ABD photos

I have to give a shout out to our Adventure Guides (Robyne and Massi) from our recent Italy trip. I was just able to spend time looking at the pictures that they took and they are great. In addition to having family photos (which we never have), one of them (I think Robyne) has a great photographer's eye. So many neat photos of all of us, our fellow travelers, the sites. What a wonderful perk!

I was looking forward to the pictures we were in but a benefit I didn't think of is that they're familiar with the sites and took pictures of parts of them that I didn't know to focus on. I agree it's a wonderful perk!

Our So California Adventure Guides (Shannon and Sammy) knew the perfect spots for group and family pictures. Their constant picture taking really freed us up to enjoy our trip. I was amazed that most of the family and group pictures were as outstanding as they were. A major perk for us!

I'd like to give a different shout out. I'm so thankful the guides started using iPhones to take our photos in Japan. I used to spend an inordinate amount of time importing ABD guide photos into my Apple Photos account, and I'd always have to adjust the time or time zone to sync them properly with the rest of my photos. Since they used iPhones in Japan, it's time stamped correctly. Such a blessing! Maybe it's just me, but I appreciate it!

That sounds like a big plus! But since I'm Android all the way, not something I specifically appreciate! :)

I'm surprised they didn't just adjust the time on their digital camera. That's what I do when I go to Europe. My digital camera has wifi built in so every night I transfer the photos to my iPhone as a backup and I definitely want the timestamps to line up with my iPhone shots.

Do guides have their own cameras and just send photos out to guests or can you give them your camera to take photos?

As I can confirm, it's an easy thing to forget to do! :teeth:

Their previous Nikons and whatever they had prior to those did not have GPS. GPS bugs me a bit, but time stamp was really frustrating. Pretty sure I've had to adjust the time on all the photos on the last 12 ABD's. And there's two cameras with different incorrect times whose photos are mixed into the same download. It was a mess. Anyway, the camera phones have fixed both time and gps thank goodness! I just hope that's an ABD-wide change.

It sounded like it was an ABD-wide change, based on what our guide said. She also really liked the change and I think that it made taking pictures a lot easier for her.

An added benefit to the guides using iPhones, is that they often offered to airdrop some photos to our phones during the trip, so I had a quite few of their photos of myself in advance of them all being posted online after the trip. This was specifically for the recent Inaugural Seine River Cruise, but I did get a couple through airdrop last year on the DCL Med embedded as well.

One thing I did miss on this last adventure was getting any photos with the ABD border. Last year those were the ones I got airdropped to me, and in the past they had been given to us as prints near the end of the trip.

I still got 3 photos with the ABD border sent to me via Send Anywhere (Android) on my Japan trip in May.

The fantastic thing about airdrop is you can do it where there is no cellular and wifi connectivity. It creates a private wifi network after the phones find each other with bluetooth and only uses the two iphones for communication.

Just like Sayhello - we got three pictures with the ABD borders from our trip last month.

Not getting those photos with the borders may have just been something that was overlooked on the Seine last month since it was the Inaugural cruise with several new guides. Glad to hear they're still being provided on other trips and that it's not something that has completely disappeared.

What was missing on my Japan ABD was the list of everyone's full name. Seeing the names helps me remember who people are, and it also helps if you know, say, half of a couple's name, but not the other half. I don't know if that was just a miss on our trip, or if it's gone, too.

Not being provided any more. We didn’t get one on current trip, and asked. They’re not giving them to guests any more. Privacy/security reasons.

Yay! We have Shannon on our upcoming BSM. Glad to hear she is a great photographer...
