UPDATED 01/14/20 - The FW DISMeet 2020-See Post #283 For Latest News and Updates

This get together just keeps getting better and better!
I was going to bring name tags. Until I am around a person for awhile, I can't remember names. I call it chemo brain.

I was thinking the same about name tags, not real good at remembering names, friendofeeyore, I call it CRS, Can't remember ****!

I made a sample logo. We don't have to use it but just thought I'd whip something up. Trust me, I won't be offended if we don't use it. Just thought I'd share.
I'm liking that. Maybe change the lettering to Fort style letters. What do y'all think.
@Bishoparc if people like it, is there a way to send me a pdf of it full size?
I could probably get the company we deal with at work to print some signs

Okay Arc here my suggestions. I like the colors btw.

"Rendezvous" to replace "Roundup" (rendezvous means 'let's all meet at this place at this time').

"October 2020" to replace "2020". (more specific to the event)

The words "Camping Forum" can you pull them in more towards the center of the circle so they are not touching the brown outer circle? I would like to see those words completely surrounded by the orange color.

Looks good.

Well it's about time to unsticky this thread now for a while and do a roll call of dates and who's coming. I've gotten some info from the TA but want to verify it. And also it's time to discuss other activities and allow all the volunteers to take over details on the activities (form committees, have meetings, follow Robert's Rules of Order, post minutes, yada yada-just kidding).

PS - i've seen the Fort font (if that's a real phrase) referred to as "wood" or "log" if that's any help.

Grumpy Aggie wasn't sure the word Rendezvous as is more than one syllable.
Yes, we love what Bishopar designed with other changes listed. Bring it on!

Okay. Let's start the fun part:

Those of us at the Gulf DISMeet kicked around some ideas for other activities. Folks have their own plans for Disney, activities, and the parks so this was a list of what we came up with that wouldn't be too intrusive. Feel free to offer comments that support them or not (won't hurt my feelings) or throw out a suggested activity and let the group kick it around.
  • Welcome Event/Lunch - already mentioned and on 1st full day Monday October 12, 2020
  • Monorail Crawl - visit adult establishments at the Contemp, Poly, and GrandF and leave the driving to Disney (may want to plan this on two different nights in case folks might be in the parks on one of them)
  • Putt putt contest - folks individually or in groups play a specific pp course during the week and turn in scorecards to a scorekeeper. Winner announced at end of the week (need a tie breaker method)
  • Site Decorating Contest - given we will be at the Fort in the leadup to Halloween, a decorating contest seems like a natural. Need judges and a criteria. My one piece of advice is think beyond inflatables. Let your imagination GO!
  • Other ideas: our own Fort 5k Walk one morning. No fee, no tshirt, but early morning at the Fort is a beautiful time. Designate one or two nights to try to attend the Campfire Singalong. Our own little golf cart parade around the loop? Would we have enough carts in the group to make this worth while?
  • What else can you think of? Let's grow the list and take the top couple ideas maybe.

These events, once decided upon, will need volunteers to organize them so if one strikes your fancy, speak up and claim it. And these don't have to be one-person roles. Pair up, form a committee, do whatever.

Okay I have to get to work this morning (darn it).

I had a friend suggest this to me and it is kind of cool. It is the Amazing Race at Disney World. We can make it so you don't have to go to a park. If there is interest I will spearhead and come up with the challenges unless someone else wants to. Here is what i am talking about https://touringplans.com/blog/2015/05/26/amazing-race-around-disney-world/
I have never watched this show but I just read the link you posted and I think it sounds absolutely awesome! Our family would love to participate in something like this!

We were just throwing around ideas here this morning- I’m wondering if we could come up with something fun for the kids to all do together- just to get to know each other and make some new friendships! We haven’t come up with any brilliant ideas but did think of maybe setting up a pizza party/ lunch type thing at the smaller pool- order some pizzas from Pizza Hut or someplace else, and just let the kids hang out, eat, and swim for a few hours? Also looking for any other ideas that might be better :goodvibes :)

How about bags (cornhole) tournament? I'm sure enough people have boards that we could have multiple games going. I would be willing to handle that

Kris, we really like this idea and I'm sure you could easily figure out how to do it around The Fort only or maybe boat to Poly or Floridian or Wilderness lodge

Moving the June 27, 2019 contents of post #1 on down here for posterity so I can update #1.

Our registration window solely for DIS Members has come and gone. Now is the time for you folks to invite your friends, neighbors, family, camping cohorts, or whomever. Please share the signup form with them that I had sent you and ask them to fill in your DIS user name (or better yet, write it in there for them) so that we know that they are an acquaintance of yours and (I assume) you will want to be placed in campsites near each other.

We have filled up slightly over half our campsites with very few Full sites left but several Premiums still. Right now the regular Disney booking tool shows the weekends unavailable for Premium in our contract time frame. There are still a handful of cabins as well which are a good value compared to rack.

Because of the July 4th holiday coming up let's allow this round of sign-up to go until Monday July 8, 2019. After that we'll do a roll call and start discussing the activities/events ideas (there will be opportunities for all who volunteered) .

DIS members who come along, read this thread and want to participate can PM me for the sign-up form.
