The other parks look like relative ghost towns. FOP has a 30 minute wait almost an hour after opening!

I'm here at epcot on the first day of food and wine and soarin' has a 10 minute wait right now an hour after open.

Is the VQ going to be a thing going forward? Or just something to manage the big crowds on opening weekend?
I think DL had the right idea with their reservation system!

DL had the right idea for what is a relatively SMALLER resort area that focuses more on locals. Reservations for a huge resort area like Disney World for a smaller park area would not work. Think of all the on property hotel guests they would need to accommodate. All the off property guests. AP holders. And so on. As much as I wish WDW COULD do a reservation system, they just couldn't do it. The extra extra magic hours amd fastpass tier change likely was their best option, as evidenced by the lowered wait times of other DHS attractions. I've seen FOP get up to 6 hours this past February. That Smuggler's Run is "only" 3 hrs & 15 minutes at the time of posting is actually a good sign.

I have a question. So, when the line for Smuggler's run was outside the land anyone could get in it, you didn't have to get a boarding pass to the land via virtual queue if the land was closed off? But, once the line for the ride is in the land you need a boarding pass to the land if the land is closed off to get in the ride line? Or also wondering if you had gone in the land just to look around and wanting to get in the line for the ride you had to exit and find the end of the line this morning when it was hanging outside the land?

If the land is closed off, that's when you need to get the boarding pass. I'm not sure what else you're trying to ask so hopefully someone else can jump in

I'm not there but from the sound of it the line was in an area by TSL where no one could get in except for the line itself. So I am sure if they put a few CM's there they could tell who was meant to be in the line and who wasn't.

So from the looks of it if you have no reservations and got there right at opening you might be able to do 2 or 3 things today. I would like to hear otherwise. It looks like insane lines for everything including getting milk or getting into Doc Ondars.

It was about a half hour once inside. Total wait was about 4 hours for us.

Curious how they are handling those with reservations. We go next weekend and we have a reservation for Savi's but it's only for 2 of us. Not sure if the other two would be able to come into the land with us or if they'd be forced to stay out. Anyone know?

Picture is horrible but does anyone know why they are placing cameras everywhere? I took this earlier but they are still there

There were cameras everywhere for the first couple of days at DL. Think they want to use them for promotional and time lapses. The zoom in magic shot is a good call though as well!

It’s far more “affordable” for me to do wdw than DL from uk.
We seriously considered flying out to LA during our trip in summer before the reservation period ended but the cost was extortionate for 2 of us for like 2 nights.
I paid same money more or less for 8nights in Orlando to do the AP preview. Which was a bonus trip.
DL just isn’t as attainable as wdw is too a lot of people

Will have to disagree there. We are from the UK and are AP holders at DL. It’s far cheaper then going to WDW for us and that’s with tagging on Vegas and San Diego. The last 3 times we have flown to LA, outside of school holidays, has cost us no more then £750 for two of us. Flights to Orlando have cost us that for this December. WDW with free dining is getting far too expensive. Over the last few years we are spending around £2000 more to keep staying in deluxes.

I suppose it depends if you are willing to stay offsite.

They are giving opening team cm a special SWGE mb.

We got on the DHS bus from WL around 10 am. There were just a few people going to DHS on our bus. We got to bag check around 10:15 and it was almost empty. We entered the park and got our boarding group. They don’t give you a return time. I guess we’ll get a notification when our group is ready. We are now on our way to Epcot with people who have ridden MF. The early morning people are leaving DHS now

As I understand it the other two should be able to get in as your +1's since you have a party of two to build but take that with a grain of salt.

Is it a four hour visit window like DL? I didn't think it was, and you could linger in the park, but not linger in the experiences like Savi's and Oga's.

That's what I did on my way home too. Ended up getting a much earlier start than I would have if not for GE. I was out of the park by 6:30 and on my way to run errands. I would have still been in bed otherwise most likely haha.
