Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Atmosphere/Entertainment/Interactivity

We visited Batuu on Saturday 8/31 and it was SO MUCH FUN!

My youngest got the staredown from a First Order officer
The kids were recruited by Vi and Chewy for the Resistance
We interacted with a couple of Stormtroopers several times through the land
Kylo walked by on the way to his ship, noticed my DS12's Jedi Academy button from Jedi Training and had a little "chat" with him lol

We had a blast hacking into panels, droids and ships on the datapad! The credits and alignments all seemed to be working properly throughout the day (we entered the land more than once through the whole day).

All in all, WELL DONE DISNEY.

I am so excited to hear posts like this. Sadly most things anymore are GO GO GO!!! Get to the ride!!! Ignore everything else!!! I'm glad Disney is taking the "chance" to try to make an much more immersive experience. And I really hope people get into it and start interacting and doing all the other "stuff" that isnt a ride..

For those following at home, the "Grand Opening" achievement for GE is discontinued and "Black Spire Explorer" is now in place. Simply entering the land with the app open will unlock the achievement.

As an aside, I got the "A New Saga Begins" Achievement for going to Galaxy's Edge at DLR this weekend.

How do you use the QR scanner with the play app?

First, you have to allow the app permission to access your camera. Then when you open the datapad app, under the tools menu pick scan and the camera will come on. After that there are buttons on the screen to turn on the flash and to initiate scan.

Any updates on what kind of cosplaying/disney bounding is allowed in GE? My 11yo has a Han Solo-inspired outfit (all Disney bounding, pieced together, not a costume), is that going to be okay? A Rey-inspired outfit for me, yay or nay? My husband and 7yo are almost definitely wearing regular clothes, they are not cosplayers.

Same policy as at the other parks. Policy is on the website. 14 and under, or maybe its under 14, full costumes are ok but no weapons aside from lightsabers and masks must show the eyes. Older guests, no masks, no costumes, period, unless at the Halloween party. BUT you can wear normal clothing that imitates a characters look. If you buy all the pieces to a characters outift at GE, you can’t wear all the pieces as thats a costume but you can wear say Rey’s grey vest over your normal white shirt and normal green pants. No Jedi robes allowed but you can wear a brown jedi shirt with brown pants, surprisingly. I’ve been wearing a white shirt, green pants, Reys hairstyle, and belt with my homemade Anakin/Luke/Rey lightsaber no problem. I’ve seen adults as Han, Rey, and Jedi. Han is easy as he basically does wear normal clothes in Ep. IV. Here’s the links to the two blog posts from Disney:

It's fine. Just no weapons

What is the point of credits and items in the datapad? What do we do with them? Why would we want to trade items with someone? And why oh why aren’t the items actually there? I would love to browse the blueprints of the falcon, examine the memories of droids, etc. :)

Only the ancients know ;)

Right now, it's purely cosmetic. In the coming months, credits can be used to purchase more Jobs/Missions.
I really hope it's true cause earning credits would be pretty pointless, I am having fun with the app all the same though

I love the datapad too but am hoping it’s still a work in progress. There’s so much more they can do with it. More jobs would be good too. A lot more jobs.

Birdie told me (no not people data mining) that a fairly major update to the Datapad is due with the opening of RotR. Don't know if it will give a use for credits, but there is def more in the pipeline.
