Lion King and Other Summer Movies

My grand kids want to see the new Lion King "live action" next week. We'll probably go but Rotten Tomatoes currently has it at a 60% approval rating. The critics are saying it lacks creativity. yawn. I'll keep my expectations low, and hope the theater has decent popcorn.

Here's hoping Lion King is better than the latest Spider Man. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for teenage angst, but I really thought it was stoopid, and they chose the wrong actress for M. J. o.k. rant over.

Suddenly Toy Story doesn't seem so bad. Except Forky was dorky.

After sitting through previews of upcoming movies, it doesn't look like the rest of the summer will have anything better.

I plan to see it, I expect it will be the same story, so I don't have amazing expectations. Hopefully I am pleasantly surprised.

I liked the new Spider-Man. I like Tom Holland over some of the previous leads. I like that they mix it up.

Who should they have chose for MJ? I liked her as MJ, it fit the feel of this part of the franchise.

The only film I’m planning to see this summer is the 50th Anniversary showing of Hello, Dolly! on 8/14.

I will catch Toy Story 4 on DVD.

I don’t watch Disney live action remakes so I’ll pass on the Lion 🦁 King 👑.

And that’s about it.

I saw Toy Story 4. I actually enjoyed it. As much as I love Marvel, the Spider-Man movies hold no interest for me. I think the next film I am seeing is either Frozen 2 or the new Star Wars.

My daughter wants to see Lion King so we'll go. I like to feed her love of Disney. I'm sure I'll love revisiting the music.

I am super excited to see the Lion King re-make, as are both my kids. In the last month, we've watched the original at least two dozen times, the second one probably 10 times, and 1 1/2 at least 15 times (we've had some long car trips). The Lion King is my favorite movie and while I wasn't sure what to think at first about it going live action, I think the trailer looked really well done. I'm usually not a fan of re-makes, primarily because of plot changes from the original, so I hope they don't change much of the dialogue, songs, and plot, as I really want to like this movie. I am thrilled that James Earl Jones was re-cast as Mufasa.

I liked Toy Story 4 and love Forky!
Like Spiderman and Zendaya as MJ

Going to see Lion KIng
Going to see Crawl
not sure what else yet

I loved Forky! My family really enjoyed Toy Story.

My almost 16 year old saw Spider-Man and liked it. She is the Marvel fan in our house though.

I'm not much into going to see Movies. But I do plan on seeing Lion King. I went to see Dumbo (fell asleep) and Aladian (which I enjoyed).

I'm excited to see the Lion King. I don't really go by reviews since I've seen some movies that are highly regarded and I've come out of the movie thinking what the heck did I just watch. I love the music including the new song Beyonce sings, I'm looking forward to seeing how the new song flows with the movie. I'm not surprised that the Lion King is very much close to the original. It's such a beloved film that I'm sure Disney wanted to avoid any outrage from changing it drastically.

There’s a bunch we want to see...
Once Upon a time in hollywod
The kitchen
Yesterday
Hobbes and Shaw
Angel has fallen
Lion king

Toy story is on the list but we want to see TS3 first.

I think the only summer movie I want to see is Toy Story 4, and in all honesty I can wait until it’s on DVD. No interest in seeing Lion King.
