Second guessing upgrading to Comfort Class on Delta

Ok, I am now second guessing my choice to upgrade to Comfort Class on Delta for a trip from Atlanta to San Diego. Right now the only advantage I see is an extra three inches of leg room, and that is an advantage for sure. The seat size is the exact same size as in the Main cabin. The priority boarding doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me, am I wrong on this? It would cost an extra $300 for me and my husband. But one thing I learned today is that you can now book one class on one leg of your trip and another class on the other leg, so that there could be a little bit of savings. The extra snacks and such would be ok for hubby, I won't be eating anything on board. So, I am really second guessing this cost.

We rarely get it but often get upgraded due to credit card status.
I get priority boarding from the credit card so that's already something we get. Seats are too similar for me to notice a difference.
But have you already booked? It's not like you can just change with Delta

Also, if its a full plane, you are guaranteed snacks and drinks - someties they can't make the full length of the plane in the set time they have, so they start up with Comfort+ aka business class and work backwards - not sure how that would effect you flying cross country, but something else ot thin kabout - they have made that announcement on every Atlanta to Orlando flight we have been on and we are ALWAYS thankful that we are in comfort plus - they always ask if we want a can or 1/2 and we always take the full can - you are'nt guaranteed 2nd run when the flight is that full!!

On our quick hop from Detroit to Grand Rapids yesterday they didn't even attempt to serve anyone past comfort plus. But yet made an announcement about how they were coming thru to pick up any service items. I was like, you didn't give us anything, and yet here you are with your hands out for cups. Struck me as funny.

We do the Comfort for our flights from LAX to MCO. It is a about a 5 hour flight. I imagine Atlanta to San Diego will be similar length. The 3 inches do make a difference to me and I am only 5'2" so pretty short. We also like to be at the front of the plane. After the long flight, I cannot wait to get off and really stretch my legs out.

The snacks and drinks are a non issue for me, as I won't be eating anything or drinking anything. Now my husband might like it, lol. Right now all I see is the three extra inches of legroom and getting off the plane earlier. Hmmmm, getting off the plane earlier sounds nice. The overhead luggage space is not that big of a deal, we won't have much at all. It is a 4.5-5 hour flight. I can get 5% off Delta gift cards at Target. Hmmm, still debating.

No, I haven't booked yet.

Well you can change with Delta without any fees at all if it involves a medical reason. I had no idea of this and with our very first trip to the Caymans this happened. Our doctor rescheduled at the last minute, his decision and let us know if we explained the situation to Delta they would not charge us a change fee. I just told them the honest situation, her doctors name and location of the practice. They took my word for it and I didn't have to provide proof. Now the new date was higher in price, which he himself covered. I imagine there are people who would take advantage of this clause, but never would I unless it was true.

Is this for sure? Last time I flew Delta was to Hawaii in 2016. At the time, we could only book Comfort+ for the whole leg. In other words, we had to have Comfort+ for Buffalo to Atlanta and Atlanta to Honolulu. We didn't have to purchase it roundtrip, but we couldn't select the long haul flight segment separately, which is the only leg we would have wanted Comfort+ for. But I'm guessing it might vary depending on the route.

In our experience, Comfort+ wasn't worth the cost to us. We were in a row of 2 so we didn't have aisle neighbors making it easy for us to get up and stretch when we wanted, making leg room less of a concern. We checked our luggage and only had a small personal size item so overhead space wasn't a concern, making the boarding order less important. Our flight included meals and drinks in all fare classes, and I know that's specific to the Honolulu flights.

People will bring items on the plane with them. Collecting that trash makes a lot of sense.

In 2017, we flew to Barcelona. We only booked C+ for the overwater legs. That was worth it I thought.

Maybe it's an optical illusion, but it appears C+ seats have more cushioning also.

What I am referring to is the ability to change it one way and then another on the way back. I am looking at non stop flights with this.

Yeah, I know we can on our flights. I can add on Comfort to just the ATL to MCO leg, or the CHA to ATL leg (which makes ZERO since being that we are only in the air 20 min, LOL)
Same with First. When you initially book you have to do all or nothing but you can add on/upgrade later and do just 1 leg.

I am in Hawaii now and flew comfort plus class from Pittsburgh to San Fran and first class from San Fran to HNL. I was impressed with comfort plus. That little bit of leg room was huge difference. I found seats very comfortable. I was so appreciative to get off the plane ASAP. I’d fly again in a minute. Couldn’t imagine a regular seat on that long of a flight. We are first class on way home as it’s 13 hour flight!!!!! But for 5 hours heck yes on comfort plus.

Heck, we flew 1st back from CA last December. I don't care what class you are on, a long flight is awful. I decided that no more straight flights for us when we fly to CA, or from ATL. I'll change somewhere else just to break up the time on the plane. Granted, can't do that to Hawaii beyond boarding in CA. LOL

We did first class from Hawaii to Pittsburgh last year and honestly I dreaded it. Not sure if it’s because I had the lie flat beds but trip was a Breeze. I have a bad back and was so worried, no problems..

Yeah, those pod seats would be the only way to go. Delta doesn't seem to keep that aircraft on the flights I book to CA. Dang it. But when we go back to Hawaii I plan to get one

I really had to shop around on the pod seats from Cali to Hawaii. Seems San Fran leg had them. Worked out since we stopped in Carmel for week before continuing to Hawaii. Seats perfect as recliner. Lax and San Jose no luck on beds .
