Soooo I found a lotion that I really like and have been trying to get more. I originally got it in a Walmart box as a sample but they don't carry it anymore. Turns out it is a UK brand and I cant find anywhere over here that sells it... so obviously I should plan a trip ASAP to stock up, right?

Curious if you booked the Swolphin via Marriott or AA?

If directly via Marriott, I always charge onsite restaurants and resort purchases to my room because I have Gold Elite status from my Amex Plat(s) and Bonvoy Brilliant and that earns a 25% bonus points on the room rate and incidentals that are charged to the room, which means 12.5x points per dollar at most Marriotts. Then I’ll try to pay the hotel bill with a Bonvoy card for 6x points per dollar on Marriott purchases. If I paid the onsite restaurant, spa, gift shop, etc. directly with a Bonvoy card, I’d get the card’s 6x points whenever the POS is coded through Marriott but miss out on the 12.5x points that I could’ve earned if I had the charge added to my room.

If you booked through AA, then I’m not even sure if the Swolphin would recognize your Marriott Elite status and award you bonus points on your room charges. I agree with @Alexle2007 that the terms of the Amex Offer require the charges be towards your room bill, or at least practically speaking settled at the front desk.

Just thinking aloud.
I did book through AA. Swan recognized our gold elite status for a room upgrade but not sure on the room charges and the amount we receive in points. I’m going to start charging everything to the room now and then I’ll report back how it all shakes out 😊

Friendly reminder that Southwest Airlines next schedule release is expected to occur on THIS Thursday August 15th.
  • This schedule release was pushed back twice in early July (it was originally supposed to occur on July 10th). Currently SW is offering flights through 1/5/20 and this release (when it finally occurs) will take their schedule out to 3/6/20.
In my experience, flights typically go “live” between 7am and 9am Eastern. The last release actually did not go live on the main search screen until 9:20am Eastern.

Did you have to pay the $30 resort fee? 67K for 5 nights sounds like a 1 sub vacation through AA. I like that and $150 for the resort fee would not offend me.
We do have to pay it and that fee is not included in the points we used. That did include a car which we chose to not pick up. So no parking fee for us but you’d have that cost too if you took the car.
The points and cash rates for swolphin are really low right now. I’m guessing in a more desirable time, 1 SUB may not go as far. We were locked in to this time period for this trip so it worked well. I’m really hoping we can come at a different time next year. I do not like August weather!!

So sitting here with 15 minutes before I go for a routine doctor visit.

Earlier this week I booked a free night for son and gf in Ocean City. It looks like I got the last available free night at that property for this Saturday. Cash price = $520 plus taxes and fees =$575.

If my math is correct that is 1.4ccp? Marriott is just not a high cpp so I don't understand how they can charge @Albort with 2cpp redemptions (Chase) when most of us are going to get a room for $300 or less when booking a 35K certificate. And that's $300 if your lucky. The good aspect is when you get the certificate for the $95 af.

Sure, I appear to have gotten a decent return, but, if I didn't have a lot of points, son would have been doing a day trip as I would not have used them if I didn't get 5 free nights per year plus my point stash.

So, I will continue to sock drawer my 5 cards except for a few outings to keep them active and my Marriott stash will dissipate. I will start to focus on other chains in the meantime and build up some Hyatt and Hilton with sign ups. Of course Amex may pop me off, but we will see.

I will have a car available but I won't be paying parking <g>.

I’m back ladies and gents! I’ve read every comment over the past week but had little time to reply and join in the fun.

We had a nice trip to Bethany Beach, enjoyed seeing some sights in Philly and visiting with family. Capped it off yesterday with 35 holes of golf on an “all you can play” pass near Bedford with my dad/uncle/cousin.

In churning news...CIP2 is a go! Pending at 11:41 last night. Approved by 1:45am (based on the “Mint notifications” I received in my emails. I still have to finish the MSR on my wife’s CIP2 but that can be done in a moment with our property taxes.

I’d definitely do that! Great deal! We spent 67k per room for 5 nights.
I was pretty sold on it, until I realized we would be checking out the day BEFORE food and wine. That is a bummer. So now I am trying to find new dates. I think I have to do a trip with DS9 and DD3 b/c DS11 has to stay behind for school. Then I will do another trip with DS11 and DD3 because DS9 has to stay behind for hockey. There isn't a time until Dec when I can take both DS at once due to their respective schedules.

I am planning to visit once or twice in the fall, but I think we will skip the parties. They used to be my absolute favorite thing in all of WDW. Then they started getting too crowded year by year and our last time (2017) I felt completely ripped off.

I keep saying they aren't worth it and Im not going and I somehow keep buying tickets. This year I think the new fireworks show kinda sold me and some updates to the attractions. SO really wants to do the Christmas party when we are there for our wedding, but I did not enjoy it last year. It was a zoo. The after hour events are so much better.

Congrats on the approval party:

We went last year for the first time and I couldn’t believe how crowded it was. We even did two parties to try and squeeze everything in. We’re still hoping to do MVMCP this year since we’ve never done it but I’m expecting it to be pretty busy

I added extra days in London after a cruise to purchase specific bath towels. So, this is completely reasonable to me. PlanePrincess would say to make sure you get lie flat seats for the trip.
