I was outside the duplex we lived in and there was a 6 foot talking ferret who only I could see. I think he must have been my spirit animal. I dreamed about him multiple times but I never remembered anything he said when I woke up.

I use to have one about King Kong coming from the empty field behind our house. I was always stuck in the indecesion of should I go in the house and be crushed or stay outside where he might see me and step on me or, conversely, not see me and step on me :)

As I got older I always had nightmares at/about my Grandmother's house. Always very scary, creepy things going on around my Great-Grandmother's bedroom or the attic. I had read that you always went to the place you were happy to fight your inner demons :) Don't know about that but I spent some wonderful times at my Grandmothers. One of my favorite places!

Oh, I told my husband about this thread and he reminded me about my dreams about the aliens coming to get me. He knows about those because I apparently act them out in my sleep. He will wake up to me walking around the room looking for places to hide because "SHHHHHHH... THE ALIENS ARE COMING!!!!" and I will be all terrified. I never remember these when I wake up though. He woke me up in the middle of one to prove it to me and I was super confused about why I was trying to burying myself with my jeans in the closet. But as soon as he woke me up I remembered - The aliens! I'm only a skeptical believer of aliens in real life, I am not a hard core alien fan so I don't know why I dream about aliens coming to get me.

I have two and one is Disney related.

In the first one I get a call from my high school. They discovered that I missed a credit in one class. If I want my diploma to be valid, I have to make up that class. But I can't go to night school. I have to take the class during the day, at the high school, with all the teenagers. And I can't just take that class and leave for the day. I have to take a full course load and stay all day. The class I need is only one semester. After I complete that class, they still won't let me "graduate". I get called into the office so they can tell me I need to make up another class. This process repeats several times. No matter how many classes I make up, they won't let me graduate. I'm trapped in high school FOREVER! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

The Disney one takes a bit of explaining beforehand. I haven't been to any of the parks in longer than I care to admit. I can afford to pay for my tickets into the parks, food, souvenirs, etc. It's the travel costs from here to FL that puts the costs over the top for me. If I could find a group to split the costs with, I could afford it. But everybody I know either can't afford Disney, doesn't want to go or won't let me go because I'm "too old for Disney World".

In my dream I find some people that will let me tag along. I don't know who. I never get a good look at their faces. We get in as soon as the MK opens. We start walking down Main Street and then one of the people I'm with turns to me and says, "Ok, you've got 20 minutes and then we have to leave." I start running around in a mad panic trying to see everything I can in 20 minutes.

oh my, that's horrifying

I have recurring dreams about the Titanic... exploring it... or during the sinking... or wandering the rusted, derelict reality under the ocean as a ghost...

I have ones about being in an elevator, and either it's falling, or else somehow the floor is tipping while I'm in it, showing me the long elevator shaft, and I'm trying to hold onto the floor to keep from falling.

Another one is that I am either in a plane that is crashing, or I am watching it crash from the ground. Some of them are so realistic, and I had a period of about a year where I would wake up from one of those dreams a couple of times a week. Sometimes I'm in a plane and we just keep taxiing and we end up just rolling down highways instead of ever taking off.

I have the ones mentioned about having missed a class in high school or college, and having to retake it, or else getting so confused by my course schedule that I forget to go to some of the classes.

I also have ones where someone is in the house, and I'm trying to get up to protect myself, but I can't move and I can't speak ... I think this is an indication I'm actually in that sleep paralysis phase during this dream ... but I'm trying so hard to move or scream out.

For the past 2 years, every single night as I try to fall asleep I dream that someone is trying to kill me. For a very long time it was smothering/suffocating. Then it shifted to being pushed off of a cliff, down a staircase or in front of a train. Lately it’s that I’m being beaten with a shovel. Very violent and graphic nightmare! Each night I gasp awake in horror and have a very hard time getting back to sleep.
I’m tired all the time.
