OMG! Got a maintenance request that the tenant put a foot through the floor and it's weak. The house is almost 100 years old but I can't imagine, unless there's termites, what could cause it. Nevermind the cost to fix it with money I don't have. That CIP 0% is looking super helpful at the moment.

Happy last day of vacation.

You mean the CIC or CIU for 12-months 0% APR.

So sorry...

Congrats! I highly doubt they are sold out. Did you try checking the hotel's direct website to compare?

I would not say they have a website, per se 😬 . I mean, technically there is one... but they only make reservations available through booking dot com and the like. I could email them if I had to but I'd rather not- I had emailed them before our last trip and communication was difficult to say the least. They're very small and not really a touristy spot, so English was a challenge for all of us.

I've definitely run into that before, where they show as sold out when looking really far out.

I'm really hoping that is all it is! I just can't believe this little hotel, off the beaten track, is in such high demand for all of fall 2020...

I know we have a lot of SW fans and most of us use points for our flights but...my friend had to cancel a flight last Aug so she had the SW credit ($200) for the flight. She then booked a flight in March that she applied that credit ($200) to plus an extra $150. The relative that she was going to visit passed away before her March flight so she canceled that ticket and got the credit but rather than having a credit for $200 that expired in 8/19 and a $150 that expired in 3/20, SW reverted all of the funds ($350) to 8/19. Is that not crazy? I would have fully expected a split of the funds.

Gotcha. I thought it was a chain like Marriott, Wyndham, etc. So do they have availability of booking.com? It might just be too soon for a small location to release their rooms in advance through the booking portals.

Does anyone else have as many problems with their Walmart grocery? I have never had this many problems before. We used it all the time before moving and never had an issue. This one sucks so bad. We chose a pick up time of 4-5 pm but drove over anyway when it still said preparing (this was at like 4:30). We called and they said they’d bring it out. We ended up waiting 30 minutes and it was past 5 pm when a lady came out saying we would get an email when it’s ready. What?! I’m not sitting around all day waiting for you to tell me my order is ready. It’s already getting late and we needed things from that order for dinner. Why did we even pick a time?

This is the same Walmart that gave me tweezers instead of a whistle.
Sunday is the busiest day in the grocery business. I haven't been doing my little side gigs in awhile, but when I was one of them was delivering the Walmart groceries. There were times I had to wait forever for them to bring the order out. Sundays are the worst. Most other days they were on schedule.

I went during the week last week and it took them 45 minutes lol. This was at like 1-2 on a Tuesday

I checked only booking dot com (because that's what my dad used for the reservations last fall) and they also showed sold out.

I am feeling more confident that it's simply too early. They're really, really not in a touristy area (which is one of the reasons we liked it so much) so I just cannot imagine the demand for that hotel being so high so far out.

I do not participate in bank bonuses for opening accounts, so forgive me if this is common knowledge. Just thought I would pass this info about DD along to those of you that do chase the bank bonuses.

I noticed that a Venmo transfer into one of my bank accounts went through as a DD. So for those of you that need to do DD to get the bonus you may want to try Venmo.

**Edited to remove question #1, which I got an answer to**
Here's a question. 2, actually.

  1. First of all, am I imagining that I did, at one time, see Hilton properties on the Chase UR travel portal? At the moment it's not finding any.
  2. Second, if Hilton isn't visible on the Chase portal, is there a way for me to see how many Hilton Points I need for a particular property/dates if I don't actually have any Hilton points yet? I have an "Honors" account but I don't see a way to change it to points view or whatever... only actual money.

I'm trying not to get too bogged down on the redemption value. If I were to change it, I'd opt for staying at Henn na, the dinosaur robot hotel, or the Godzilla hotel. At this point, I'm good with crossing off the Park Hyatt Tokyo from the "to do" list. So, I am just tempering my expectations in light of the recent feedback and reviews. I imagine I will enjoy the stay well enough but may not likely wish to return. Unlike Ashford Castle, where I loved the stay, am going back and don't really care how much it costs because that's what points are for anyhow.

When we go back to Japan again, after the expansion at TDS in a few years we will likely try out the Park Hyatt Kyoto. I'm looking forward to branching out onto Hyatt stays, It seems like most of the really nice properties are outside of the US. I will be checking out the ones you mentioned.

While I try to get the most value from the points, I'm often happy that I am just not paying real money despite the cpp. Take next year's Hawaii trip. I've got two rooms at an Emabassy Suites near LAX and I am blowing 100k HH points on them when they are $250 a night. I don't care, I just don't want to shell out more money OOP on this particular trip. Knowing that I can get an over water bungalow in the Maldives for one night that costs $1200 for less points is grating, but I can live with that.

AKV is my favorite DVC simply because I love watching the animals from our balcony. It's such a wonderful experience. Hopefully, you will add it on your to do list and get a do over with no food poisoning.

I'm with you on redemption value, especially as it comes to Hilton points. I was going back and forth on booking the Hilton Tokyo Bay for three nights for our Tokyo Disney trip since it's like 190k points. I was thinking maybe I should save those points for Hawaii and book the Sheraton Tokyo Bay instead. My decision ended up being easy because I realized there were no king rooms available at the Sheraton at all for our dates, but I also thought about how easy it is to earn more Hilton points as opposed to Marriott points. There weren't any Hilton properties in Hawaii that really jumped out to me either, so that helped solidify my decision.

Amex Blue Business Cash sign up offer ($250 on first $5,000 in 6 months, $250 on additional $10,000 in first year) is now available via referral. I was approved! Not for everyone but I have a lot of spending on taxes and possibly tuition coming up so I'm breezing through my MSRs.

No, I swear I read it in something I got. I'll have to look tomorrow. Either way it's going to sit on a biz card even if I have to pay interest. Only other way is if it's low enough they'll pull it out of a few months rent. But rent is only 650 and they won't float a ton.

TPG has a review up for the Park Hyatt Tokyo.
https://thepointsguy.com/reviews/park-hyatt-tokyo/
I know some of us have this hotel in our upcoming travel plans or wanderlists, so I thought I’d share. The reviewer’s criticisms seem fair at least not overly whiny and consistent with some of @*WDW*Groupie*’s impressions when she stayed there this summer.
I agree with what she said. The hotel needs to be updated (not just a refresh). Carpets are worn and furniture is from the 90s; when the best part of the room is the toilet (in my opinion), there might be a problem. The difference is she liked the area and I didn't care for it! For those with points, I wouldn't recommend wasting using them at this hotel.
