Am I the only one that is unimpressed with SWGE - where is the juice?

Hogsmeade in the Wizarding world has put millions of people in the story. The rides and events in there are not on a specific timeline. Forbidden Journey is a “best of” potter and it is still regarded as a top ride in a top themed land.

There is a timeline for Wizarding World. Forbidden Journey takes place during year 5-6, I believe, judging by the ages of the characters in the videos. Same with Gringotts - Voldemort and Bellatrix are still alive, after all.

Galaxy's Edge - I was there yesterday. What a wasted opportunity. The only star wars in there is the falcon and that's the most popular thing and area. Imagine if everything was from star wars. I bet the imagineers were frustrated with the restrictions they had set on them by upper management. I kept thinking "imagine if they put this work into making the forest of endoor, Tatooine w/ lukes/lars house, naboo palace/lake, mustafar with Darth vadar, jabas palace, dagobah (yodas house), snowy hoth, the death star, the emporers lair. If you could visit these places and eat there or shop there or meet all the characters there (how about a show with darth maul and vader fighting luke and obiwan) , with music playing, special star wars fireworks. R2D2 and C3po walking around. I mean comeone! There is no way people believe it'll be this slow and not absolutely jam packed had they done any of that. I rode star tours yesterday and then went to smugglers run and I wish they had those locations from star tours in smugglers run I could fly and fight in. Instead of chasing a dumb train to extract electricity. think about how stupid that sounds. There is no way imagineers sat there and when asked "where do we go and what do we do flying the falcon?" "How about we chase a train to extract electricity?". lmao are you kidding?! The response was more likely "OK lets go to the death star to rescue leia and fight vadar on the way (with han solo and chewie assisting you maybe with a animatronic in the cockpit with you) and then another scenario where as bounty hunters we deliver jabbas shipment to hoth where luke is instead of delivering to darth maul on mustafar and drop off droids that spy on mustafar instead dressed to look as the items they were expecting". Im just throwing out random ideas. Timeline doesn't matter, this land should have been a huge celebration of starwars from every era for all whether they grew up with it or just got into it. People should be losing their minds when visiting what should have been "The Galaxy" instead of what is, "Galaxy's Edge"
I'm going to try and hit on all the points you posted above. Keep in mind I am not trying to convince you to love SWGE just as you are not trying to convince anyone to hate it or dislike it.
First it's Darth Vader (sorry I'm that type of SW nerd that likes things spelled right)
The SW Galaxy you want could've never fit inside the land perimeters, giving people experiences in different planets means having a lot more land, some people have argued that they needed a SW park and not just a land, that's discussion for another thread but a valid point
I see the comparisons with HP and I understand them. HP gives us 3 prominent locations, Hogsmead, Diagon Alley and London. SW has given us and continues to add hundreds of planets and locations. You will not please everyone (I have no desire to visit Dagobah or Tattooine but would love to visit Corellia and Lothal and Kamino and...)
Disney from the get go has told us they want to give us our own SW adventure, meaning putting us in a well known planet or location will limit our experience. Instead they went with an unknown (to us off worlders) location where we can make our own adventure. We can talk to the citizens of Batuu and learn their stories and create our own by exploring, eating and going on the attractions
MFSR yes it's a simulator and yes I agree it would be cool to have different stories while we smuggle for Hondo but again they can't give us Vader with Luke and Maul and Ventress...we are following a story.
SWGE has many details from all movies and animated series and books. Again there for the exploring not smack in your face like the Falcon. You can find lightsabers, blue and green milk, podracer vehicles, droids, various ships from different timelines, creatures(dianoga, sarlacc, etc) , Chewbacca, Rey, Kylo...and again all the crates that you can look inside have different items from all across the SW universe.
I think the issue with most people complaining about SWGE is that they are used to the Disney Park experience, based almost entirely on attractions and the environment playing second fiddle. With SWGE you are inside a SW story that you create. Lucas had a huge part in this and they want to create a land where SW fans feel familiarity but at the same time feel like it needs exploring and living in it.

I get that a lot of people would have liked original trilogy locations in this area but as far as this goes I can't think of anything more restrictive from a creative standpoint than "just recreate these existing places from the original trilogy".

Christmas in Pandora is not out of place as the people from Earth have set a permanent settlement there and they could celebrate Christmas and any other holidays
But it will be thematically appropriate. Vader walking around is not.
As Luke says in the episode nine trailer , “no ones ever really gone” ;)

Here is the thing. Had they hit it out of the park, My reaction would not have been “what could have been”. My reaction would have been wow this is amazing. Like pandora. I was amazed. I wasnt like “i wish they wouldve made the tree with the white thingies floating around or the lit pond from the movie instead of this place”. Galaxys edge is half shrubbery and almost empty, half detailed buildings, but nothing except the falcon pulls me back. 2 of the experiences are one and dones so you wont keep going back there (build a $200 lightsaber and $100 droid)In that sense, to me, it is not a success. Now to each his own because others may be the opposite. Im interested to see the reaction down the line and when orlandos version opens. If it doesnt pull people time and again the way disney was expecting it to, we will see that.

This land is set after 8 and before 9. So sorry but it ain’t happening.

Rise of the Resistance will be the draw once it’s open. That will pull people in.

Star Wars locations are not known for their "charm." It's a run down corner of space inhabited by space pirates and travelers.

Personally, I have waited almost my entire life to visit a mockup of the Mos Eisley Cantina.

I find the roleplaying intentions of the land both intimidating and exciting. I ask myself "who would I be?" or "what am I trying to accomplish?" trying to come up with little skits I could play out in there. Sadly my makeup is not that imaginative, but I appreciate the challenge.

Luke said no one is EVER really gone. Which means it doesn't matter what era episode the land is set in, anyone can be there from the past.
Rise of the resistance will definitely be a huge draw. But will the other parts of the land? because it should have been a draw already.
I think I figured it out. Luke didn't die. He transported himself to Batuu in episode 8

I am sorry you didn't approve of the land. Many other seem to and I think things will be just fine.

But it’s a valid opinion nonetheless. Time will tell...
always good to hear from people with different opinions, at Disney you will always find people that dislike something and that's the beauty of the parks, they have something for everybody to pick and choose. What's not acceptable is trying to convince someone else that they're opinion is not valid or it's wrong just because you think so.

Absolutely. There are definitely a lot of people that have found GE a vibrant, authentic Star Wars experience. They can’t all be wrong. Unfortunately it’s indicative of the world today that we have a line drawn right down the middle of society on so many issues...

Its a great thing to have varying opinions because it results in a variety of offerings bieng presented in everything in life be it food, vacations, rides, themeparks, movies , clothes, you name it.
I will say that i am very excited to experience rise of the resistance and am very lucky to live 30 minutes away (from disneyland)

I have not been there yet but. I wish they had not built twin lands. I know building Four different attractions would have been difficult also. I think a resistance base on one coast and an empire or First order out post on the other would have been better. That being said I still am excited to go to SWGE.
I know it would have cost more but I think the investment would have been worth it. Then fans would have to visit both parks to get the full story. As it is why bother visiting swge Florida if you have already visited swge California? Opportunities lost...

I appreciate reading everyone's experiences and views for those who have gone. I am hoping to see it for myself next year so am trying to reserve complete judgment but I have to say - from seeing the pictures and from what I have read my excitement has been muted.

Before I went to Universal's Harry Potter World I was SOOOOOO crazy excited and when I went it exceeded all expectations and blew me away. It brought the story to life and we (my friends and family) have spent hours over many days in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade with so much to do and see. Not to mention the incredible rides that are there. I think the success of that land is the fact that they "recreated the existing places". That's what people want to see. I don't want imagineers to be "creative" and build another wizarding school that is not actually Hogwarts but Hogwarts "like". Or a wizarding world that could have existed during Harry Potter's time. I think the success of it is that it is built in the familiarity and people recognize it and love it. The beauty in it is that it is not obscure.

And so far, SWGE seems obscure.

I see the comparisons with HP and I understand them. HP gives us 3 prominent locations, Hogsmead, Diagon Alley and London. SW has given us and continues to add hundreds of planets and locations. Instead they went with an unknown (to us off worlders) location where we can make our own adventure. We can talk to the citizens of Batuu and learn their stories and create our own by exploring, eating and going on the attractions

HP at universal did focus on 3 main locations but there are so many more they could have included: the Ministry of Magic office, Malfoy Mansion, Weasley's house, Hagrid's Hut, Privet Drive. So while not in the hundreds of locations like SW has I am sure if they put their mind to it Disney could have narrowed it down and picked a few memorable ones. (Tattooine and Dagobah would have been great starts!!)

It's too bad they did not put us in our own SW adventure within lands we would recognize. I think the timeline and location restrictions are silly and arbitrary really. It's Disneyworld for goodness sake - everything is fantasy and make believe. They could have made it anything they want.

Anyhow, my two cents, pre-trip mind you! Maybe I will be blown away when I go next year and have to come back and update my thoughts!
