Kevin's take on Galaxy's Edge

I did have a problem with it. I thought it was annoying.

I dont imagine it will last long

I was just there on Tuesday and when I was getting my Ronto Wrap, the dialog with the cast member at the register was so odd it took me 30 seconds or so to register that she was asking whether I had an AP or DVC for any discounts. It was totally obnoxious.

And what about non-native English speakers? We get a lot of tourists from Asia in California. They may know enough English to get around but not enough to get the difference between a restroom and waste disposal facility.

I agree that this language issue will die a quick death.

This is terrifying to me. I know how uber-fans can be, so now they pressure is on me to make sure we do well as a team? What if we don't? Am I going to end up being yelled at by some random guy? It's why I have no desire to ride any time soon.

They have designed it so that no matter how "good" you are you can only do so good and you can only do so bad so yeah, there could be an excentric guy (or gal) that goes overboard but it also separates the players performance so should minimize that

LOL. Did the CM ask if you had any credit reduction credentials? I was asked some version of that too. I was like, "any WHAT?"

Yeah, that nonsense needs to stop. Calling non-magical people muggles is one thing. That's a term used repeatedly in the books and movies. I haven't seen all the Star Wars films but I doubt they had any type of discount card comparable to an AP that they called a credit reduction credential.

I will definitely visit Star Wars at some point but I'm not chomping at the bit. I'm familiar with it and think it's fine but not a huge fan. My main reason for not being in a hurry to visit - the crowds. And not interested in a $40 drink. I'll be hanging back and watching for awhile.

We're pretty much the same. We will visit next time we're here but probably won't even get to the cantina if any sort of reservation is required. I've got no issue with a $40 drink if the souvenir glass is something I want. We have a complete collection of Trader Sam's glasses including the $50 Nautilus but I'm not interested in owning any Star Wars souvenirs. Still, I'd like to see the cantina when we can.

This is why people will continue to wait a bit to go. Give the good people of Batuu enough time to learn some of our common phrases such as 'bathroom' before going. I am sure all the interactions from off planet guests will have that effect over time.

LOL.

The weird part is, there are signs outside the restrooms that SAY "Restrooms." Why can't the citizens of Batuu just call them RESTROOMS?

I overheard a CM asking another guest yesterday, "Have you enjoyed your time on the planet so far?" And the guy looked kind of bewildered and then said "Yeah, it's been a pretty enjoyable 47 years so far." I literally laughed out loud and said "nice."

As someone who will be celebrating their 47th spin around our sun during our upcoming journey, I am soooooo stealing that line!

I chuckle every time I think about it. It was just so great, and the poor guy probably didn't even understand why it was so funny.

Why do we call them restrooms? Do we go there to rest?

I don't disagree. I'm really curious to see how it plays out. I'm actually intrigued that they've designed a ride on this scale that is so customizable, but I can also see how it could turn out to be frustrating. Especially if you managed to snag a FP 60 days out or stood in line for a couple of hours just to finally get your chance to ride and have the ship crash because the other folks riding with you didn't get involved in the experience.

Yes I can see what you are saying about ruining the experience for others. BUT, Disney knew this and designed it that way anyway, despite knowing someone waited for months for their fp's and stood in line a long time. THEY are the ones to get mad at and you should let them know about it. I don't think we should be mad at other people, who paid as much, had fp's, etc but could care less about a make believe part in the ride. Some people would rather watch with minimal participation, and others want to be the pilots. It shouldn't be one or the other.
I don't know what the answer is for this. I can see how frustrating it can be for some, but not all of us want to be so immersive. We just want to experience the ride. As was noted by another poster, maybe they are foreign, maybe they have a problem that prevents them from be interactive, but they just want to enjoy it.
It has been presented as a ride.
I can see both sides, and maybe it's something Disney needs to address. Don't blame all the other people who don't get it or want to get it (not YOU, but all the others I have seen on these threads), but blame Disney for setting it up that way. IMO. When I get on it, if I ever do, I will probably be the one everyone gets mad at because I don't care if I do something "wrong". It's a ride for all to enjoy. I probably don't even know what is wrong or right to do anyway. Peace!
