Price Increase on Palo and Remy

We did the Palo brunch a few years ago. We didn't find many items that weren't available elsewhere on the ship so it seems we're pretty much paying for the adult only atmosphere and more personal service. I'm curious if the price change means they've added to the menu?

The caviar and cheese/charcuterie alone that I eat there are probable worth more than $40. I haven’t seen those offerings anywhere else on the ship.

Dinner is different from the MDR offerings. To be specific, you can't get their dessert souffle (dinner only) anywhere but Palo. The breads are different, as are the appetizers and main courses- I don't remember the details of each item offered, but I do recall from my multiple visits that they were not MDR replicates. They were also at a higher level of quality.

When I went last, I booked when the fee was still $30, and I'm undecided if I will go again with the higher price. But to me it seems that most of the food at brunch is not available elsewhere on the ship. The cheeses are outstanding and I've never seen those high quality cheeses outside of Palo. I've never seen king crab legs offered anywhere else on the ship. Although it is no longer on the menu, the grape and gorgonzola flatbread was still available and delicious. I haven't seen the chicken parmesan available elsewhere on the ship. Other favorites I haven't found elsewhere: marinated artichokes. baked yogurt, and champagne gelatin with mixed berries. I'm sure I'm missing many more things that are only available at Palo, but I've covered my favorites that would make me at least consider going again.

I don't think they have added to the menu, but I'm concerned that you felt that many items were available elsewhere. Palo brunch for me is two parts - the huge spread of things like pastries, desserts, antipasti, seafood, cheeses, charcuterie; and then the menu, of which some items are your 'typical' brunch items but then there's also a more italian lunch side.

I do remember a cheese spread but we didn't have the king crab or any crab which was a disappointment as crab is a favorite of mine. We did have the chicken parm. I'm wondering if they hadn't replenished all of the items for our seating or have changed it up since then.

This thread is from January, btw.
Good to know! I'd really like to try the dinner but wasn't sure it would be worth missing the main dining with the family. Thank you.

It is possible that their supplier was unable to get crab or there was a problem with the crab they did receive.

There is no comparison to the tenderloin served in Palo and the ones in the MDR, IMO.
Palo food is made to order and doesn't sit under a metal cover, banquet style.
Everything I have eaten there whether it has been brunch or dinner is better than the MDR.
I am not knocking the MDR's, its how they have to serve it when they have to push out so many meals as quick as possible.

Yes. They had a large spread of pastries and desserts. It seems we missed out on some of the usual items though. :( We were at a later seating so it's possible they were having an off day or didn't plan well for the amount of guests. Sounds like I should give it another try. Maybe we'll go for dinner next time.

Thank you. We'll have to try dinner at Palo next cruise!

As many crab legs I do eat at PALO brunch, it is truly worth the price for me, lol. Last time we went to PALO dinner with friends, I was disappointed. We weren’t encouraged to order as much as we wanted (as before), in fact we were questioned if we wanted that much food. This was on the Dream in May.

I was planning my excursions and dining activities for my upcoming cruise, on the Wonder in March, and was surprised to see that the cost of dining at Palo has increased by $10 pp, up to $40 pp. I last sailed in October of 2018 on the Fantasy and paid $30 pp for Palo Brunch and also $30 for the Palo dinner (IMO, both worth the $30 price). Remy was $60 for brunch now $75 pp and dinner was $95 pp up to $125 pp. Is the price for Brunch and or Dinner worth the extra money now? I would have to say for the brunch I would likely pay the $40 pp at Palo this upcoming cruise; for dinner, I don't know (I am because I am celebrating a birthday).

So what do others think; Is Palo still worth it at $40 pp when the meals in the MDR are included?
And is Remy worth $75 pp brunch and $125 pp dinner?
Remy is $125 pp now?!! That’s outrageous!

We are done with it- between the higher price point plus how many reservations they hold back so even as ‘gold’ looking at 12:01 had zero options for brunch meaning we’d have to scramble onboard for a reservation then get nursery time to pay $120+ between cost/tip/nursery isn’t worth it.

Remy is a definite no for us - not that big a fan of that menu to begin with. I'll probably reduce Palo to dinner or brunch in future trips instead of dinner and brunch. We did Palo on our last trip as part of our 25th anniversary and the bottle of Bollinger champagne is what really hurt when the check came! :-)
