Am I the only one that is unimpressed with SWGE - where is the juice?

I went a couple days and enjoyed it immensely. My only complaint was the single riders line stairs which was a bit much. But I can't complain about the character interaction. I saw the The first order commander, Vi, Rey and Chewie interacting so much. Best part of the land

I still for the life of me cannot figure out why anyone would think Pandora is the better land. It's smaller and not a thing to do there outside of the 2 rides. There is no "hang-out-and-enjoy" factor to Pandora at all. It's pretty...but that's it. No interaction. I'm biased though as I LOATHE FoP and Satu' li Canteen.

Galaxy's Edge is, in my opinion, every bit as awesome as WWOHP (and maybe even a little bit better). Hopefully people will continue to think GE is no good and the lines will stay short. Can't wait to get back to Batuu!

Well, I think you’ve answered your own question. Lol.

But if you’re talking about the land itself, and not the food or attractions, I can see how some would prefer Pandora. It’s lush, beautiful, colourful. The opposite of Batuu. Some people just prefer that.

I WANT to love FOP but it makes me so Nauseaous that I can't get 16 seconds in before I want to die.

Sure I can because I just did. I am making a figurative point which you (I believe) took a bit more literal than I intended. I have seen a lot of comments in these forums that are trying to defend or tear down SWGE. I don't have an agenda at work here, just an opinion based on a first-hand experience.

IMHO, when a family roller coaster that has been open for 15 months is outdrawing a Star Wars ride that is brand new...with the attendant hype...that leaves a particular impression.

With that said, I don't mind anyone disagreeing with me.
I think what bears further consideration is how the lack of FP on MFSR demonstrates that the FP+ system might artificially inflate standby wait times, and may not really be an indicator of an attractions “popularity” or demand.

Where there's smoke there's fire. And there is smoke from GE on both coasts - neither is drawing flies. While GE is beautifully designed, it missed the boat by being based upon the sequel trilogy which few really care for. All that plus a decidedly meh attraction adds up to a huge miss by Disney. Pandora and HP blow it out of the water and those two franchises are not nearly as valuable. Disney screwed up. It's ok to say that, they usually don't. But this is a huge miss.

Agree with everything except HP not being nearly as valuable. I'm not a fan but those films have made a ton of cash.

Yes; the HP movies made "a ton of cash", but still not nearly as much as SW. At the US box office, the 10 HP films (including the 2 Fantastic Beasts films) grossed $2.8 billion while the top 10 grossing SW films grossed $4.5 billion. When you adjust for inflation (to make it a fair comparison), it's not even close: $3.6 billion for HP to $7.5 billion for SW. On the list of top box office revenue globally, adjusted for inflation, the top-grossing SW film is #4, with 2 SW films in the top 10 and 4 SW films in the top 25. The highest-grossing HP film is #27 on the list. SW also has 42 years of merchandising revenue compared to 18 for the HP films.

When looking at value to the parks, SW is also potentially more valuable simply because Universal does not own HP. They license it from WB, and and have to pay them a recurring licensing fee as well as a percentage of merchandising revenue. Disney owns Star Wars. They don't have have to pay licensing fees, or share merchandise revenue.

I think this is another one of those "my opinion about the land is fact" posts...

sorry but I don’t think I’m the only one who has this opinion. There is nothing I’m saying anything that isn’t well documented by other sources. Just do a quick google search and you will see tons of articles and blogs about lack of crowds, cast members hours being cut , the divided fan base, etc.Do some homework buddy.

Forgive me if I'm not taking all of these "blogs" as fact. The articles for that matter too. You have no data or proof to back up your claim that it's doing poorly. Nobody does frankly. I've done homework, and there's nothing to support what you claim.

Really?

1. A highly promoted but ultimately unused Boarding Group system on both coasts.

2. Cast Member blackouts established in anticipation of high crowds lifted on both coasts after the crowds never materialized.

3. Domestic park attendance down 3% AFTER SWGE opened.

4. AP “bring a friend” ticket discount offered in DL mere weeks after opening to goose attendance.

5. CM hours cut significantly in DL.

6. Iger having to explain all of above (at least as related to DL) to shareholders on August 7 and swearing up, down, and every way to Sunday that everything’s fine! Really, it’s fine!

The evidence that the land is not performing as Disney expected is plentiful. And two things can be true at the same time. It is possible to both LOVE the land and think it’s just the bee’s knees, *and also* acknowledge that this wasn’t The Plan.

It’s clear you love this land, Disney, and everything to do with this land and Disney, and won’t hear a word against it. I hope your view of SWGE ends up prevailing and proves us all wrong!

ETA: Add Catherine Powell’s sudden departure to “do something different” to the list.

I love hanging out with DJ Wrecks in the afternoon for a cold beer or two after a hot day in the parks. Wasn’t sure I approved of alcohol in Disneyland after all these years but it makes for a nice break for all without having to leave the park.

Maybe everything IS fine? Not using a boarding system is a good thing. Having to use one means they weren’t able to handle the capacity and can’t control everything. Perhaps, maybe just maybe, they’ve planned everything out well. I hear plenty of words against Disney, but I also here a lot of unsubstantiated rumors and gossip. That’s what these boards do best. Where’s your data about park attendance? And I believe park attendance is down all over, likely due to ever increasing costs, unrelated to Star Wars.

Disney did not sink its funds into boarding group system they planned not to use. That’s not how corporations work. The data on park attendance came from a Bob Iger himself on the same shareholder call on August 7. That said, I’m going to bow out of this argument now, because we aren’t going to change each other’s minds. Like I said, I hope you end up being the right one!

I doubt they spent all that much money on a boarding system, and they’re probably just fine not having to use it.

What, so everything on the net is not true then....................FOR SHAME!!!

FWIW those blogs are just a bunch of whiny, complaining, never likes anything types.......ever notice it is the same ones complaining all of the time?

Everyone always seems to forget that MGM Studios opened with, guess what, only 2 attractions :D
SWGE is not going to be for everyone but it it a hit with SW fans young and old alike. I couldn't care less if there is a ride, to me the attraction is the land itself and they did a fantastic job, imho. There's always a group that will not like it and that's ok too

I remember going to MGM Studios a few weeks after opening. We stayed less than an hour, totally unimpressed, thought it was horrid. It became one of my favorite parks for a long time and is on it's way to getting back there very soon. I so agree about the land being the attraction. I haven't been yet, leaving tomorrow, but I could care less about the ride. I just want to experience the land.
