Official 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend - CANCELED

I just registered for the Kessel Run Challenge, doing the virtual and the half. I was interested in getting the limited edition magic band but I didnt see it offered. From reading here it sounds like Im not the only one and I just should keep my eyes open for it. Youll have to forgive me this is my first run disney event and dont want to miss out.

Given the very low number of these available, I do not think they'll be available for long on registration day. There are only 1,000 total and the amount made available today probably sold out quickly so I believe the same thing will happen on regular registration day.

There will be plenty of other things available to celebrate your first event in case you cannot get the magic band.

Going to come over from Australia with 15yo son . Going to sign him up for 10km and i will do 21km . Will i be able to go with him to the start of 10km to make sure he is in the right area and then get transport to the finish line to see him finish or is it to slow ?
With the qualifying times for 21km will they take overseas race times . Is it just one qualified group start or do they have different start groups (sub 7min mile ,sub 8min mile groups )?

My understanding is that you can go along to the start but can't go into the corral area, which is restricted to those with bibs for that race. There should be transportation to the finish line, but I don't know any details. That said, there's a lot of people around who can help him out in case you want to sleep in for a bit.

Assuming they do corrals the way they did this year, there are 8 in total, grouped in estimated completion intervals of 15 minutes. (Which, for a 13-mile race, works out to be about 1 minute per mile difference.) You need to give a time if you're claiming an estimated completion time under 2:45 (about 12:30/mile), which gets you corral E. If you go over to the Proof of Time equivalency thread, there's some lovely tables with estimated times needed for various race lengths.

As I understand it, overseas times should be fine as long as they can get to the website with the official results.

If you're interested, the event guide from this year's SW race is still up at https://guide.rundisney.events so you can look it over. The start staging map for the 10k shows which areas you can be in as a spectator and which areas are restricted to runners.

Sorry another question . Says minimum age is 10 for 10k . Do they have to be with guardian or are the ok to run by them self. Son will be a but older at 15 so should be ok bit worried they might not let him go through to the start area by him self

Just to chime in - there is definitely transportation to the finish line from the start. I did the 10k this year and my mom came to the start line to cheer me on. After I crossed the start, she got on a bus that took her to the finish line. She said it was quite a hike from where the bus dropped people off to the actual finish line, but she was there in plenty of time to see me finish. Then again, I started in the last wave of the last corral and wasn't exactly speedy. LOL But yes, there's transportation!

He'll be fine - the age required to enter parks alone is 14, so no reason a 15yo would be looked at oddly on his own.

Might have been posted before if so my apologies, but I registered I didn't see the magic band is there a direct link to go back to the merch page? I went to it selected magic band and nothing showed up I have a feeling it's opening tomorrow if not its sold out already from pass holders?
thanks

There is no picture available yet.

In 2018, the Kessel Run sold out a few weeks after they announced the virtual component, but I do not believe it sold out for 2019.

I don't know about the Virtual Half, but the Kessel Run didn't. When I went to go pick up my Virtual medal at the Expo this year, they were selling the Kessel medal for $15 (if I remember correctly). The people in my party were going to add it on to their half registration, but the catch was you had to have registered for the Virtual Half beforehand. They were disappointed, but I was just relieved there wasn't some amazing loophole that I completely missed lol ^^'

I haven’t watched this thread too much but has anyone noticed this change?

Yes! They used to use tiered pricing back in the day before races sold out. Then they started selling out so quickly that nobody ever paid more than the cheapest price anyway, and they dropped the tiers. Apparently, race participation is dropping and people need encouragement to “get it before the price goes up” again. I wish runDisney would just make race prices affordable for people again!

Just a heads up - it's 9:45 on Tuesday (7/16) and it looks like the virtual queue is open. I had the RunDisney page open just to prepare and checked on a whim...the link had changed from "stay informed" (or whatever it was) to "register." The page keeps refreshing and not actually loading the registration yet, so I'm guessing I'm in the queue, waiting for 10:00 to hit.

Just in case anyone else is stalking - er, I mean watching - like me. :-)

Can confirm, same for me.
