I finally found my people!! I've been going through this alone my friends. Didn't know about DIS, just joined. So glad to finally find a thread on this. Clarifying question: I have an activated AP but just purchased my partner's AP today so it shows in his MDE app but not as 'activated'. We are in Texas so I can't activate it in person until our next trip. Do y'all think I'll be able to register him for the SWGE preview also??
:welcome:
Short answer: no one knows and we won't know until the sign ups start

I have been able to register my other family members for past events who have had passes that were not yet activated so my best guess would be that you will be able to.

Disney clearly said an activated pass is required. Many posters don't think Disney will be enforcing the requirement
YMMV

this wait is getting frustrating they didnt need to tease this as long ago as they did if they were going to sit on the dates for so long
Ya . not sure the point of the early announcement. It is not like the new land really needs the PR or draw people to it.

Instead by announcing something but with no details. you just frustrate the people that may be interested.

They may as well announce now that there will be annual passholder previews of TRON... sometime before it opens :)

And more details will be released later this summer

I agree that the delay is probably related to the hand-off from Imagineering to Operations.

Any rumors regarding a preview for RotR?

My guess is no preview for RotR. Simply because the land is open. They could do something easily if they want to. I just don't think they will

All right, let’s get back on topic please - the topic of watching and waiting for AP previews to be announced.

As a reminder, moderators may remove posts or conversations that stray too far off topic, are argumentative (which is against DISBoards guidelines by the way), or are generally unhelpful as it relates to the primary point of this thread. That doesn’t mean we can’t chit/chat, it just means we may occasionally step in to move the conversation along and keep the information flow efficient for all.

Thank you.

Checking in. I see the paint is still drying for the past few weeks. Nothing like cutting it close.
I remember a couple of weeks back when some of us ( including me) were scoffing at the idea that it could be the 20th or later..... o_O At this point, I'm just watching for my daughter as no doubt dates will be much too late for me. I'm also really curious about the voucher vs activated issue.

Well it appears those who guessed that they wouldn't start reservations for the AP previews until after the CMs can sign up look to be right. (which makes sense)

So we could be looking at the 23rd .. maybe even as late as the 29th before we can sign up or even know the dates/time slots. 3 1/2 weeks before the suspected first preview date. They sure ARE cutting it close. Which means they are pretty much announcing what the dates of the the AP previews will be only a month before the actual grand opening. I knew this would be last minute, but whew.

Someone remind me when you need to cancel a room-only reservation? I hope it doesn't get THAT close, but I don't want to have a reservation for a room I don't want to use.

I guess the main issue isn't the fact that it is so close to the opening, it is the fact they announced this as a possibility TWO MONTHS ago without any information and we've been anxiously waiting since. :)

30 days for full refund, 2-29 days for $200 fee, 1 day for no refund ---- Sorry, had package in my head, this is for package, 5 days for room only.

Dear Diary,

It has been 32 days since the news broke about the AP preview to SWGE. 32 days of excruciating and constant refreshing of my inbox, trolling of websites, DIS board posts, and monitoring flight prices . I want to be mad at you Disney for making me wait, but it just isn't possible...I love you too much! But this wait has truly been unbearable. Will I see Galaxy's Edge before the masses, or will I be rubbing elbows alongside the other SW faithfuls on the 29th of August, waking at 3am for the hope of laying my eyes on the Millennium Falcon? What is my destiny? In my nightmares, I see the Mickey filled event page apologizing that the "Event is Full". My only saving grace during this tumultuous time is that there are 179 pages on the DIS board proving that I am not the only dedicated person fighting this good fight....I am among my people!

Yours truly,
DisneyforLife

At the risk of posting the obvious. PP already mentioned 5 day cancellation deadline for room only.
Southwest let's you cancel a reservation minutes before departure, I think 10 minutes. Passengers who book using points get their points returned in full. Passengers who booked with a credit card can use the funds for a future fligh. Must be for the same passenger and must fly within a year of the date of you made your reservation.

Weeks ago a poster "speculated" CM, AP and media preview dates. I booked room only a CBR and Southwest with points.

I did the same thing. I booked AoA little mermaid room for 8-19 to 8-21. I want to go to the Halloween party on 8-20 but waiting on this first. I booked SW as well since the prices go up about 3 weeks out and we wanted specific flights. Hoping details come out today and registration 7-29 is my guess. It would be a great birthday present to get details today...
