Ready for TS Barry in LA?

Are all the Louisiana peps ready for our first storm ☔️ of the season? For us, the track has moved it so that now it’s coming straight up where we live. The eye will either be directly over us or a bit off one way or another, hoping to get on left side, but doesn't look like it so far. But we’re not scared! I’ve got lots of snacks, water, gumbo ingredients, bread, will be filling the bathtubs up with water tonight, & of course for when the wind gets really strong, alcohol for the adults! :P

I don't live in the path, but just wanted to say stay safe and hope it doesn't mess with you.

We came home from Orange Beach yesterday instead of today. Need to do a couple of things today before it comes. We don't live in a flood zone, but at this point who really knows???

My husband just wants to mow the lawn today before it comes. LOL

I like to clean the house before a TS or hurricane comes through. In 2003, Isabel messed up my house a room and a half but the rest if the house looked good lol

I definitely need to run the vacuum and finish our laundry from our trip. My main storm prep now is downloading episodes of Downton Abbey in case the power goes out. :rotfl2:

Our house isn’t in a flood zone either, we always joked that if our house floods, the town is under water. But the winds are always an issue. For Gustav the wind whipped the rain sideways and it was coming thru the doors and windows. That was not a fun storm. Don’t want to deal with that kind of storm again.
My DH was cutting the grass late yesterday. Has to be done before all the rain, our dogs are small and don’t like the grass tickling their bottoms, 😆 . But I don’t think it’ll be bad. The media, mostly the national media likes to stir crazy pot over everything, making it seem so much worse. We’re trying to stick with our local meteorologist for information.
Y’all stay safe!

I’ve been cleaning my house this morning too. Kind have it cleaned before we lose electricity. 🤪

I washed also. During Gustav I went thru every towel & small rug in the house trying to sop up the water coming in the house during the storm. A reminder to always have washed beforehand, cause you never know what you’ll need and how long til you’ll be able to wash again. 🙂

Thanks!

Yep I had two loads of towels to wash after Gustav and no power for a week.

Everyone by us was out mowing yesterday. If you miss a week you’re screwed! Glad y’all made it home safe! We are on the road. Weather not too bad yet. They’re telling us down here to be ready for bad weather to start about 8pm. We will be in FL by then (hopefully). Almost to MS now. Stay safe! Hoping all levees past this test!

And turn your a/c down so cold you can’t stand it so it’ll stay cooler longer!

yep it's on 71 right now. I left it on 73 the entire time we were on vacation. We are on the billing plan with Entergy where you get charged the same amount every month, so it doesn't matter. :D

We did this during Irma, waiting in the freezing cold house was so miserable cuz I'm in FL and used to the heat, and because Irma moved soooo slow. And of course 70+% of our city lost power and we never actually did. SO I froze myself for no reason! haha, would do it again

Oh my Mickey! I wish old Barry would get it in gear and come on thru already! This waiting is miserable! Think I’m going to start my gumbo. We’ll have a nice yummy lunch and watch the rain & wind.

Well we loss electricity sometime around 1am. My DH was outside hooking up the generator. I tried to get him back inside. I wanted him to wait til sunlight, it wasn’t safe, but he was worried about the food in the fridge & freezer. And once he’s made up his mind that something has to be done, there’s no stopping him. The kids and I just got out of the way. Right now it’s pretty black outside though it should be mostly daylight, guess we’re about to get another band. All together, so far it really hasn’t been that bad, we’ve rode out a lot worse in the past.
On the positive, I’m so grateful it’s NOT FP booking day for us, that would’ve made it all the more stressful. We have a trip planned in September & our FP day was the 10th, so that’s all done.
Anywho, hope everyone else is safe on this Sunday.

Hope everyone fared ok during this storm. Metro NOLA was extremely fortunate, and the storm pretty much went around us.
