I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I just counted back 24 months. I got two cards under my name in 24 months, was added as user on one of my husbands.
I have three other cards in my name that are about 5 years and older.
So I assume at this point, Chase would count 3/24?
My goal would be the companion pass for next year.
The SW card my husband got earlier this year had a sign on for 30,000 pts and Companion pass through the end of 2019.
I do not qualify for the Business card.
We've gotten used to that benefit and will sorely miss it if we cannot obtain another companion pass!
Are you looking at all issuers, not just Chase? Any store cards or financing deals? The very best thing to be accurate is to get a Credit Karma account... sometimes store cards can goof up 5/24 or 0% financing deals can really be credit card accounts.

Yep! That is card from all companies.

Back then Chase was giving 115 days to meet MSR. Has this changed? I think I've read somewhere that Chase reps are now saying 90 days o 3 months?

I can confirm that recently for my CIP, I only had 90 days from my approval to meet my MSR. I asked by secure message to be sure. I was kind of annoyed that they don’t add an extra week or so to account for the time it takes to get the card in your hands.

The next hassle will be going all the way back to the Global Entry office (which is at an airport 90 minutes from my house) to get my GE relinked. You would think that government could make things automatic.... but no. #RedTape
Do you have to go to the office? IIRC DD's passport changed and we were able to update it on line. This was a couple of years ago though.

I know I had this on my card some time back. I didn't use it. I'm wondering of this is a 'new' offer, since it doesn't expire until Dec 9.

Thanks! Of the 8 biz cards to which I have access, found it on one. Super helpful :)

So Amex gave me the account number for DH's new Delta Biz Plat last night, but I can't use it. It keeps getting declined :-(

Hmm, were the other cards open recently, as long as the AU does not take you over 5/24 it shouldn't cause you not to be approved for your own SW cards. Have you held SW cards previously? Do you have any side business-poshmark, ebay sales, etc as without getting a SW business card getting a CP is very difficult and will require large amounts of spend on the SW card-need 110,000 points during a calendar year, you are only eligible for 1 SW personal SUB for 24 months. Largest personal SUB is 50,000 with inflight offer at this point. The SW personal with CP for the rest of the year, was a new promotion this year, unsure if they will run this SUB again next year.

Thank you, good idea.
Activity in last 24 months:

10/2018 Amex Plat personal
02/2018 Discover personal
02/2018 Amex Gold personal
03/2018 Amex Marriott biz
09/2018 Amex Delta Gold biz
07/2019 Amex Delta Plat biz
09/2/2019 Nordstroms not showing credit check on CK so not sure what they pull

Also open
Chase United personal
Chase IHG personal
Chase CSR personal
Chase Ink biz
Chase SW biz and personal closed in April (bonus restriction period passed)

I was a pretty loyal SW flyer (Midway) but after relocating to MI I have been using Delta. Since the whole family will be going to Vero in April getting SW cc's again will be beneficial plus that opens an option to fly to Aulani in a couple of years via the west coast. Although I am getting push back on that so will likely want cycle back to United points (for the non-stop option out of Chicago) in the near future (as in, after I am clear for SW applications timewise).
I do pay my CC off each month and do have lots of organic spending opportunities :(

Thank you!

Edited to add no AU's

Hmm...is the nordstroms card just a store card or can it be used other places? You are 3 or 4/24 depending on the Nordstroms card. I would suggest at this time getting a CIP, with 80,000 URs, would give you flexibility if you need SW vs. United. Also does not add to your x/24 and would potentially leave you in an ok spot for going for the SW CP at the end of the year if you would find that beneficial for you.

So dumb question but just want to check-

If I wanted to, could I finish my CIP MSR by paying $800 toward my cruise, and then when the bonus posts just request those points on a statement credit to kind of “erase” that cruise charge? Or is that not kosher and I should meet the spend and then charge an additional $800 before requesting a statement credit?

Nope, you can certainly do that if you choose to.

As @Alexle2007 answered, you can definitely do that. A great way to erase your charge.

Just one thing to keep in mind is that URs are worth 1.25 cents each (thanks to your CIP) if you redeem through the UR portal for travel. So those 80,000 points needed to erase the $800 could be worth $1,000.

There’s no wrong redemption, it’s whatever makes the most sense for your situation. I just wanted to make sure you knew about the travel redemption option. The Chase portal uses Expedia and of course there are no Disney hotels or cruise options but there are many other good flight, rental car, hotel, and activity options. I used a few hundred thousand URs to pay for our cruise on NCL last year and it was so awesome to get a free cruise!

As far as I know (I haven't received it yet but I don't recall a Visa emblem on any of the pics I have seen) it's just a store card. Is it possible Nordstroms won't count toward 5/24? I see your point on the CIP but I was thinking the 2 x point value toward the 9 r/t flights I will be purchasing would be more beneficial but does CIP offer 3 x for travel (I don't recall)? I currently have a CIP but see others are getting additional CIP accounts. Why would Chase be ok with that? That confuses me.

Yes it is possible Nordstroms won't count, my home depot card did not, if it is just a store card it may not.

CIP would be 3 UR's per dollar for travel, and Southwest flights would code as travel. Currently Chase is allowing multiple CIP to be open even though the fine print says people are not eligible for the bonus if open within 24 months, it is a loophole that may close at anytime. Chase has not denied bonus' if you are approved for the card, I guess that could change, but overall I think it is a low risk. Of course you have to do what you are comfortable with, many of us have gone for multiple CIP's.

I have been getting VGCs to liquidate at DG with Serve.
Is the consensus that MCGCs don’t work at DG? I need to put grocery spend on a Citi card and they currently have the MCGC, not Visa.

Shoot if I had known N wouldn't have counted I would have jumped on it a loong time ago. Last question I think and thank you so much for your time (and my apologies to everyone else for monopolizing) do you close out your existing CIP or keep it open?

DH opened a Nordstroms store card (not a Visa) in March 2017 and it shows on his Experian record so I'm assuming your Nordstroms card counts towards 5/24. Or maybe something has changed since my DH opened his?

Chase has thus far allowed this CIP loophole, so those who can, are getting multiples while it lasts. Both DH and I are on #3. He has 3 open, I have 2 open.

yeah may or may not count...

if the CIP is a year or more than ok to close-do not close it if it is less than a year old. Ok to keep the 1st CIP open and open another.

Is the Delta gift card still working for the $100 credit for $100 Delta purchase?
I think only with delta card not AMEX

Ugh mine too!!!
I have found the holy grail of MS a grocery store that lets me buy MOs with a credit card. The problem it’s 30 mins away. A Walmart is about 10 mins from the grocery store that lets me load serve and get MOs with the gebit cards from GCM. Is it worth driving there every weekday?
WHERE????!!!
