I finally bought the tix to go to India :faint: We'll be flying Lufthansa from PHL through Frankfurt:woohoo:Thanks everyone who helped me decide what to do!

And we're no longer flying as a group---3 people are going a few days earlier to Mumbai, 2 people are going a day early to recover from jet lag, and the other couple is flying from Florida  So dh and I will take a shuttle to PHL, enjoy the Centurion Lounge 🍸🍾 , and explore the Frankfurt airport and lounge(s) by ourselves! I may even take a shower at FRA :rotfl:

I am not sure if they code right if you are just charging them to your card. We charged everything back to the room when we did the offer last year.
This is what I’m concerned about 😬 I’ve just been paying with our cards everywhere and not charging to the room.

Will the Arrival keep the points active to be able redeem them for travel? Trying to decide what to do with my Arrival +. I still have a few points left to redeem.

Yes, I expected to lose the points I had when I downgraded but that didn't happen - I got to keep them. You get 1,000 points for first swipe with the no fee and it still earns 2x points on travel. 1x everywhere else.

Were these stays at Marriott timeshares? Are you a Marriott timeshare owner, or did you exchange through RCI or II?

I am not a Marriott owner. These are timeshare trades with Interval International. I read on TUG that you can add your Marriott number to your exchange certificate. I haven’t always been successful but I’ve had pretty good luck.

Sadly no. I think it is in reference to the "corrected" 1099s Chase has issued. Basically you are going to pay more tax on Marriott card referrals with this adjustment. @Albort did anything change with UR referrals?

Oh, well that's not good either. I was wondering if they were going to start charging 1.5 URs to transfer to Marriott, and then more for Hyatt. That would make me sad. I'm sorry for the 1099 issues as well. :(

I'm going to Japan in a couple months and I heard that most places don't take credit card. Does anyone know of a good bank that has free ATM withdrawals internationally? I heard about opening a Charles Schwab account. Are there any cons to it? TIA

Does anyone know...I have the $40 back on $200 bonvoy purchase. I had added the offer to each of our cards and each of our rooms has a card with the offer linked. I’ve been charging resort purchases, like picabu and fuel, to our bonvoy cards. Between those purchases and the resort fees, we should be over $200 on each card. Will that trigger the $40 back?

Got a couple days left so I’ll put all other charges on our resort bill. So glad I asked y’all here!!

Curious if you booked the Swolphin via Marriott or AA?

If directly via Marriott, I always charge onsite restaurants and resort purchases to my room because I have Gold Elite status from my Amex Plat(s) and Bonvoy Brilliant and that earns a 25% bonus points on the room rate and incidentals that are charged to the room, which means 12.5x points per dollar at most Marriotts. Then I’ll try to pay the hotel bill with a Bonvoy card for 6x points per dollar on Marriott purchases. If I paid the onsite restaurant, spa, gift shop, etc. directly with a Bonvoy card, I’d get the card’s 6x points whenever the POS is coded through Marriott but miss out on the 12.5x points that I could’ve earned if I had the charge added to my room.

If you booked through AA, then I’m not even sure if the Swolphin would recognize your Marriott Elite status and award you bonus points on your room charges. I agree with @Alexle2007 that the terms of the Amex Offer require the charges be towards your room bill, or at least practically speaking settled at the front desk.

Just thinking aloud.

No cons other than a hard pull, and maybe that CS is Chex sensitive.

Don’t forget to apply through a support link for a $100 checking account bonus:

We have a bank account with Heritage Bank NA and they refund all ATM fees up to a certain amount each month (including foreign ones). That worked perfectly for us while we were in Japan earlier this year.
