I personally think it'll be more than 10 minutes to fill up. I know everyone says Pandora filled up in "minutes" but i know it was longer than 10 minutes because I booked, told my friend and she didn't get to it that quickly and still got a spot. Not the time she wanted, but a spot. And this was when silver/gold could get in.

It'll all depend on how many slots they have and how many days. I'm guessing Aug 11-21 with 3-4, 4 hour slots per day. We shall see.
That would be the best case scenario - for sure!! And you'd think they would want as many spots open as possible, because many Platinum AP's do not live locally and will help boost sagging reservations. I'm kind of surprised they didn't make an on-site reservation a requirement.

Pandora preview was while most in SE were still in school, so I would predict IF this happens it will be after most in SE go back to school.

IF they keep the AP restrictions, don't add DVC to previews AND skip the big media previews (they've already gone to DL and it's the same) then I don't see them as open for 10-11 days. And I don't see it as early as 11th. Latest aerials show lots of work to be done.

I doubt that many slots. 4 slots at 4 hours a piece would be 12 hours. There is no feasible way that would work- it would need a reservation system like Disneyland and that had been planned and this just doesn’t seem as organized as you’d think. Pandora had 1 hour in between slots so I’m assuming the same will be done here.

If I recall correctly, the Toy Story post-view event -- which had around 20 or so days available with two slots each morning -- was filled within about 2 hours of going live. They kept the numbers down for each of those slots (a few hundred at most) and it was open to Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier. There are really too many variable to make an apples-to-apples comparison here, but I do not expect the registrations to last more than hour given the demand. Additionally, as with past events, I think this is more of a "shoot first" situation (like Han - the special edition changes never happened) - many APs will sign up and try to figure out the logistics of actually attending later.

We could go to Disneyland and experience it with minimal hassle. Looks like wait times were much lower than expected yesterday.

yeah, it worked really well, but do keep in mind a lot of people (CMs, AP holders, etc.) were blacked out so that limited it. Plus they had the month of reservations so the "die hards" who had to be there I am sure likely made plans during that period.

It also just worked really well with the virtual queue and reservation system for Savi's and Oga's. So the land did reach capacity about 1 hour after park opening (which was 8:00am) but even if you got there late you would get on the virtual queue and likely get in within a few hours. They really did handle it well

Despite all those factors I still was expecting larger crowds, so it is interesting - just saying there were a lot of other factors that will not be the case for WDW when GE opens

I'm just guessing that because Pandora was 2 weekends for AP - May 13-22 2017 , then opened on May 27. I read somewhere else about the 11th.

I’m one that needs to sign up then worry about the logistics as I will be at home in uk during preview window so I need the reservation for the preview before I start booking flights and accommodation. That’s least of my worries currently. It’s just getting a preview spot that is my concern

I would think they would do at least 3 slots a day at 4 hours each which an hour in between - so that would be 3*4 + 2 for the hours in between) would be 14 hours, which can be done ... the Disneyland ones had their slots overlap by an hour - not sure if they would do that here or not

I believe the Disneyland ones were like 3,000 people per slot. so at a minimum we would be at like 9,000 per day, I would think. and if they do it even for a week, that would be 27,000 people.

No. I’m talking about the present, not the previews. The wait yesterday for smugglers run was 35 minutes.

Still have a VIP tour booked for Sept 10. 2 of us (me and husband) so far, looking for more folks--- its $425 an hour, divided by however many of us, for 7 hours...we can do whatever we want! Spur of the moment choices or decide things in advance etc... no, no info yet on how SWGE will be included, but it would be a big part of our day---- get with me and get in on it!!!

so am I :confused3

A lot of passes were blacked out for yesterday and DLR is very much a locals park so a lot of locals couldn't go, unless they wanted to pay for an extra ticket and if they were willing to do that I think they would have gone during the reservation period and thus not needed to go yesterday

I saw a wait of 235 min, someone posted a screenshot from the app.

It spiked in what was reported/showen right after opening as the queue was filling up but I don't think it ever actually was that long - for most of the day it was under 60 mins

This chart was put out and shows the wait times ... the dots represented what was reported/shown but the solid lines shows what was more likely experienced by people:

411611

Disney will absolutely have media days for SWGE at Disney World. They won’t miss an opportunity to invite the bloggers and people from local areas to visit the new land in their home park. Granted, they probably went to Disneyland as well, but it’s another opportunity to see a new land so I believe they would be there.

I think it depends on when they would decide to open up the park. 9am? Ok then probably only 2 slots per day at 4 hours each. 6am? Maybe more. It’s because we are all in the dark about what Disney wants to do. They have told us one thing- that AP previews will be before August 29. It would be great if they told us more, but alas, that is not Disney at all.

Yeah, there's no way Disney will just say to all the Media on the East Coast, sorry, you wanted to see GE, you should have gone to CA to see it, we aren't having anything in FL.

I think other than the lands being the same everything else about how things will work out, crowds, etc will be a completely new experience for WDW. I don't look at anything happening in DL to be an indication of what we will experience. This will be a whole new level of ........... everything. If I were Disney, I would be concerned about how it works out at WDW ... especially since they seem to plan to literally just open for a free for all.

I'm just guessing that because Pandora was 2 weekends for AP - May 13-22 2017 , then opened on May 27. I read somewhere else about the 11th.

But Pandora had DVC and ALL AP passholders included. So far no DVC and LOTS of AP holders blocked-out. If kept in proportion that would mean less slots.

Definitely - maybe not as many days and maybe they won't have as large of an Opening ceremony ... but they will do something .. so I would think at least the 27th and 28th would be set aside for media and last minute things to get the land ready for full opening
