APs and Resort guests can now upgrade their magicband

So I can see that everybody is having issues with ordering/customizing Magic Bands, but it looks as if y'all can at least see the page to start the customization process. I can't even get that far -- every time I click on the "customize your magic bands" link on MDE, it redirects to a photo of Donald and the message that I don't have permission to view the page. Has that happened to anyone else? How did you fix it? I have a few months, but wanted to stay on top of the issue.
Open an incognito window in Chrome. Delete your browsing history. Clear your cookies.
 
After trying a million times since the rollout, I was finally able to get to the payment screen and complete an order. Granted my wife and I had to make 3rd/4th choices on our bands, at least my daughter got the snacks one that she wanted. Hoping they all show up correctly whenever they're shipped.

It was a frustrating process, to say the least, but stick with it. Eventually it worked out, just shouldn't have taken so much time and effort.

Unfortunately getting to the payment screen is not indicative of success either. I have on numerous occasions gotten to the payment screen, filled in all the details and still got the very generic error with the dismiss and try again buttons.
 


Question... I don’t know that I have seen any mention of this. I have a split stay booked. 1 day at Pop and then 6 days also at Pop. Will I be able to have 2 sets of bands? It is not giving me the option to customize any bands paid or not. MDE on computer says to customize by Sep 19 but then won’t let me do anything. Is this just an MDE glitch? I tried different browsers and the app.

Yes...you should be able to make 2 sets if you have separate reservations. We did this summer with our split stay. But MDE has been very glitchy. We have multiple reservations coming up, but they rarely ALL come up on the MB page for me. I have to constantly refresh. I haven't called IT this round, but I did earlier this year. And the CM had to go into my account and fix it.

Once I saw they were available I selected bands for all 4 of us, and then checked out as quickly as possible. Got through the payment quickly, and got a confirmation shortly after.

It's not easy stalking the site to get the ones I wanted, but it is possible. Good luck everyone!

I have been stalking multiple times daily since they were first released, and just this morning finally got the last band for our family of five. We had to split across two orders (we have two separate reservations-one pre-cruise and one post-cruise), since we could never find all 5 at once. All of us had at least 3 options that we were willing to get so we were very flexible. This whole thing has left a very sour taste in my mouth.

Congrats. I've been trying to get the Belle band for weeks, and finally got the order to go through last night. I did the same thing, checked out as quickly as possible, got the confirmation email. Whew, right?
 
Once you pick your themed band, can you change it after you pay the $10 fee? I have been waiting for the Castle band to come back but it hasn't and I don't want to miss out on the other ones in case they go away while waiting on the castle one.

No. Once you successfully pay no one in your group can change their order. This also means that you can't buy one upgraded band and then later choose upgraded bands for others in your group, you all have to commit at one time. This is often the difficult part, because you can't find everyone's choices available at the same time.

I had the same issue but have a split stay, so the first stay I choose the castle band & Vader for DS & I and DD had plain. In the second stay DD got treats & DS and I had plain. At no time could I check out with the castle, Vader and treats in one go.

Both stays are at AKL and delivered to the hotel so I’m hoping if I ask nicely and explain they will give me DDs band at check in for the first one.
 
I gave up on this about a month ago. Bought a couple of bands full price, reusing one old band, etc. But every now and then I would just look to see how the system was working. The first week of July I logged in, and the system wasn't giving me the option to order or personalize. It showed regular bands selected for everyone in my family but no option to even change the regular colors that were assigned, much less the upgrades. At this point we were a good 5 weeks away from our trips so I figured it was a glitch, but I went back to check every 2-3 days and it never changed (tried incognito too). To be clear, I never successfully completed any order at all. Not even one that seemed to complete but then crashed. I never got that far.

Yesterday I got an email telling me our bands shipped. We are still more than 3 weeks out from our trip. I don't know what happened to 11 days but here we are. Since we're all sorted for our bands I'm not going to investigate or complain but I wanted to share this in case anyone is thinking of cutting it close.
Actually this isn't really close. They locked me out a good 3 weeks before the supposed 11 day deadline.
I'm pretty sure the 11 days only comes into play if you haven't chosen anything for your bands (meaning no bands are showing chosen). If you select solid colors, they ship at the normal time. But that's just my guess on it.
 
Im.guilty too. Why am I trying so hard to spend money on something I don't need?
Has anybody been able to buy the Stitch band? Its there often, I just can't buy it!
I did back at the beginning of July. However, it was weird because I had chosen it in June and just left it there and never ordered. So I was looking around and saw it was there and tried to order and it went through. It was also weird because it was a single order just for me for my annual pass choice. But I had another option to order a whole set of AP bands for myself and my family. So basically I got two choices for my AP band.
 
So I am trying to pick our bands using the new themes but every time I pick one and try and check out I get "We are unable to complete your request". I tried calling but you have to do this through the web page. Frustrating!

Welcome to days and weeks of frustration. Unfortunately, this is the way it is. Everyone that has a resort reservation is competing for the same handful of bands they choose to add to the mix at various times of day. Many of us have been trying for months now. There is no answer except to say have several different options for every member of your party and try it throughout the day. Other than that, it’s pure luck. Good luck!
 
Another part of this mess is that if they have a MB that daughter wants, but not a MB I want (at the same given time), one of us is stuck with a band we really didn't want but got for the sake of the other person that wanted theirs.
 
If you pick a themed band for one member of your party and confirm it (purchase it) but leave the other bands just a color. Can you go back and set the other bands from a color to a theme when the them you want opens up? Or once you purchase you are stuck with the bands you picked?

I have been trying for weeks and months now, this was the first time I had 2 themes that I wanted come up. Just know when you see them available they may not really be available.
