An American <Melting> in Paris

Here now until Friday after arriving last night from three nights in Paris. It is HOT! 🥵 If anyone has questions from an American’s point of view (who has visited WDW ~13 times), I’ll watch while queued and try to respond.

Yup, it's hot! Good luck on that! I saw they installed some misting fans, stay hydrated!

To keep you entertained while you are in queue:
- Any favourite rides already?
- Anything that pleasantly surprised you?
- Anything you weren't prepared for?

We’ve already been on Big Thunder twice and my daughter wants to do it again when it’s dark. She’s 10 by the way. We think the park is beautiful. In terms of maintenance, we have noticed them painting some spots in the middle of the day and a bit more wear in areas than WDW. Also, the landscaping clearly hasn’t been trimmed in some areas in a while (Alice’s Labyrinth).

Loved Phantom Manor and Pirates of the Caribbean. Small World has some nice North America touches (US, Canada).

Also, queue jumpers are becoming annoying. Every major ride we’ve been on have had people weaving their way through the line, mostly on their cell phone, waving to the single member of their family 20 minutes ahead in the line.

However, this park is really growing on us. It’s very beautiful!

Yes, lots of separated family members weaving up the lines....

Pirates must have just reopened - it was closed last week.

My girls (15 and 12) also loved Big Thunder - rode it 4 times.

Both Pirates and Phantom manor were down from park opening until about noon yesterday. Cast members couldn’t give a reason nor an estimated opening time. We just kept checking the app. Wait times got initially high after they opened, but both dropped to about 5-15 minutes when we rode late in the day.

Pirates was closed for refurbishment for a while.

Took the opportunity to sleep in this morning and stayed by the pool because it’s so hot out. Getting ready to head to Studios for a few hours and then back to Disneyland.

Have you been to Mickey and the Magicien in the Studios yet? Brilliant show (hopefully the theather is air conditioned!!)

We are visiting from the US and arrive in DLP tomorrow, staying at the Disneyland Hotel. We have been in London and Paris for the past week and with travel time there will have a day and a half. We are not big on thrill rides and don’t have kids so hopefully we will get to see all we want in both parks. We are prioritizing attractions that are only here and then certain ones we have to do that are at WDW and DL such as Small World and Star Tours. Tomorrow we have lunch at Walt’s and dinner at Chez Remy. On Monday is lunch at Silver Spur Steakhouse and will do some sort of CS for dinner after the parade. The other family members have food allergies so will see what works best.

We'll have dinner at Remy's tomorrow as well :) really looking forward to this, and then on Monday, I got an e-mail they had space for the Princess Breakfast and pointed out my AP discount (Which I normally forget about till I am at the register), so we decided to go for it as well. The breakfast selection looked nice when I looked up some reviews.

How was your dinner at Chez Remy? Ours was wonderful. We had a 6 pm reservation but around 5 saw Ratatouille had an almost hour wait and were afraid to be late so went to the restaurant and asked if they could seat us earlier and they were able to do so with maybe a 5 minute wait if that. They did a great job with the food allergies of my family members and we all enjoyed it. We really liked lunch at Walt’s as well.

It was nice, we were indeed also seated very shortly after arriving, but then we had to wait 10 minutes before the waitress came to take our orders (then it was up to speed). It was a nice meal, not something I would run back to. My steak was delicious and prepared just right, the theming is really nice.

Yes we waited a bit until the waitress came to us as well and then because of food allergies for my family members she went and got someone else to take care of us. I am glad I declined the appetizer. I had trouble finishing the steak with the au gratin potatoes and ratatouille but of course made room for dessert. It was really good.

I loved Walt's & Chez Remy! I'm a very picky eater and both were very accommodating to me. Also, the food was MUCH better than I expected. We also ate at Toad's Hall and that was really good as well.

Hope you all had a GREAT time!!

What's 2 of your favorite quick service and 2 of your favorite table services restaurants in all of DLP (both parks and Disney Village). I"ll be on my honeymoon in October staying right near Disneyland Paris Golf Course. We are hoping to get 2 full days in at DLP with the other days geared more towards sightseeing and relaxing. If you have any suggestions on how to plan a trip to DLP i'd really appreciate it! I went to Disney World in December 2019 and had a full spreadsheet of prep and plans, but DLP is soooo different!

We actually ate at pretty much all TS because of food allergies. We had lunch at Walt’s on arrival day. Then dinner at Chez Remy’s. The next day we had lunch at Silver Spur Steakhouse. We enjoyed our meals. It is so easy to hop between the 2 parks. We loved the Disneyland Hotel. Some attractions are in both English and French and some in just French but not a problem. A must see is the Mickey and the Magician show at Walt Disney Studios. Get there an hour before show time. The 5:30 pm parade is wonderful as was the nighttime Illuminations but again stake out a spot an hour before. We actually liked this IASM the best. Phantom Manor was slightly different than Haunted Mansion and really enjoyed it. Peter Pan was a little different and liked it better. We loved Ratatouille and can’t wait until it comes to WDW. We don’t really go on thrill rides so can’t comment on them. Because we stayed at one of the Disney hotels we got to come into both parks at 8:30 am where they usually do not open until 10 so took advantage of that time with little to no waits for popular rides. Hope this helps.
