My DH applied for his first CIP yesterday. He is 0/24 and has a high credit score. Got pending. Called and the message said will let you know in 30 days. How often do you call to check on it? Sure hope it doesn't take that long!
I call every few hours. Thirty days is where most start. The message will change soon. Two weeks is good. 7-10 not good.

Fingers crossed for you!

Good point about upgrading now to take advantage of the 1/1 to 6/30 Dell credit. That's another ~$100 value that helps to offset the big Biz Plat fee.

Now I've got a bit of a dilemma that I'm going to noodle through. I checked the link on DoC and got the upgrade offer on my BGR and Biz Green. I'm seriously considering the offer, but which card should I upgrade? The spend isn't an issue.

I got the Biz Green in late July 2018 and the BGR in early November 2018. Both have their AFs waived for the first year, so there's no prorated AF to be refunded on either card.

I was planning to keep my BGR another year because I actually use the 3x gas category and value the 20k support links. But, I've already used two of the BGR's 20k support clicks this year, which leaves only one 15k support click left. If I upgrade the BGR, will that reset the 55k support click limit on the card, allowing me a fresh set of 3x 15k clicks and 1x 10k click? Not sure. I couldn't find a clear answer searching reddit.

I was planning to cancel my Biz Green (it really is a sh*t card) after it hits a year next month; or I could upgrade it. If I upgrade my BGR to the Biz Plat, then I could upgrade the Biz Green to Biz Gold (BGR is no longer available) after next month to keep Amex happy and probably get some 20k support links out of it (At only 5k per click, I haven't used any of the Biz Green's 55k support click limit so that's not an issue). But with the BGR, I'm AF free until probably December. If I upgrade the BGR to the Biz Plat, I'll be on the hook for the Biz Plat's $595 AF; and if I upgrade the Biz Green to the Biz Gold, that's another $295 AF.

Yeah... leaning towards upgrading the Biz Green to the Biz Plat and keeping my BGR AF free for another half a year.

I also got the Biz Plat in late July 2018, so that's coming up for renewal.

I accepted a retention offer to keep my personal Plat for another year. (Interestingly, my personal Plat is a converted MB Plat, so even though it's now a vanilla Plat it still doesn't generate any support clicks.) If I upgrade the Biz Green to the Biz Plat, that's three Platinum cards in my wallet. Upgrading the Biz Green to a Biz Plat means I'll be canceling my existing Biz Plat after it hits a year next month. Normally, I'd call Amex to fish for a retention offer before making a decision whether to keep or close an AF card, but I don't need three Platinums. And frankly, I don't think I'd get one a retention offer. Spend on my Biz Plat has been mediocre (but apparently enough to keep Amex happy). I'm also a bit embarrassed at the thought of calling Amex for a retention offer and having the rep read off all my Amex cards, including the Plat and an upgrade Biz Plat, and ask why I'd even want or need to keep another Biz Plat. So I'll treat the upgrade offer like a retention offer; points are points.

TL;DR: I think I'm going to upgrade my Biz Green to the Biz Plat, but I don't want to make a decision while I'm sleep deprived.

Thanks for these thoughts. I got the Biz Green last August and the Hilton Biz in September. Neither are cards that I want to keep long term, but do want to avoid the pop-up with Amex. We spend lots with Amex every month, just not on these two cards. I could upgrade the Biz Green to the Biz Plat and then cancel my other Biz Plat when it comes due in Oct. I thought about seeing if they would do a retention offer with the Hilton Biz. My original thought was to cancel one to give space for other Amex cards. Anyway, appreciate these late night thoughts.

I am ready to apply for CIP#2 also. But now worried about same application, same address, same last name, same referral as DD all within a few days. It shouldn't make a difference, right?? I am just always a worrier.

How long do Amex referral bonuses typically take to post. P2 referred me to Delta Gold SkyMiles from his Platinum on 6/5 (instant approval). Card was received and activated yesterday. Just curious when I should be on the lookout. Thanks!!

And finally really caught up and apparently everyone else knew it was a pickle and not a cucumber. But I guess technically same thing, and still dumb! lol Everyone else gets yummy looking stuff and we get a pickle/cucumber. So sad.

I’ll trade you the popcorn I got for the pickle. My 3 favorite food items at the Renaissance Festival are turkey drumsticks, pickles (the puns the sellers use are just icing on the cake), and warm apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream. Is it September yet?

Has your pop up said anything about having the balance on the BBP? Taking advantage of the 0%? Both DH and I will have a balance for the next little bit while I pay off this DVC. I don’t have an answer for you and also at a loss...but trying to gather all information.
I’ve been trying to be gather information too. I thought paying down that balance and increased spend would do it. I’m going to get it down to $0 and see what happens.

I can’t remember the exact wording of the pop up but nothing about taking advantage of 0%. Something about based on history and bonuses not eligible

Fellow sag here and I hate pickles! (And cucumbers to boot). First we get screwed having our birthdays so close to Christmas now we get crummy snacks at Disney???? I’m a Mickey bar or Mickey pretzel with cheese dip girl

Applied with DH's link! 30 days, as usual. I've only ever gotten one instant approval with Chase. Time to check the status line all day...
I enjoy calling every...20 minutes. OK OK...it’s actually every 15 minutes hahaha.

Usually 2-3 days, maybe 4.

But with the DPs about SW GC purchases not triggering the airline fee credit starting around 6/5, and @SouthFayetteFan's repost that spend from 6/7 didn't seem to be counting towards MSR, who knows if this is a glitch and how widespread it is.

All this kind of reminds me of what happened here:

Based on your history with American Express welcome offers, introductory APR offers, or the number of cards you have opened and closed, you are not eligible to receive this welcome offer.

We have not yet performed a credit check. Would you still like to proceed?

The BBP has a 0% APR in the first year. I've seen DPs of the pop up happening when you're carrying a balance on the BBP, and it going away when you pay it down/off.

I think this has been discussed before but interesting DP on my SPG lux or Bonbon Boundless or whatever it’s called. Booked a hotel in VA beach they charge the first night as a deposit ($425) got my $300 credit. Canceled the room, refund processed and credit not clawed back.
So for anyone unsure if you could use the $300 credit this is a good loophole. This puts the card at $150 fee including the 50k night very which i value at way more than $150. Plus the global entry credit helps too

I just called. He was approved! Yippee!! So excited and happy to have decided to follow more, start posting, and join the ride with you all!
Yay! Congratulations!
I think you may have the new record for quickest non-instant approval reported on the thread :)
:cheer2:party::cheer2:

Edit: D'oh. Too many CIP apps going on, not a new record. Record's still holding at 2 hours if I'm remembering right.

Ah ok I think since I didn’t see 0% I missed that. I paid it down for over $6k to $2.8K balance. I’m going to pay it off this week and try again next week I’ll keep everyone posted

Really? Wow! I had no idea how long it would take. I have read so much, but it is hard to remember everything. I am so happy to be joining this now, but also don't want to get ahead of myself. I started a spread sheet too - so I can keep track of when we each apply and what cards we have.
