AP prices increased [6/18/2019]

We go for nine nights each summer and get Platinum passes. We schedule it so we get two trips in one annual pass year. With the price increases of daily tickets over the last few years, it still saves us almost $500 as a family of three to buy the AP plus we get all of the discounts on food and shopping. It doesnt make the increase in AP price any easier to stomach but it is still the cheaper option.

@Robo may know, but I don't think the prices will bridge since Disney now has those date-based tickets and know when you bought them originally. Plus, I didn't think they price-bridged tickets purchased at Disney directly.
when I bridged prior, the tickets were bought direct with Disney. But yes, with the date based tickets now, that may be the game changer. But the answer that it's left to guest members discretion makes me suspicious that it obviously isn't anything set in stone.

I'm interested to see how this goes. As a Florida resident these prices are getting to be a little much even for me. With a baby on the way I will need to crunch the numbers and see if the special 4 day play passes they offer will work better for us to buy and just go. The 4 day ticket for 2019 was $195 good from January to June. So that's around $50/pp per day.

Platinum Plus: 22.6% increase for non-FL residents, 17.7% for FL residents
Platinum: 25% increase for non-FL residents, 20% for FL residents

Ouch.

This really, really hurts. After breaking our annual Disney tradition last year due to cancer, we planned 2020 to be the Year of Disney where DH and I would upgrade to APs on our Christmas trip this year and we would return on multiple short couples trips through the year plus a big blowout family trip next August.

Looks like I am going to have to significantly increase our budget for this. An extra $250pp is going to be painful. And yet, I don't think it will deter us. I have been looking forward to this for so long. I am price sensitive so this SHOULD stop me from going but I doubt it.

Than again, it's got me very very worried about my 2020 plans. Food has gone up drastically in price too. And now I hear Disney hotels are also going to be very expensive - even the values. A little stressed at how stretched our budget is going to be.

Well I had seriously been considering purchasing an AP, but it looks like that won’t be happening now. :sad1:
I am really bummed about this. A little warning would have been nice.

Seriously....do people just have bottomless pockets these days? It has been insane price increase after insane price increase and people still can’t seem to get enough!

It’s about to be enough for me, unfortunately.
When it comes to Disney, yes they do.

I can't help but wonder how people afford to keep going and going and going, but I know it's none of my business. Can't help but think it, though!

They will push it as far as they can and see if the market can withstand it. I renew every December, we will see when the time comes. Does anyone know the renewal prices? Thx

Perhaps they will roll out a new Disney Visa card next... you know... to help everyone "pay" for these increases.

We're local to WDW and see that the Weekday Select is a reasonable option, IF you use it. I'm holding off on purchasing that AP until the window for other attractions (besides SWGE and Mickey and Minnies) are going to be open.

Ugh, over the past TWO DAYS was literally the first time I considered getting an AP, not because of GE, but because of trips we have coming up. Now I don't know if it'll be worth it. Grrr.

This is out of control.
$900 is roughly equivalent to almost 8 days of tickets! If you're an out of stater that's going to require almost 2 weeks of trips just to break even!
As long as enough people pay it it’s not out of control, it’s just good business. (Personally a 25% jump tells me they are trying to cut back on the amount of out of state AP holders.)

Well, I guess that remains to be seen. I know with every price increase or policy change, people complain & then eventually they quiet down & go along. One of these times, that will change.

On another thread someone was talking issues about getting a FP on slinky dog. Someone else mentioned do the paid morning magic, it's great.

I'm sure disney sees people are more than happy to pay $ 80-100 for a couple of rides and toast , so adding an 100 or so to AP should cause no issues at all.

Ours expire in August, and now that our kids are a bit older, we have been talking about taking a break from Disney and trying some other things, and this just is icing on the cake. We've been feeling the money gouging the last few years, and its really gotten to the point where we just can't justify these prices. We are DVC so will still go, but much less frequently and not on AP's unless there is an amazing DVC offer. We can rent our points and use that money for some other really nice vacations elsewhere and try some new things!
