Just a Couple of Childless (for the week) Millennials, Here to Ruin the Fun for Families *COMPLETED 1/5*

That's too bad that you got caught in the rain on BTMRR! You certainly didn't let it slow you down as you managed to pack a lot of fun and attractions into your evening!
Rainy nights are my favorite because you can get so much done.

Your picture on Space Mountain is great! :rotfl: I will miss the moving walkway - it was one of my favorite attraction exits!
I know I loved the moving walkway, the new version is not as fun

Your picture of HEA is AMAZING!
Thank you

Our time at the Poly definitely does sound similar!

All of your drinks at Tambu sound delicious. We may have to add that as a stop on our next trip.
Really recommend for an relaxed evening at the Poly.

Love your Buzz ride photo- that's 100% what my face will look like if I ever manage to win lol
I mean it's so rare, I needed to rub it in

Sounds like a great night, even with the rain! You guys got a lot of rides in!
It was I always take advantage of low crowds when the rain comes.

Really, that worked out nicely then! Gotta love those anytime FPs. You really did a great job of making the most of that rolling "4th" FP!
It was by far my most successful go at the refresh method, but I did feel like I was always staring at my phone.

Ahh... the wonderful feeling of a less crowded park after the rain scares everyone off. That's my favorite time!
Me too! My saying is poncho up and carry on.

You don't see very many good pictures on Buzz Lightyear. But this is definitely one of them!
:lmao: Why thank you

Your on ride picture game was strong that night!
We were on our A game

You guys really had an awesome day. And again, it is clear to tell that you were having a great time from the pictures!
We definitely did, one of our best nights I'd say

Following along!
thanks for joining in Lesley :wave2:

I'm glad you really liked Toledo. I'm eating there in December and was unsure about it, but I would probably end up getting your dish and it looked good!
I hope you like it as much as we did. I almost cancelled it and I am so glad I didn't

ah... a fellow people mover lover... to be among my people... PS so jealous of your t-shirt!
Thanks I got it at Mickey Star Traders last September.

What a great day at MK for sure. So glad you got as much done as you did. I also miss Wishes but the new show is starting to grow on me a little bit.
I just wish it had more of the emotional pull that Wishes did and was more of a story.

Sad you didn't get to ride Splash Mountain. It's been our go-to end of the night ride for our last few trips.
We had a FP for it the next day. Sadly Joe isn't a Splash Mountain fan, so I have to beg his to go on it.

It definitely sounds like a fabulous day!♡♡♡♡
It was, we had the best time.

Wanna Go See Some Creepy Dolls?

We were up and out the door early this morning for our Magic Kingdom day. We ordered a Lyft to take us back to the Polynesian.

It was quiet and peaceful this morning. I feel like that is so rare for the Poly, but I certainly enjoyed it.

We checked in a little bit early, and then sat in the Ohana area to wait. Right at 7:30 we were taken to a nice table over by the windows.

There was a winderwasher out there, and we were quiet intrigued by his brush/hose apparatus.

Joe and I both got Tonga Toast and split a french press.

Breakfast was super quick, which we found to be the trend the whole trip. I don’t know if it was because we were just two people or what, but almost every TS was under 45 minutes experiences. On a morning like this day when I was itching to get to the park, it was fine. In any case this breakfast took less than 30 minutes, and soon we were on the monorail.

The park seemed very quiet when we got there. I noticed the train sitting perfectly outside the train station and I got a pang of sadness missing the welcome show. No time to dawdle, we were on Main Street soon.

Pictured out, and with plenty of time until rope drop, we hung out near the Adventureland entrance.

Once the rope was dropped, we got in line for our first attraction, the Jungle Cruise. (BTW Did anyone see the Jungle Cruise trailer, I'm excited for it)

First boat of the day

I hear he’s got a great deal going on

Normally, we would stay in this area of the park, but for some reason I felt compelled to get some Fantasyland rides done while the crowds were low. We walked over to Winnie the Pooh and did that. I have no photographic evidence, so you’ll have to take my word for it. Next up we went on the Little Mermaid.

It was only 9:40 at this point, and I had a decision to make. Gaston started meeting at 10, so I could get in line now to ensure I meet him, or go hit up some more rides and then more than likely skip the meet because the line to be too long later. Now normal me would be rushing from ride to ride, prioritizing that over all else, but no plan Ashley wanted to stop and enjoy things. So I went against natural instincts and got in line. Joe went into Gaston’s Tavern to grab us a Le Fou’s Brew to share.

We were only second in line, and soon I was finally meeting Gaston for the first time.

I said nice to meet you, he said I know. It was a little awkward, I talked to him about how I wanted to meet for so long, so today I made sure I got to do it. He loved that.

Then he just randomly stopped talking and started posing for the picture.

It was brief, but I assumed it was over and started to leave and then he starts trying to talk to me again :confused3 .

He asked me about Joe who was off to the side videoing everything. He blessed our marriage and we were on our way. It was a little awkward, but mostly fun and I am glad I got to do it once. Then we stopped for some photopass pictures, move over Gaston.

We wanted to head back to the other side of the park since we had fastpasses over there later. Our first ride on the trek over was on it’s a small world. I heard a dad ask his family if they wanted to go see some creepy dolls.:rotfl2:

Always got to get a picture of my favorite hippo.

The joys of dining without kids!

I can't wait to see it!

Well, aside from the awkward instances, it looks like it was a fun opportunity and I'm glad you finally got to meet him.

Well, sounds about right. I mean, did you ever read the Kingdom Keepers books? I can't not think about the dolls coming to life when I ride now. :rotfl2:

I have 1 thing to say, "Tonga Toast for the win!" Loving reading about your adventures.

The resort breakfasts always seem to be pretty speedy, especially if you're there first thing. It's great because you have plenty of time to have breakfast and then get to a park!

Wow, the first boat of the day on JC?! That's awesome! Considering that line becomes crazy later in the day that was a great first attraction!

I've not had a chance to meet Gaston yet either - maybe one day! I feel like the face character meets have a higher probability of being awkward. At least you got to cross that meet off your bucket list!

Awww, I also love the drunken hippo on IASW!

YUM! You know it will be a good day if it starts with Tonga Toast!

Sorry your Gaston meet was awkward- I met him once with a bunch of friends- it was also awkward! This year, he's coming to a private breakfast we are having!

Glad you finally got to meet Gaston!

Sounds like a great morning so far.
I am glad I did it once, the pictures are cute. It was only made more awkward by all the little girls in line to meet him, I was the only adult :rolleyes1

The joys of dining without kids!
Truth

I can't wait to see it!
It looks fun for sure.

Well, aside from the awkward instances, it looks like it was a fun opportunity and I'm glad you finally got to meet him.
Me too it's been on the bucket list for awhile.

Well, sounds about right. I mean, did you ever read the Kingdom Keepers books? I can't not think about the dolls coming to life when I ride now. :rotfl2:
I have not, precisely because I knew there was the iasw scene, and I don't want to be scarred for life.

I have 1 thing to say, "Tonga Toast for the win!" Loving reading about your adventures.
Tonga Toast is amazing! Thanks for reading.

The resort breakfasts always seem to be pretty speedy, especially if you're there first thing. It's great because you have plenty of time to have breakfast and then get to a park!
I agree, I am always ready to get to the parks in the morning, I just wish we didn't feel so rushed in some other meals we had.

Wow, the first boat of the day on JC?! That's awesome! Considering that line becomes crazy later in the day that was a great first attraction!
It amazing how quickly I can get somewhere when I not dragging kids along or pushing a stroller.

I've not had a chance to meet Gaston yet either - maybe one day! I feel like the face character meets have a higher probability of being awkward. At least you got to cross that meet off your bucket list!
I mean he did try to engage, I think I was the awkward one :rotfl2:

Awww, I also love the drunken hippo on IASW!
She's the best

YUM! You know it will be a good day if it starts with Tonga Toast!
Of course :lovestruc

Sorry your Gaston meet was awkward- I met him once with a bunch of friends- it was also awkward! This year, he's coming to a private breakfast we are having!
Wow how impressive, hopefully you're meet and greet will be less awkward

Auditioning to be a Jungle Cruise Skipper

After our happy cruise we got in line at Haunted Mansion. While we were in line, the cms were driving the Tom Sawyer raft from backstage over to the pick up area, and they started trying to warn us that we were in line for a haunted house :lmao: .

We weren’t very impressed with this supposed haunted house.

No matter how many times I go or how much I plan, there always seems to be time when I make rookie mistakes. I had looked at our FPs a bunch of times and I thought I knew them, and I knew that after Haunted Mansion, we were cutting it close to get over to our FP, so we hightail it over to Frontierland and jump in the Big Thunder Mountain line, and it turns blue. Before I even realize the mistake, the CM says your early, its fine and lets us on. It's then that I understand our fastpass that has the window closing is actually Splash and BTMRR was the second FP:sad2:. Since we already used our FP for this ride, I didn’t want to mess things up so we just got on. Would be able to ride BTMRR and still make it to splash before our grace period was up?

Yup. We literally made it to Splash under the wire. Look how stressed we were.

Next up, we had another new to us experience to try out, Tom Sawyer Island.

The boats were coming constantly which was nice. I thought it was more of a Rafiki’s Planet Watch situation(which I find to be a pain in the butt to get to), but it was very easy.

Once on the island we had a lot of fun exploring.

I loved how you still had all the sights and sounds of Magic Kingdom, but didn’t have to deal with all the people:thumbsup2.

Joe found a ship, and decided to try out his audition to be a Jungle Cruise skipper.

After some time exploring, we were feeling very hungry, so we got on the next raft out. On the way over we placed our mobile order. Lunch this afternoon was at Peco’s Bills.

Look at that line we skipped.

Did I catch that man picking his nose? :rotfl2:

We got our usual order of nachos with beef to split. We loaded up on lots of toppings and it was plenty for us to share. The problem was finding a place to sit. We had to walk to what I think might have actually been Tortuga Tavern’s dining area, to find a table. We enjoyed our meal and the nice respite from the heat before heading out to our final fatspass of the day. We had to cross the hub, and the Move it Shake it, whatever it is called was starting, so we stopped for a minute.

Our final fastpass was for Space Mountain. And the line was all the way to the peoplemover track. It sucked to have to wait in the hot sun, but I wanted to use it, so we could get a 4th fastpass at AK in the evening. The wait just to get to the FP check point was 20 minutes. Once we were scanned in, it was a walk on. I honestly don’t understand what the issue is, but it seems ridiculous that it should take 20 minutes just to scan your band. We noticed a huge increase this trip of people that have no idea what the heck faspass is. Literally every single time we went to use a FP there was someone clueless EVREY.SINGLE.TIME. In the end it’s an annoyance to us and then we go on about our day, but I feel terrible for the CMs who have to put up with it nonstop, I want to quit just thinking about it. Sorry rant over

Anyway, we got directed to the Alpha side this time, and two women and a toddler get in line behind us. The toddler was asleep and clearly to short to ride. I was under the impression that under no circumstance was a child under the height requirement allowed to enter the queue. I was so confused by this, and honestly I hate the policy. I feel like Disney would have a much easier time handling rider swap if they just did it the way Universal does it. Either way, I am not sure how they were able to get around this rule, but if you’re reading this and you know of an exception let me know, because I am curious.

After all that drama, we were finally able to ride. Joe and I discussed all our poses beforehand, but in only our second park day we had run our of ideas. Joe said he was going to do something for our middle child J.

Lol, J does love to dab. It’s hilarious that the kid behind us doesn’t want to be associated with us. I love that our embarrassment isn’t just limited to our own children.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We had another new experience to get to, but first we stopped in the Town Square Theater to sign Mickey’s birthday guest book. Then I heard the Dapper Dans finishing their set, so I went out to watch.

We decided to take the boat over to Grand Floridian. We had never come from this direction, but we found our way to the main building easily enough. I took a picture for my mom who had just booked a trip to stay here in June.

Winnie the Pooh and Tigger were out meeting. I really wanted to say hi, but I would have had to bowl over some kids to do that. I didn’t want to be THAT childless (for the week) Millenial.

We did a quick costume change in the bathrooms near 1900 Park Fare. There isn’t a dress code, but after being in the park all hot and sweaty, I wanted to dress the part. Once we checked in, we were seated right away. Here we are trying to pretend we’re fancy.

I picked out a black tea, that had some fruity notes in it. Joe picked out a green tea.

Joe wanted to go with the Cheshire Tea, so I got that as well. It came with the three original courses along with a selection of exotic fruits and cheeses. The first course was finger sandwiches, consisting of cucumber, sweet chicken curry, egg salad, fire roasted tomato, fig and cheese, and an onion tarlet.

Season 1 Friends GIF

We both really enjoyed the sandwiches. The fruit plate I wouldn’t get again. The fruits were not good, and while I loved all the cheeses, it was not worth the additional $15.

Next they brought out the second and third courses.

We had a scone with crème, lemon curd, and jam and then a strawberry tart.

For dessert, Joe got the seasonal English trifle, which I believe was berry.

Who knew I'd have so many Friends gifs to use while talking about the Grand Floridian

I chose the pastries, which included mousse filled swan, macaroons, and a chocolate covered strawberry.

Overall, we really enjoyed the tea experience, and I would definitely do it again.

Last one promise

We took the monorail back to MK and then got in line for the busses. I spotted the new buses, but at that time they were only sitting around or transporting CMs.

We went back to Coronado and took a well-deserved nap.

Tom Sawyer Island - fun! I've never been there (unless I was there as a young child and don't remember), but really should try and explore over there someday. I finally went to Rafiki's Planet Watch in 2016 and really enjoyed it!

I'm glad your initial FP oversight didn't keep you from riding all three mountains at MK. :goodvibes

Great picture of the lobby ceiling at the Grand Floridian!

I LOVE the Garden View Tea! When I'd go with Anika we'd have just one of us get the meal with the fruit and cheese plate and the other get the smaller meal with the sandwiches/pastries/dessert. This way we'd still get a taste of fruit and cheese but it wasn't such an overwhelming amount of food (plus it was a little cheaper, too). I'm sad that my next trip will be the first time I won't be booking it in years... it just doesn't make sense with a toddler. I can't wait for her to get a bit older so we can have a Mommy/daughter date! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and hope you get the chance to do it again!

It is great for kids, you can just let them run around and burn off energy away from corwds.

Thank goodness for the 15 minute grace period

Great picture of the lobby ceiling at the Grand Floridian!
thanks

Oh that will be so cute when she's older. we saw lots of mother/daughter pairs there.

Glad you were able to make your FPs despite the mistake! And what a nice time doing tea at the GF!!
I am so glad Disney gives you a grave period, otherwise it wouldn't have worked. We really liked tea, it is a nice change of pace from the busy parks.

Only get into a Stranger's Van at Disney

When I woke up from my nap, I felt very ill. I decided to push through and try and get ready for our evening at Animal Kingdom, but apart from getting dressed, I didn’t have the desire to do much else. Once Joe was up, he started to get ready and I laid back down, I was down for the count. I felt so nauseous and I didn’t want to be out and about and far from a bathroom. Joe also informed me that his stomach didn’t feel well either. We made the executive decision to take the night off. I was super bummed to be sure, I always want to maximize my time in the parks as much as possible. Other than when we need to sleep, I want to be in the parks enjoying everything, so it killed me to stay behind. I asked Joe, who didn’t feel quite as awful as me, to run to Panchito's, to see if he could get some ginger ale or pepto.

Joe came through and was able to get both. We drank our tonics, and hoped we would at least feel good enough to go to the pool. Around 6, I started to feel better, but the weather looked terrible, so swimming would probably be out. I got a push notification that said our FP for Expedition Everst had turned into an anytime fastpass. Since I was feeling slightly better, I hopped on the app, to see if I could get another FP, which might make it worth it to venture back out. Sure enough I was able to snag a Dinosaur FP, and within 10 minutes we were on our way to the bus stop.

Looks like a bus was on it’s way, but it kept getting pushed back. Joe and I were just relaxing in the shelter area, and a man in a white Disney van pulls up. He asks where we’re headed, and we tell him AK. He asks us if we would like a ride there.

Only in Disney would a strange man in a van be allowed to pick people up. Since we were the first stop, he went around to the other ones to see if any other people were on their way to AK as well. He asked us how we liked the resort. And then he told us that there was an Ernst & Young Conference going on for their interns and to expect the resort to get a lot busier during the week. This is definitely something we saw over the next few days. The quiet pools were flooded withe college kids every night and it got quite loud.

We picked up two older couples on their way to AK for a Tiffins reservation. We had an nice ride over to AK talking to fellow Disney fanatics. One of the couples really connected with us because one wife was more laid back and go with the flow and one wife was more go-go attitude. So laid back wife was actually sitting next to Joe in the back and commiserating with him because they're the laidback ones and next thing I know I look over and she’s giving Joe a massage.

It was unexpected and a little weird, but you know…whatever.

We said goodbye to our new friends and I snapped a pic of a rainbow as we entered Animal Kingdom.

There wasn’t much to do and we had some time before our Dino FP, so we decided to do some shopping. We went into the shop across from Dinorama. They had a lot of the cute food themed merch out. I picked up a shirt for my mom and dad. She got a cupcake that says sweet and his has a pretzel that says salty. She mentioned them when she was in Disneyland and I bought them for her as a thank you for watching the boys. I also picked up some Mickey shaped food socks for Joe and shirt that says Disney life I had been on the hunt for since September, for myself.

I had the purchases sent back to the resort and as we were leaving the shop I had a notification on my phone that my Starbucks card had a new balance of $0. My heart dropped. We had just under $100 on the card before we went on the trip. I had loaded it up prior to leaving because we like to treat ourselves on vacation. We hadn’t actually used it since we were in the airport the day we traveled, two days prior. Joe and I have been compromised a lot in the past year, and even though it's something silly like Starbucks, it sucks and I still feel violated. There was nothing I could do about it from inside Animal Kingdom, so I tried to put it out of my mind until we got back to the hotel.

It was time for our Dinosaur FP, so at least I had that to distract me.

Don’t worry ya’ll, we made it.

The rain had cleared out, so we walked over to EE, to use our anytime fastpass.

We like being a little dramatic.

We were unsure what to do next, wait times were longer than we would like, but thankfully AK has a lot of things to see. We walked over to Africa, to try and see the baby gorilla on the gorilla trail. We passed this cool Lion King Mural on the way.

Sadly, all those little side things to do and see close down at night, the Gorilla trails being one of them. We were feeling hungry, so we walked over to Pandora to get our favorite QS on property.

We mobile ordered on the way over, so we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. We decided to just split a beef bowl. Unfortunately for us there was absolutely no where to sit in the entire restaurant. They had two sections closed off, the inside was filled with diners, but the outside section was mostly filled with people just sitting around not eating. To say I was annoyed would be an understatement. We found a standing counter and ate our meal there. The bowl was outstanding, usually I get the cheeseburger pods, but this is now my go-to. I wish we could have sat down to enjoy it, but it was good nonetheless. Feeling slightly defeated by our less than perfect evening we decided to head out.

We noticed It’s Tough to be a Bug had no wait, so we decided to do one last thing before leaving.

This show is always good for a laugh at the unsuspecting people in the audience. We considered sticking around for Rivers of Light(we had a FP for it), but just didn’t feel like it, so we took the bus back to Coronado. Determined to end the night on a high note, we got ice cream at the QS. I went with soft serve, but Joe got his fave the premium Mickey bar. When we opened it, it had fallen off the stick. If that isn’t the perfect end to this evening I don’t know what it :rotfl2: .

I was able to call Starbucks when I got to the room. I was told that they used my card at a store in New Jersey and it would be referred to the fraud department. The agent was able to credit my account $25, which was nice to use while we were there. By the time I got home from Disney a new card had been issued to me with the original $86 on it. So in the end, it was fine, but it still sucked to have to deal with on vacation.

It turned out that the rain ended up canceling RoL, so it actually gave us an anytime fastpass good until the end of the following day, so I am glad we didn’t stick around. We facetimed the boys and turned in for the night.

We weren’t very impressed with this supposed haunted house.
Great picture though!
Yup. We literally made it to Splash under the wire.
I'm glad it worked out. Rookie mistakes are easy to make with the amount of planning and scheduling we're required to do. That one is simple to make! We had back to back FP for Splash and BTMRR and I don't know how many times I had to keep going back to look to remember which order they were.
I loved how you still had all the sights and sounds of Magic Kingdom, but didn’t have to deal with all the people:thumbsup2.
That's a good sales pitch for it... Never taken the time to get over there. Might have to change that.
Look at that line we skipped.
:thumbsup2 I love mobile ordering. I hope everyone else doesn't figure out how to use it.
I honestly don’t understand what the issue is, but it seems ridiculous that it should take 20 minutes just to scan your band. I get it. Saw a lot of this.
Scan the band... blue Mickey... 2 to 3 minutes of a CM explaining FP and how it works and how their 2 pm Small World FP can't be substituted for Space Mountain at 11 am. Or something to that effect. Get 2 or 3 of those people in short succession and a 20 minute line seems pretty much a given.
It’s hilarious that the kid behind us doesn’t want to be associated with us. I love that our embarrassment isn’t just limited to our own children.
That's how you know you do parenting right.
Winnie the Pooh and Tigger were out meeting. I really wanted to say hi, but I would have had to bowl over some kids to do that. I didn’t want to be THAT childless (for the week) Millenial.
Look, if you're going to be a childless (for the week) Millenial, own it, go all out and do it right!!!!
Who knew I'd have so many Friends gifs to use while talking about the Grand Floridian
I approve and admire your dedication and effort.

We made the executive decision to take the night off. I was super bummed to be sure, I always want to maximize my time in the parks as much as possible. Other than when we need to sleep, I want to be in the parks enjoying everything, so it killed me to stay behind.
I get that... that is exactly how I feel when I'm there. I want to be doing it all! Sorry you weren't feeling so well.

Well, that's good! Nice that you started feeling more like getting out. But Dinosaur and EE after not feeling well a couple of hours ago. You like to gamble don't you? :lmao:
Looks like a bus was on it’s way, but it kept getting pushed back. Joe and I were just relaxing in the shelter area, and a man in a white Disney van pulls up. He asks where we’re headed, and we tell him AK. He asks us if we would like a ride there.

To say I was annoyed would be an understatement.
That's absolutely ridiculous! Why on earth would they close off sections of the restaurant when there isn't adequate seating for those they're serving! Either kindly ask those not eating to leave or open more seating sections inside!
I was able to call Starbucks when I got to the room. I was told that they used my card at a store in New Jersey and it would be referred to the fraud department. I'm glad it worked out in the end, but that's definitely a frustration!
It turned out that the rain ended up canceling RoL, so it actually gave us an anytime fastpass good until the end of the following day, so I am glad we didn’t stick around. We facetimed the boys and turned in for the night.
That's a lucky break!

That's too bad that both of you weren't feeling well! I hope it wasn't the tea (although there aren't many things there, other than perhaps a sandwich filling, that could cause a food poisoning issue).

That is hysterical that you go into some stranger's van! :lmao: At least you were with other people so if you would've been murdered you would've all gone down together!

Despite the crowds I'm glad you got to enjoy a little time at AK. Is the mobile ordering pretty easy to figure out? This is new since my last visit and it seems like the best way to go to reduce your wait time.

I love ITTBAB, especially if there are first timers in the audience that don't know about some of the surprises. Don't get me wrong - I feel bad for the crying children but I laugh heartily at the freaked-out adults.

I'm sorry you guys weren't feeling well :( Glad you were able to bounce back and head to AK for a little. But ugh that stinks about the Starbucks card! I know in the end it all worked out but in the moment I know it was probably a bummer.

It's not funny, but I had to laugh about the Mickey bar falling off the stick. It really sums up your evening pretty well :rotfl: but hey a broken mickey bar is still better than none, right!

I thought i knew how to find info by now, but could you tell me where you found out about what time Gaston would be meeting?
