Wanted to update on the cake we ordered for my nephew’s birthday from AKL Private Dining. I had seen an identical cake on this thread & used the photo to aid in my request. Ours, however, was chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting on the inside and a layer of vanilla buttercream over the chocolate on top so that the colors would show. We had the cake delivered to Boma on 6/28/19 & it was $85 total. The server asked if we’d like it added to the bill or payed for separately. (We just added it.) We were thrilled with the outcome & my nephew was so excited! Thank you so much to the poster who initially shared it!! And you were right; it was even more vibrant and lovely in person!

Your cake is super cute!!!

I'm so excited in reading & seeing all of these cakes. I've been to DW five times, but haven't been since 2008. My 30 DS wanted to go this year, especially to see the Star Wars area. My DH passed away June 2017, my son & I felt it was time to move forward & my DH loved "Goofy", he had a hat & all.

Well, Michael (DS) wanted to go at Christmas time, I said perfect. I've changed our plans & decided to stay @ WL (our favorite place to stay). Well, I want to have a cake delivered to the room or perhaps for supper in WCC with "Goofy" on top of the cake. Jim & I had our 20th anniversary @ the WL, we had a chocolate ganache cake delivered to our room.

But... this time it's got to be bright, & colorful ... I want them to write on the plate or somewhere
Cherished Memories & a New Goofy Outlook
I can't find anywhere on the forum "goofy cakes", does anyone make them?

Any assistance would be great, any suggestions for a bright cake, would be greatly appreciated w/pics too.

Thanks,
jean

Hi! We’ve only ordered a cake at Disney four times, so I’m definitely not an expert, but your story was touching & I thought I’d share a couple of things that may help.

First, I noticed on Page 1 that Goofy is one of the white chocolate characters you can get on a cake, so maybe that is an option to consider. As you can see in my avatar photo, we’ve ordered a cake with a white chocolate Stitch character before, and we were very pleased with the outcome. We opted not to get ours painted bc it would’ve been too much blue, but you could get yours painted with Goofy’s bright colors. It’s a very good size piece of solid chocolate that really stands out. :)

Another option I’ve seen, although not exactly custom, is the Goofy character cake at Amorette’s. It’s still listed on the menu, so must still be available. And even if you don’t want to purchase that one, it could possibly give you some ideas for a custom cake to order. Hopefully some other experts here can give you plenty more ideas to choose from for your cake, too, and you’ll end up with exactly what you’re looking for to honor your DH.

Thank you for the suggestions. Love the Stitch cake. I can see Goofy now in his swim trunks & beach towel & a palm tree. (That’s my Jim)

You’ve been a great help. You’re a life saver.

So excited! Just ordered a Tiki Room inspired two tier mini cake for my daughter's 16th birthday. We are having afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. Pat answered the phone without me having to leave a message (I really thought I would need to and then play phone tag). Cost is $68. It will have fondant to look like wood, tropical flowers and tiki type things, a tiki mask and a bigger tropical flower on top. I can't wait to see. I will, of course post pictures. Our reservation is for July 14th!
I can't wait to see!!!

Anniversary cake, Contemporary Resort, room delivery while we were at the parks (I did not order anything special--plates, silverware, cloth napkins on typical room service tray). The total was approximately $73 for the six inch buttercream cake, $5 delivery, 18% gratuity, and taxes. The cake was chocolate, white buttercream with chocolate mouse inside. The cake tasted wonderful.

Sorry the pictures are all sideways, I am not sure how to fix it.

You could definitely do a Goofy inspired cake in Goofy's colors as well. Or do one with the white chocolate goofy as a topper and have them paint it with his color. You could also do a cake with a screen printed Goofy on the chocolate as well. You could do a cake that is like his hat in the green with the black belt around it and then have the chocolate Goofy on top. I look forward to seeing what you do.

@jdg1340, this is old, but it might help! Our youngest son LOVED it!

Here's my report from 2015 with photos!

Thanks so much to lurkyloo and everyone else for all the great advice on this thread! We loved our Goofy-themed cake - ordered from the Contemporary and served at Chef Mickey's. We worked with Brian and Donald via e-mail and then ordered via phone.

The details:
6" vanilla cake with vanilla frosting
blue fondant with mickey head balloons
hand-painted chocolate Goofy on top

The cost:
We paid $74, minus TIW discount but + tip. It would have been $68 if we went with buttercream frosting instead of fondant.

The serving size:
I'm so glad we went with the 6" cake - it easily served our party of seven and we had a couple pieces left over.

The taste:
The cake was fine - we're not huge cake fans in the first place. But the fondant was outstanding - my favorite part! And the white chocolate goofy on top was yummy and so big that it lasted a very long time.

Additional info and value:
I'm also really glad we went with fondant. It looked great and the photos don't do it justice. When we checked in for our Chef Mickey's ADR, the CM seating us was very excited - she said she picked up the cake and remembered it. In fact, she told us she took a photo of it and sent it to her parents. Loved the enthusiasm!

Because we're not huge cake fans, I didn't expect to feel like this was a good value. But the final product was so well done, and it brought so much joy to our birthday boy that it was completely worth the price. I'm already thinking about what we can celebrate next that requires a cake. Might go with a mini cake next time, but will definitely plan to order a custom cake again!

Thank you for the suggestions, y'all have had such wonderful ideas. When should I order it? We won't be there until Dec 21st, and leave on Dec 26th.

I would wait until November to place the order, then call back a few days before delivery to make sure they have all the details correct.

I usually order a month to 3 weeks ahead of time. Lots of time to figure out what kind of design you want. Also be sure to use the first post on this thread to help with ordering. It hasn't failed me yet when ordering a cake. Let us know what you decide!

Just placed our order for DS's Stitch birthday cake in August. Pat was so great and made the process a breeze! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Can you please share pics when you do? Also what is price you were quoted? Trying to prepare to order one for daughter's 13th birthday in December :)

Hi everyone!

I'm going to Disney the first week of November and our group has 16 people in it. Our arrival day is my aunt's birthday (she'll be 78 or 79--I need to get that straight)! We are staying at the GF and have a dinner planned at Citricos for the entire group. I'm thinking I want to order a cake for the group.

I do know that I don't want fondant. I also know I need to get everyone a piece of cake. What do you think about the 8 inch versus the 10 inch?

I've made it through the first 30 or so pages of this thread and am overwhelmed. I'm trying to find a way to easily see lots of pictures but it's taking some time. Does anyone who regularly reads here know of some good pics for an adult cake, someone who is probably not a Disney freak or has a favorite character, but we'd like to keep the cake somewhat on theme with the vacation. So, something feminine, not overwhelmingly Disney, and adult? I've found a few of the mini-cake designs I like and saved them but if anything hits you as "oh I had a cake that fits the bill" I'd love to see the pictures.

The last time I ordered a cake was probably 10 years ago. See my avatar pic. It was for my daughter's 18th birthday. The cake was really pretty, but it was actually kind of awful tasting. Nothing about it tasted good. I certainly hope they have improved.

I've never ordered a cake from Disney so I don't know how tall their single tier cakes are, but from making tons at home, I can tell you that an 8" cut into 16 pieces (if you cut it like a pie) would give you slices that are about 1.5" wide along the outside and 4" long. Depending on how tall the tier is and how much cake people want, that could work, but the slices will be a little smaller and you'd likely have no leftovers. A 10" cut into 16 equal slices would yield slices that are about 2" wide along the outside and 5" long. I often make a 10" at my kids' birthday parties and usually get 20 slices out of it, with a few a little smaller for the kids who love the idea of cake but never care to eat a whole slice and a little bigger slices for the adults. I think an 8" would work, but I'd personally go with the 10".

As for theme, what about a simple yet elegant look with cream color frosting, the white chocolate 3D castle topper, and gold (or her favorite color) flowers?

Thanks! Your idea sound pretty. I need to go through the cake threads more to find a pic of the 3D castle topper.

Just wanted to say thanks so much for this thread. A few weeks ago I ordered my first ever Disney cake! It was such a breeze, and really reasonable (by Disney standards).

We had the standard vanilla Mickey dome cake delivered to our villa at Bay Lake Tower. The cake was delicious, and the woman who delivered it from private dining made a really big, fun deal (I think she thought the cake was for my 5 year old son who answered the door, rather than for my 69 year old father in law). Anyway, the cake was delivered with candles, utensils, plates, etc. There were 3 adults and 2 kids, and the cake lasted about 3 days of al of us picking at it. Ha. I wouldn’t hesitate to do this again! Our cake was simple, yet delicious, and the whole experience was really fun. We had it delivered at 3:00, so after the kids had napped, but before we were headed back to a park fro the evening.
