2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: August 29-November 23, 2019

45 min seems kinda short, but I don't really know what to expect from this.

I just hope for your sake that you get the full 45 minutes. Last year, the one I went to was only about 30-35 minutes long. And since I can remember wine, 45 minutes, and even FREE culinary demonstrations (for anyone who went in 2008 or before), that was my last demo.

I agree! My family and I were just discussing this because there are a few threads on here with people being warned to stay away from F&W on weekends because there are roving bands of drunks vomiting all over! A slight exaggeration, but the point is made. LOL! If people are looking for offensive drunks, they will find them. Whether they're actually drunk or not.

I saw that thread. My friends are visiting me first weekend in Nov, and we're gonna check out F&W (I've never been), I got very nervous going on a Saturday when I was reading that thread

There are always these types of threads started this time of year! Is F&W crowded? Yes. Will there be people drinking? Yes. But you have to adjust your expectations if you are attending on a weekend.
We like to hit F&W and F&G right at 11 when it opens and do all of our "must trys". Then we leave for the mid afternoon and return later around 5-6 pm. The point is we get our "must trys" out of the way while its not as crowded and we don't get frustrated by the large crowds in the evening. If we do F&W on a weekend (last year we had to do a Saturday), then we will also schedule another day during the week away from the weekend crowds. But we like to go as many times as we can!

Some people have mentioned a Food & Wine app.
Is it located in MDE or is it a separate app?
It's on the Apple store. It has nothing to do with MDE. I LOVE the app and have used it for several F&G and F&W now! Cast members that have seen it also like it a lot and I shared it with many festival attendees. I still get a booklet because I like them, but for tracking what we want to try or what we do try, I use the app. It even has a map and other filters, like gluten free or kid friendly so you can easily locate what you're looking for.

Also adding.... the "worst drunk" I've ever seen in Epcot had nothing to do with a festival. It was a woman in the bathroom in Rose and Crown pub who tried to give me unsolicited relationship advice, LOL! Mind you.... I'm married 30 years! She wasn't aggressive or rude, just sharing her woes on her relationship and warning me to watch men! :rotfl2:
R&C pub can get very crowded and loud in the evenings on a weekend and you have to go through the pub to the bathroom if you are eating at R&C dining room. It was more funny than annoying. But I've never seen rowdy, belligerent, vomiting-in-the-bushes people at the festivals. I'm sure it can and does happen....just like the guy who got drunk and stole a golf cart at FWL! (I think it was that resort)

Last year a young woman stumbled into my son, who then spilled his beer on me. She was definitely drunk, but I was more upset that the beer spilled onto my brand new Disney Dooney bag!

I've gone to many beer festivals (where you pay like $35 or whatever the cost of a ticket is, and just drink yourself silly for 4 hours), so I've seen some drunks, doesn't bother me unless they try to randomly fight me or something.

I've never seen roving bands of vomiting drunks, even on weekends. I have seen groups of adults enjoying themselves and being slightly loud (they're outdoors so if that's going to upset people then no one can help them). I often wonder if people see "group of adults in matching t-shirts" and say "roving band of drunks". You should be much more concerned about the heat if you go midday on the weekend, because those lines can get to be 20 minutes long. The best strategy for that is to be prepared for heat & split up your party. Don't everyone wait at one booth, split up into smaller parties and meet back up. My husband and I do this and it works great! I go get one food & drink and so does he. Whoever gets theirs first rejoins the other person in line. You share the items and that way you get to try a lot more things and waiting in line goes by faster. The Disney drinks aren't that strong (usually, the margaritas in the Mexico pavilion really pack a punch) but I think the reason some people overdo it is they're not drinking enough water in combination with the sun & heat. If you're going on a Saturday, get there early! The Festival officially starts at 11 but I've seen booths open as early as 10:30 between the front of the park & France (basically as far as they'll let you go). Go to France, grab some breakfast between 9 & 11, and wait for booths to start opening. IMO the biggest mistake people make at Disney in general is thinking "Oh the Festival/park/whatever opens at 11, so we can get there around 11". If you do that you'll be less happy than if you arrive quite early. Get in, have a bit of a strategy (what you want to try the most, divide & conquer), and then go ride some rides or watch shows when it starts to get really busy & hot. Don't be nervous, it's going to be super fun!

Side note, I did NOT notice that the tequila lunch is $85pp. Ugh. I was still debating on doing that and I still haven't made up my mind.

Is $85 good or bad for you?
It's not fantastic, for lunch. I don't normally do sit-down lunches so the thought of spending $170 on lunch for us hurts my heart a little, haha. We're already doing the Parisian Breakfast which I love. I haven't done this one before so I think that's holding me back a little. Plus, since DH is coming with me I think we'll be doing a lot of time at F&W (5 days) and I'm wondering if it'll be worth it since we have so many days to try things at the festival. I'm a passholder so normally I do just a weekend but this year we're doing a decent trip.

We're brand new PHers so I'm excited to get our first set of "special" magnets lol. I think the coasters look pretty cool, too!

The sides of my fridge are nearly full of AP magnets and our vehicles both sport one--have even shared a few with our daughter. My husband keeps losing his in the car wash so we keep taking them, but it would be nice to have something different at each festival. I agree, the coasters are nice!

Confession... I am a F&W virgin at age 49. I have a 6 night split planned at BC/YC in early October for my 50th birthday. I have the DDP for first 4 night, so 32 snack credits. We are AP so plan on hitting Epcot sometime every day. Any hidden gems, advice, secrets, or any down right DONT DO THIS!... info that I would need to know :worship: . I will be forever grateful.
