I have booked a room at Pop and at Universal Endless Summer for 1 week. Staying at Endless Summer would save me 400 dollar. I don't really need the 60 day fastpass but I am worried about getting into Star Wars land and riding the Millenium Falcon if I stay at Universal and can't use the EMH.

The EEMH are for sure a selling point for Star Wars fans. If it's just MF you're looking to ride, you could always try end of night, or else just suck it up and wait in the long line once. Yes, it will be a long wait, but it's only one ride.

Alternately, have you considered a split stay? Do one night at Pop, which would give you 2 days of EEMH, and do Universal for the rest of your trip.

Also, I'm going to assume you've factored in associated costs, but just to be sure, are you sure you've got everything included? Remember that when staying at Universal, you have to pay to park at their hotels as well as at the Disney parks. If you won't have a car, you'll pay to Uber at least twice per day (more if you want any kind of break from the park), and you'll need to get to and from MCO on your own if you fly in.

Finally, are you actually going to the Universal parks this trip? If not, you can probably find accommodation that is both cheaper and closer to Disney.

Thanks for the suggestions. We have a rental car and have an annual pass to WDW with free parking. We are also going to Universal for 2 of 3 days for Halloween Horror Nights. I am still waiting for Disney to release some room discounts but if not I'm still not sure what to do. My wife hates split stays, she would rather stay in the same room the whole trip.

Watching this thread! We aren't going until January, so with the newly released opening date of Rise of the Resistance I now need to start paying attention 😆

Well, this is unfortunate timing. First they messed with my September trip, now they open the rest of GE in time for my December trip. I just can’t win. The only good thing is that I hadn’t yet booked my January trip. I may just go to the beach instead.

Well yes. I kinda want to see if I can go there and see it in September when I am down there. So the fact that we don't know what they are going to do in WDW is putting me up in the air a bit. And we have discussed going in late January of 2020. Now that both rides will be open in December that makes me want to hit more in January.

Would you be open to a Disney Springs hotel? More affordable than Disney, even with discounts. Less convenient for Universal, but you’d have EMH for the Disney days.

We were gifted a weeks stay at OKW from my sister for Christmas, after we already had a January 2019 trip planned. So, we upgraded to an AP. Then we find out that GE opening is moved up to end of August. We tried to adjust our dates to avoid it, but couldn’t work it out.

Of course, since we have the AP, I was going to squeeze in one more trip before it expires and now will have to deal with even crazier crowds when both attractions are open. Options are to deal with it in January, or take a shorter trip before the opening of RotR. I don’t have a lot of vacation days left, and would rather not go two months after the September trip. I love Disney, but like to spread out the trips more. Not sure what to do. I highly doubt DH will be up for a November trip. But maybe September will not be as crowded now with some people pushing back their trips?

I've just started planning the park days, and it's so hard to be a non-guest - up until Nov 2nd. Everyday has Extra EMH in 3 parks. So bye bye strategies for rope drop. Luckily (?!?) I already know the parks, I will be solo (so more flexibility) and I will stay for 15 days.
I really hope people going first time and staying off-site plan well their days.

Extra Magic Hours of 6-9AM currently end on Nov 2. Do you think these hours for HS will be added back when RotR opens in December?

Yes, we thought about a Disney Springs hotel. But I looked at the prices and when you add in the resort fees they are the same price as Pop. Except for the Best Western, but they have outdated rooms and there is a lot of construction. I think Disney will release discounts soon though especially before Rise opens.

I think they're going to see if there was a real need for them for this first period and then based on demand, decide what to do

We booked about 8 months out for our trip from November 29 - December 7. Now that RotR is opening on the 5th, I’m really hoping there won’t be a huge *rise* in the crowd level that week, at least not until the 5th. We can’t practically change dates, as our airline tickets are non-refundable, as well as our tickets for NVMCP in the 3rd. Also, I wonder how this will impact the possibility (which seems slim already) if some kind of discount for that week....😕

Without details as to how they will let guests ride RotR or if Smuggler's Run gets a FP by then, it's making planning really difficult for me. I know they would never resort to a caste system in which Deluxe resorts will get reserved spots or first dibs over everyone else, but I've upgraded our stay to deluxe club level just in case. Also trying to safeguard in case only disney resort guests get access or something, as I also have our original reservations at the Swan. More info please, Disney!

I agree! More info would be lovely! Hopefully it will come in the not too distant future. We’re booked at our fav, BWI😄

Me too. I just retired from teaching, so we’d booked a first-time-ever trip during a slow (non school holiday) time...September 1st to 6th. Then Disney announced the first SWGE opening date and potentially boosted our crowd levels through the roof. We decided we’d just do everything else and skip DHS that trip. So we booked a second trip for December 12-15, to be able to see SWGE when it wasn’t the opening rush. Hah. Joke’s on me. Guess we’ll have to book a third trip for spring, maybe?

We’re staying 12/1-12/6 and I'm
also really not sure how bad this will be. 😳. I thought I’d picked a good time to go but so much for that plan

Agree with everyone above! ROTR really gave our crew a wake up call. Were were waiting another month or so to buy tickets and MVMCP tickets for our 12/1-12/7 trip. I thought I was doing good with our planning too. 😂

Me: Oh let’s go to HS that Thursday (the 5th), it will probably be one of the slower days that week!

Disney: Oh yeah? Is THAT what you think?!

But hey, we just have to embrace the craziness! And our family has never been there during a ride opening!
