Favorite ABD trip

We've traveled to about 55 different countries, non-ABD, and have many favorite trips. We will be taking our very first ABD next year, the Adults Only Italy & Switzerland. Although we've been to Italy & Switzerland before, this seemed like a fun way to go back. Glad to hear that this ABD was a favorite of some of you.

No matter how you go, Keep Traveling!

we will be on Sept 4-11 trip. Hope to see you then.

We're also booked on the 9/4/2020 Adult Italy & Switzerland. Nice to meet you--we're Andrea & Greg from Northern Virginia. Looking forward to this trip even though it's still 15 months away--lots of traveling between now and then.

AS a followup to my last posting here:

Last week we watched on PBS actress Julie Waters (perhaps best known as Molly Weasley in Harry Potter) hosting a show "Coastal Railways" and she was in Scotland. Part of the episode had her traveling to Isle of Sky (no trains there) just because....and when we saw it we fully understand now why everyone says that was one of the highlights. After watching the episode - all in Scotland - not going anywhere ABD goes - I really think ABD needs to revisit that trip! We would certainly go on the original plan.

I'm going to need to check out that show! And I'm glad you understand now!! 💓 💓 💓

Just thought I would resurrect this thread since we are all at home and some of you ABD superstars can share any updates to your fav trip, since this thread is about a year old.

A lot of people on other trips have told me their favorite was South Africa. Not sure if you guys agree. Also I haven’t seen any reports for the Amazon river one… That looks really interesting. Has anyone done the South America trips?

Well, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I had hopes that Japan would jump to #1 on my list, and it totally has! The Japan ABD is a *fabulous* itinerary, and goes places and does things I would never have otherwise known about (like Shirakawa-go and the Hakone open-air museum) plus amazing trips to iconic places like Hiroshima and Miyajima island. And the food on this trip is for the most part excellent. The very first activity, the bamboo forest in Kyoto, was totally AMAZING, and a spectacular start to a spectacular trip.

I am SO glad I took this trip, and so grateful I have those memories of amazing travel to keep me going during this crazy time of no travel.

Just an idea for a trip in the USA....in Maui Hawaii, there is the Pīpīwai Trail that goes through a Bamboo Forest and leads to Waimoku Falls. It's a spectacular 4 mile hike.

We've done 8 ABD's but 5 of them were repeats. Number 9 is coming up in October. I'd rate the Alpine Magic trip as number one, with China (the special DIS customized version) a close second. I just really enjoyed the scenery of the Alpine Magic trip. The Matterhorn is really spectacular. Oddly enough the China trip slips to second simply because it was so "foreign". Everything there was so different and when you add to it the long flights it slips back a few notches. Yes though, China is a very interesting and scenic place.
Responding to my original message because sine then I've done the London/Paris ABD. This was a special DIS exclusive trip that included an add-on at DLP. Very much enjoyed the trip, but it still doesn't displace the Alpine Magic trip.

Thanks! I adore Maui and will definitely return there soon, so I will look into this hike! Thanks!

I've done 6 ABD (Peru, Equador/Galapados, China, SE Asia, South Africa, and California/Disneyland) and I loved them all but I loved Peru most. Machu Picchu was beautiful and breathtaking and the major highlight but the whole trip was fun and well planned every single day. The places we stayed were very nice and the food was very good.

I agree! For the price of this trip compared to the other ABD trips, it’s an incredible value. We loved all of it, esp the people. I do want to say that the new trip is one day short and does not return you to Lima.

Oh no! They don't have lunch and entertainment at the mansion in Lima anymore?

We did the old itinerary and I agree that we enjoyed the lunch at Casa Aliaga in Lima on Day 8, and depart at Day 9.

This year for 2020 it's new and ends in Cusco and departs on Day 8, with the new dinner on Day 7:
Dinner at La Casona de San Jeronimo
Complete your Adventure with a visit to La Casona de San Jeronimo in Cusco. Explore the hotel’s colonial architecture while you enjoy a Peruvian feast and an Andean parade.

Peru still holds the #1 spot on my list. I agree in that we loved Casa Aliaga! Loved the tour, the dancers, and the food! This truly is a magical trip. I hope to return someday!
