So, to say I'm excited is an understatement. I can't see the Disney tickers unless I'm on my laptop (they don't show up on mobile for me) so I got a countdown app, set for 2pm on the day we arrive which is our exact arrival time.

Who?

Me, 38
Mum, 65

When?

Monday 23rd September to Wednesday 25th September

Where?

Staying in the Disneyland Hotel, travelling direct to and from Ashford on the Eurostar.

What?

I'm concentrating on rides and meeting characters, the only show I want to see is Mickey's PhilharMagic and I'm not excited by shopping so I'll just get a few small items as presents and maybe some sweets. I also want to fit in swimming in the hotel pool. We're hoping to have meals at Chez Remy, Café Agrabah, Auberge du Cendrillon, Plaza Gardens and of course Inventions in the hotel. Hopefully the travel agent will sort our reservations but if not I have a bookmark to the post where there's a link to restaurant reservations in English, next Tuesday is the earliest date that we can book.

Trip shopping update

So far I have bought; a Minnie Mouse ears headband, Minnie Mouse earrings, a Minnie Mouse necklace, a personalised autograph book and some cheap sunglasses that are red with white polka dots. The autograph book has two pages for each character and the characters are in alphabetical order, one page is for a photo and the other for the autograph.

Still on my list to buy: RFID blocking hidden neck wallet, 2 Disney lanyards (1 for me and 1 for Mum), spray on factor 50 sunblock, lip balm with sunblock, blister plasters, rain poncho, comfort gel insoles for shoes, a Sharpie pen and bookmark for my autograph book, assorted sweet and savoury snacks and a couple of Robinsons Squashed so I can have squash in my water bottle. There were supposed to be pictures with this post but I can't figure out how to attach them, everything seems greyed out on the options at the top. I'll try tonight on my laptop.

Never mind, I figured it out! There was a little blue cog and when I clicked on it the options stopped being greyed out.

There is a plan! :)

You can already make reservations for the month of September, here's the link: https://www.disboards.com/threads/online-restaurant-reservations-in-english.3745810/

And I would agree, if you want to see one show, I wouldn't do Philharmagic, but Mickey and the Magician. This will take more time, but it's as a show so much better. Philharmagic is a 15 minute 3D movie, Mickey and the Magician is a 25-30 minute broadway style show with live singers and dancers and loads of characters.

To be honest, I am not sure about your plan to also spend time in the pool. If you arrive on Monday around 2pm and you then have 2 full days, where you want to do rides, meet characters and 5 table service meals. That's ambitious already. To include swimming (opening hours are 7am to 10pm), you will have to factor in a few hours.

You say the only show you want to see is Mickey's PhilharMagic, but that's just a movie. Really consider going to Mickey and the Magician (if it's show, not sure when it stops), because it's amazing!
Also know you're right after the run weekend, so expect a lot of people to take medal pictures on Monday, if lines are long, keep them for later in your trip
Thanks for the info! We're arriving at 2pm so I think most people doing the run weekend will have left by then.

I figure that one evening we'll watch the fireworks and one evening we'll have an after dinner swim. Also, if I'm understanding correctly Agrabah and Inventions are buffet restaurants so you don't have to wait for food to be brought out to you? I'll definitely look into Mickey and the Magician now I've had 2 recommendations!

I haven't been to Inventions, but for Agrabah Cafe, only drinks will be brought to you. You order 1 drink when you check in at the register (the one inside), and if you want more, you can just flag down a waiter.

I would definitely recommend to make your table service reservations now, or have your TA do it.

I sent my Mum a WhatsApp message today and it turns out that the TA has already sorted it! Turns out that Chez Remy is closed for dinner on the Monday but we've got all the other reservations we wanted.

Also I found the cute red corset shaped backpack that I want to take stuff in, so that's good.

Sounds like a lovely trip you've got planned. We stayed at the DLH in February and it was beautiful. I have the same apron you have on in your avatar :) Oh and for blister plasters, I've definitely recommend Compeed which are amazing....I don't know why I didn't know about these already. I had one on for days on our recent holiday, swimming in sea etc and it never moved :thumbsup2

Mine's actually a halterneck dress, it's one of the 3 dresses I'm planning to wear there, along with yellow canvas trainers, Minnie Mouse headband, earrings and necklace and the red and white polka dot sunglasses pictured above. Thanks for the blister plaster advice, I'm going to get them from Sainsburys in the online shopping before I go. I've checked and they do sell Compeed.

The lanyards have arrived! Colourful squares for me, keep calm and go to Disney for Mum.

9 days to go! A week tomorrow I'll be travelling down to Kent to stay with Mum and Dad ready for getting the Eurostar on the Monday. I've bought everything on my list above, here's pictures of some of it (blister plasters and insect repellent don't make for very exciting pictures:rotfl2:)
