The thing with a WDW vacation is it takes LOTS of planning, and I mean more so then any other vacation spot! Most of us in here know this and plan accordingly, then in the middle of the day with no notice they drop SWGE is opening, midweek at the end of August...... :sad2: THEN again with no notice Disney drops reservations for GE for Savi's, Droid depot, and Oga's, kind of makes thing hard to schedule without deciding to spend the whole day in long lines.....It was pure luck when I booked our HS day on the 29th WAY back when we were allowed to book ADR's and when the big 3 opened up as I saw a thread in here about reservations for Savi's and was messing around on the WDW web site and then there it was "check availability" button for Savi's and was able to book. So our day of endless lines was no longer! Sucks to not be as lucky and I feel the frustration of some who are not able to book BUT persistence is the key, keep on trying as openings do happen every now and then, good luck!

I made my plans in May for December 1-8, pinning my hopes that Rise of Resistance would open some time in 2020. Imagine how I felt finding out it's opening right in the middle of my vacation 😅.

I got all my dining and experience reservations I wanted so I'm happy all things considered. I'm going to GE to explore the land. I'll pass on the rides for now.

To quote Leonard Snart "Make a plan, execute the plan, expect the plan to go off the rails, throw out the plan". I think this sums up just about every Disney vacation 🤣

I'm feeling the frustration with Disney planning right now, too. Our FP day is in 2 weeks and we arrive mid-day on the last day of EEMH. I'm going to be so frustrated if we book all our FPs then they announce major EMH changes that change which park we should go to each day. I'm okay if they don't extend EEMH; that's what I'm planning on for now. It's also okay if they continue offering it daily. But if they announce in October that they're going to continue it just a few days a week, that's going to throw all our months of planning out the window.

So just to be clear--you don't need a reservation at one of the 3 offerings to hopefully ride MF, correct? We have a few days of EEMH--so my plan was to get there early, and get into line. I don't really have interest in any of the 3 reservation places, so this is why I'm asking.

Correct, you do not need a reservation to enter the land, ride MF:SR, or shop at any of the other places that don't require reservations.

Man all of the stories about reservation changes are encouraging-I've got the TP reservation finder set in hopes of getting our Oga's moved to an earlier time. At least we have one and that's a good thing!

For me and Oga's I was lucky enough to find it on the WDW site, I clicked on every time they had available and low and behold 3PM showed up on the 29th! This is after trying every darn day after the ADR's opened, so keep on trying!!

We will be at Disney World (staying onsite) Nov 8-12. We have a Oga's reservation for 9:15am on Nov 11th. The park opens at 9:00am that day and as of right now there is no EMH for HS. Is there any advantage to having that morning reservation? We will get in early? We have been trying to get a lunch or dinner reservation for Oga's but have had no luck so far.

Going in December and staying off property so we're hitting GE Tuesday morning into the afternoon. Plans on what we're doing exactly are going to fluctuate depending on how bad it is. Did DL's GE last week and Smugglers Run wait time fluctuated between 30-40 minutes when I was back there in the evening. Don't think I'll get that good of wait times. But hopefully for friends sake we'll be able to hit Smugglers and Rise of the Resistence.

As long as the land doesn’t reach capacity that is correct. But it’s possible that the land WILL hit capacity on some days, in which case they may only allow in those with a reservation to one of the 3.

Im curious as to why Disney is being so closed lip about a multi billion dollar land opening up. First they said there would be no reservation system at WDW then the quietly open reservation system midday without any warning. Then no offical comment from Disney as to how opening day (which is just days away) will be handled, only what you can or can not wear. Us Disney fans spends months planning everything so that we can make the most of our time there, then they throw us curve balls. 😕

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I read some speculation that hearing about the virtual queue plans at Disneyland might have scared off visitors concerned about crowds. Maybe Disney is worried that any information they release will backfire? That said, I'm with you on wanting more info on how things will be handled. If Disney opens FP booking 60 days in advance, I feel like they should release firm park hours and other information by that point.

Possible? Sure. Likely enough to ratchet up someone's anxiety over this maybe happening during their trip? Probably not.
I'm actually feeling a lot less stressed since the time the opening date was announced to be the same weekend as our highly planned and very short trip, because between EEMH, an orderly ability to plan with reservations for most guests, and some encouraging historic precedence over in DL, I don't think it's going to be the apocalypse as first feared.

Don't confuse the reservation system they had at DL with what we have here at WDW> We DO NOT have a reservation system to enter the land like DL had. What we have is regular ADR for Oga and regular reservations like BBB for Savi and Droid Depot.
They said from the very beginning that WDW would not have a reservation system like DL and it doesn't.

True not the exact same but what Disney did with the release of ADR for GE was very frustrating. And with no information on how opening day will be managed is as well. I have elected to stay clear of opening day because from the lack of the ability to plan, it most likely will be a free for all.

Although I was expecting some information on opening day procedures, and we still might get that this week, I'm treating it the same as any other land/attraction opening day. For Pandora I was at the entrance by 5am and joined the queue, for NFL same thing, so for this, knowing the level of fandom and having previous experience with SWW, I'm showing up at midnight.
It's always a "free for all" every morning, at every Disney park. You are on this forum so you are better informed than most people who just show up at the parks

I am curious as I have NEVER done a Disney park opening or any other for that fact. when Pandora opened, 1) did it reach max capacity
2) how did Disney handle the crowds then
3) mornings are going to be crazy with the masses trying to squeeze in but did Pandora taper off during the day
4) VQ or?
5) do you happen to know how the rest of Animal Kingdom was crowd wise/ride wise

Just curious as I will be there on the 29th but dont have a reservation till 8AM and was hoping for entry between 6-7AM as I was hoping to get to Ronto before Savi's..........

On another forum, someone posted a response they'd gotten from Guest Services when they asked about entering the land with a reservation if it reaches capacity. The answer was that people listed on a reservation would be allowed into GE 1 hour before their reservation time. I hope that turns out to be the case!

I sure hope this is the case as I do not want to spend part of my vacation "camping" in a parking lot, and would be a bit upset if I could not get in to a reserved anything if the park hit capacity, I am sure there will be fluff in the allowed heads they let in to adjust for the reserved people as with them they know the number of people on the reservation. My only concern is IF there will be a HUGE, larger then mass of people all trying to get in, how will they distinguish between the hopefuls ( no reservations) and reserved people (with reservations), separate line, different entrance???....:confused3
