New Themed Magic Bands

Yes, when the CM retrieved the package with our upgraded MBs in it there was a paper taped to the package that said a $6 package fee had been added to my folio. When I questioned this and the fact that Disney won't mail the MB to Canada, the CM got a manager and she removed the charge.
Thanks for the heads up on that. I ordered right through the website and not Shop Disney so maybe I won’t be charged but I’ll be glad to be prepared if I am!
 
Ordered ours through MDE and they were waiting at our resort when we checked in last week. I didn't notice a package fee - maybe that's specific to orders through ShopDisney.

Note that although our new bands showed up as active and linked in MDE, they did not, in fact, work for our room at the resort. We had to return to the front desk to have them properly linked so we could use them. I'd recommend checking before heading to your room. Fortunately the 'Unlock My Room' function in MDE worked and we could get into the room before going back to reception...
 
Yes, however due to how close our trip was, I was given a code to order my MB from Shop Disney. I will warn you, that if the bands are shipped to resort, there may be a "package fee" of $6 attached. I was able to get this fee waived as I am in Canada and Disney will not mail the MB to Canada so having them shipped to the resort was the only choice.

Really disappointed with Disney's rationing of the new themed magic bands through My Disney Experience. We are travelling on 14 August for a 14 days stay on-site so only have 11 days before we have to lock in our choice of band. We are 3 adults and one 5 year old who is Toy Story mad. We have been trying all afternoon today to secure the Alien magic band for the child - happy to take plain colour bands for the adults but each time the system will not complete the transaction for the child's themed band. Now the band is not showing as available through My Disney Experience where it would cost me $10 but I can still purchase it through Disney Stores for $24.95 so the issue isn't availability - from my perspective it is just more Disney greed. Come on Disney we have spent a small fortune on two rooms for 14 days, 3 adult and 1 child 6 park hopper tickets and we will be spending another large sum in meals and snacks during our stay. My issue is not with the $15 difference but I would like to know why the band is showing as being out of stock at $10 when it clearly isn't at $24.95?

The availability of the themed bands is shockingly erratic. I've seen the Haunted Mansion band appear and disappear multiple times in the same day while trying to show it to someone. Hopefully the alien band will be there in the next few days and you can lock it in, then enjoy your trip :flower1:

Alien band appeared again today but in the 2 minutes it took me to select and confirm, it was already out of stock !! Wouldnt it be a nice gesture if Disney could accommodate all guests staying on-site with their choice of band rather than leave us with this stressful experience which we have no control over. We are a family of 4 and only want one special band for the child - the rest of us are happy with a plain colour but I only have 5 days left to order the themed band so dont hold out much hope.
 
Alien band showing as available but order will not go through. Tried calling Disney Help Desk but unfortunately Help isn't something that can offer me. Advice was to choose another band.

I had that issue only in Chrome. After a few days, I switched to IE and it worked fine. It sounds like you've already tried different browsers, but have you tried IE specifically? Good luck!

I have! I am on it now and I tried Firefox. Thankfully, my trip isn't until November, so I have time...Hopefully the kinks get worked out in time for me to get the Dory my 4 year old is dying to have. Thanks for trying to help, though!

Wait - I thought I had. I just realized I'm on Microsoft Edge. Getting Explorer now, because Why not? hahaha

After several days of disappointment, I finally managed to get the much wanted Toy Story Alien band for my grandson. I couldn't understand why, if the band was out of stock, that it regularly disappeared and then appeared on the selection offered - surely if it wasn't available Disney would have removed it until more stock was available. Like most of you I kept getting the message to select another band or cannot complete order but I kept dismissing the selection, re-selecting the band and pressing complete order. After an hour of this process, it finally went through and we got an email confirmation of the purchase (feel like I've won the lottery !!). I therefore suspect that it isn't a matter of being out of stock, rather that the payment system cannot cope with the multiple applications which must be happening as soon as the bands appear for selection. I don't have any proof of this assumption but it might explain what is happening. Good luck to those of you who are still going through this painful process !!

Oh I was wondering if there was ever a Haunted Mansion band available in the premium ones! Thanks for confirming, though sounds like I keep missing it as well when looking 😉

I have the same issue no matter. I have tried using Chrome and Edge and get the same message every time.

They claim it is different stock, the ones on the MDE site are not packaged for retail sale nor kept at the some place. I ended up calling, total disaster I am not defending them, as we still cannot get bands, but just letting you know what they claim.
 
Is there anything special about these bands other than the design? Do they offer unique lights/sound effects when you use it at the gate like I've seen others do? I've never had any but the regular coloured magic band so not sure how the extra cost ones work.
