We. Are. CHUNKY! DISBoards Epic Girls Trip May 2019 THE END! Epilogue: Dream Cruise, Club 33 and a new TR!

The Disney Magic sails from NYC this time of year for it's fall cruises to Canada, Bahamas, and Bermuda. I work right by the water in NJ so I can see the NY port from my office. When it sails away on a work day I'm usually there outside as it sails down the Hudson River. I saw it leave early last week on a cruise to Bermuda. It had just completed it's transatlantic, and it actually docked early in NYC as it skipped a Canadian port to avoid the hurricane so i got to stare at it in port for an extra day. So when I saw it sailing away last week on the most perfect late afternoon, I felt pangs of regret for not booking a cruise from New York. I mean the port is right there!! I could be at port in about 20 mins!!
Amazing!!!!I know it skipped Halifax as it got hit really hard by hurricane Dorian. My poor husband was actually on a hiking trip on the Bay of Fundy during the hurricane, yikes!
Then...by the magic of some Disney friends, someone we met on our last NYC cruise in 2017 saw my pictures and contacted me. We had hung out a bit on that cruise and then also at WDW (where he works as an EMT). Him, his wife and son were going on a 5-night cruise from NYC to Bermuda in a few weeks, and asked if we wanted to join them. Because his wife works for DCL she gets huge discounts on a few staterooms, better than regular CM rates. Usually they travel with other family who use the other staterooms, but this time they were not. What! No way! I said, well, how good could this deal be. He told me the price and it was a good price per person but it was still too much money to plunk down for a trip unplanned. Then he said no it is the price for TWO people, including gratuities, and my jaw dropped to the ground. It was less than half the price of our 4-night Disney Dream cruise in May. I checked the dates, and realized I only needed to take 2.5 days off from work as when we dock back at port at 7:30am i could just head straight to work and be there by 9am probably. This could just work! I ran it quickly by Steve but my mind was already made up, LOL. We booked that very day and now I can say we are going on our 5th DCL cruise in 2 weeks! (Oct 17th to be exact!)
That is incredible.....so, so jealous!!!!!!
And we had to summon the force, of course,
Great pic and I love both dresses!
We made our way over to Toy Story Land where we all got on Slinky Dog! Lesley used her connections so that we could all ride at the same time (including @StarWarsMomofGirls! and her family) even though we did not all have FPs at exactly the same time, most of ours were overlapping though.
Love this!

It's so awesome reliving the May trip through your eyes. This Chunkylush needed that trip more than anyone will ever know so to see parts of it again just warms my soul ❤ ❤ ❤

What amazing news on your Disney cruise. I can't wait to hear how it is. We want to do a Disney cruise and one out of NY and Bermuda sounds much more practical then giving up some days in WDW :D

I'm so over the moon amazed at how lucky we are to get this deal, and we get to go to Bermuda on the Magic in 13 days!!!!

YAY!!! What an amazing blessing!

We commemorated with some pictures in front of Slinky Dog, but we forgot to do the Chunkydump! Sorry @Steppesister !

I don't think it was a thing quite yet.. ??? Not until the Tour which was a couple days later? So you're forgiven!

U4DwKUs.jpg
Buahahahaha! It was so funny to see it then and just as funny now! Love ya @Lesley Wake ;)

Hooray, your update is so much better with the pictures! :goodvibes

I'm very impressed with your "sleeping" picture on RNRC. I always think of having a fun pose on that ride photo - and yet every picture is me with a crazy face screaming my head off. I think it's impossible (definitely for me!) to not have a screaming face on that ride photo!

Like, we had another VIP tour! WHAT!?!
Always nice to have a fairy godmother... ;)
Alison who has been dubbed Chunkysax (@franandaj) and Jenny, whom I'm calling Chunkyenta (@rentayenta).
Those are great names!!
(Club 33 had been decorated for Halloween/HM's 50th so that's why there are tombstones and spooky decor/lighting)
That would've been cool to see. I mean it's cool enough in there (did you go to the lounge too?) already. But adding in Halloween decorations? Hello!
There's usually someone's arm or leg sticking in the frame.
Still keeping with the Halloween theme, I see.
I got us a same day FP for Spaceship Earth, so I got to oogle at these boots again:
Here's the thing... everyone (including me) looks at the groovy scientist lady. Did you know there's a guy on the other side?
I had no idea until my last trip!
This is my one and only good picture in front of that wall.
I highly doubt it's your only good picture. You don't take bad pictures...
Steve is finally learning how to take decent pictures! However it did come with a few outtakes like this:
… but that one's close.

:rolleyes1

:lmao:

Aww! :goodvibes
(She was wearing a Moana-print dress, how appropriate for the evening!)
::yes::
Steve had his Stitch Hawaiian shirt and I had my Hawaiian dress with pictures of hula Mickey and Minnie.
Perfect attire. :)
You can see the flowers in my hair below.
Pretty!
The flowers, too.
they do sell them in the Poly gift shop, but obviously marked up like 300%
300%??? Was there a sale?
Wow! I know she said she was doing some crafts for the group but it looked like she was about to put some art installation in the Poly!
But extremely thoughtful of her!
Speaking of crafts and gifts, Liesa gave us some beautiful cards with her own photos on them, pictures from various locations in Disney. Ariana got us some cute Mickey socks!!
Nice of them. :)
my own little tchotchke I got for everyone - a Mickey head - shaped key which doubles as a bottle opener. My sister made some tags and I wrote everyone's chunky name on it.
::yes::
And thanks again!
Steve and I sat on the table
Um… pretty sure there are chairs that you can sit on. Just how hungry were you guys!?!?!?
Steve managed to eat about 2 skewers of shrimp, or maybe just shy of it. That's almost 50 shrimp!
Atta boy. A man after my own heart.
But dessert was extra special as well because Doc made his cheesecake and brought it over.
Heard about that. I got one too! Yummy!
Lesley made fun of me when I said don't pour the sauce on it, so that everyone can customize the amount of sauce on their piece. ( I feel like I'm turning into Sally from When Harry Met Sally LOL)
Jenn came around and gave everyone a goodie bag! Inside were these awesome ears that she made. It was her first attempt at ears
Oh, wow! I hadn't heard about the ears. And... her first attempt?!?!? Impressive!
But the piece de resistance were these amazing, amazing handmade quilts that she gave to Lesley and I with pictures of us and the various DISmeets we've had over the years printed on fabric and sewn into the quilt itself. OMG I could not believe Jenn made them, and for us!!! I teared up with I saw them, they are the most special gifts ever!
Those are amazing! Very nice!
Happy group. :)
We sung happy birthday to Jackie and Liesa, I believe Lesley has the video on her TR.
::yes:: I believe so. I know I've seen it. :)
Mary had the syrup from the bread pudding accidentally dripped on her. I'm sure some of us thought of just licking her clean, hahaha
but it basically got all over her dress, down her back, it was bad.
Oh, geez. That's not good... or was it?...
Our server told her that they would be paying for the dry cleaning of her dress, and that she could go downstairs to the gift shop and PICK OUT ANY DRESS SHOPPE DRESS to wear right then.
Very impressive. And exactly how that should be handled.
What amazing customer service. Next time I'm there I am going to slather myself in syrup and see if they will compensate me with a new dress too. You think that will work? :rotfl:
Well... if not... um... Steve will certainly lend a... um... hand... I'm sure.
Great group. And Liesa doing the Chunkydump again, I see. :)
We went back upstairs to the security line for the monorail but suddenly there was commotion and we realized that Liesa's mom had fainted!
Read about that over on Liesa's TR. So glad her mom was okay.
(Liesa was upgraded from CSR to GF as you've read in her TR).
::yes::
At WL, we made our way to Geyser Point. It was my first time there, and lo and behold they managed to secure us a prime spot for lounging in front of the water, so when the EWP went by we had the perfect view as well!
Nice spot!
Wow. So much work!
Awwwwww…. :)

I don't know why, but my life just gets busier and busier, I thought I'd have it all together by now but I'm still running around like crazy.
Oh don't worry. It only gets worse.
Him, his wife and son were going on a 5-night cruise from NYC to Bermuda in a few weeks, and asked if we wanted to join them. Because his wife works for DCL she gets huge discounts on a few staterooms, better than regular CM rates.
Nice! How could you not?
He told me the price and it was a good price per person but it was still too much money to plunk down for a trip unplanned. Then he said no it is the price for TWO people, including gratuities, and my jaw dropped to the ground.
I said... How could you not??????
I ran it quickly by Steve but my mind was already made up, LOL.
"Steve? Could we maybe do this? Think carefully on your answer. There's only one right answer. That answer is yes. Now go ahead, dear."
We booked that very day and now I can say we are going on our 5th DCL cruise in 2 weeks! (Oct 17th to be exact!)
Woot! Coming up fast!
I was thinking of being there on new years eve itself but now that I don't really have a full day off that day I am not sure it is worth it to get there later and battle all the crowds.
oy.
I was in MK for NYE in 1978. Never again. Just a mob and not at all enjoyable.
Then again... the fireworks were spectacular.
Now big big plans mean big big hair
I do the exact same thing.

My sister sent my family this lovely picture telling everyone how I was left at the dock. #sisterlylove
:lmao:
At least my hair looked somewhat good.
Hair looks great!
And our favorite little round droid:
He does get a round, doesn't he?
I don't remember when CS met Kylo but she's either heartbroken or faking palpitations:
Or both!
And we had to summon the force, of course,
Of course. It's what's done.
I wore my special Star Wars magic band which is R2 and Leia themed:
I like it!
OMG! Vampiric chipmunks! Run Su-Lynn! Run!!!!
We met up with a bunch of Epic ladies who were also in the park for May the 4th. @Elevationist , @Lesley Wake , @IowaTater , @disneyAndi14 , @missjackiemcg , @Pluto0809 , and @Mollydolly334 were all there! @fallonkendra and Luke were also there as well.
Holy cow! I had no idea they were all there. We bumped into Jackie and Arianne, but didn't see anyone else.
guess who was the Rebel Spy?!?

Well, it was actually half of Molly and half of Lesley who was the spy so let's just call her Mosley LOL.
Note that hair is still intact:
Check.
We commemorated with some pictures in front of Slinky Dog, but we forgot to do the Chunkydump! Sorry @Steppesister !
This is a tragedy.
Note that my hair survived Slinky Dog too.
Check the check.
Love this pic! All the cool girls out for a spin to the diner.
Note hair is still ok.
Checkitty check.
We did not want to fill up because we had a lot of eating to do later.
#firstworldproblems
Awwww....
Everyone said how funny Su-Queen was, but that's probably because she was telling stories about me. Don't believe anything she says!:rotfl:
 I want to meet her now!
And you laughed at Lesley falling asleep???

;)

 WHAAAAAT?! That is SO exciting, OMG!!! And, from someone still recover from NYE at Disney from 2 years ago, I think the sacrifices you made to make this cruise happen are well worth it!;)
Haha yeah I think so too!
Wow, what exciting news on your upcoming cruise! I understand why you couldn't turn it down. Have a wonderful time!

I know May the 4th was a letdown in terms of the park's "special events" but it appears you made the most of it. I'm thrilled you were able to get on several attractions with the EPIC ladies and enjoyed a nice lunch at Sci-Fi. I'm also glad your hair did so well that day! :goodvibes
Thank you! Leaving tomorrow!! Can't believe it's here!

May the 4th is not really a big celebration at WDW (at least not before Star Wars Land opened but I can see how this could change going forward) but it's more for bragging rights from Star Wars fans to other Star Wars fans, to say you were in DHS on May the 4th, LOL.

Thank goodness! Since I can't see the photos I've been worried about the hair.
The hair was the bane of my existence that day. :rolleyes1
Actually the "mane" of my existence... :rotfl:
So extremely cool about the cruise AND it's right around the corner!!! How exciting!
Thank you! We leave tomorrow!!
That is AWESOME! And what a great deal!
Thanks! It was the most amazing deal!!
Exciting news about going on the DCL at such a great price!
Thank you!! We were so lucky!!
So exciting you are going on a cruise in 2 weeks! I hit the 100 day mark for our cruise today, got some bad news this morning (nothing major just disappointing) so finding out Im at the 100 day mark made up for it!
Aww for the sucky news but yay on hitting double digits now!!
So exciting about the cruise!!! That will be so much fun!!
thank you I cannot wait until tomorrow!!
Yup... well, the force controlled by the Sandman maybe?
Yes, obviously!! :rotfl:
I can't believe that crazy deal for your cruise! Wow! How very kind of your Disney friends to invite you—I'm sure it will be worth having to sacrifice a few days at New Years.

Your May the 4th antics looked like fun!
I will be sad to miss Lesley and Jackie and Ariane and whoever else is going to be there...but I'm pretty sure I'll see them again some other time! :)
YEAH!!!! WE were so excitied to be there for this day! Even though it was so busy!
Me too! It just had to be done as SW fans!
We are so far back you can't see my short self! I am glad that we overlapped a little today!
LOL yes you are back there somewhere!! It was a fun ride! I like taking up most of the ride cars!! :)
Your hair looked beautiful and you are as sweet and funny as your sister!

This was a fun morning and lunch even though we bored Lesley to sleep :rotfl:

I’m so excited for you to take a cruise with Disney friends and at a great price, wow!!
Thank you Caroline!! :)
Yeah apparently Lesley did not find us entertaining. The dark space in Sci Fi did not help either, haha.

I'm so excited! We leave tomorrow!
If it survived Slinky - I bet it will! ;)
Hehehehe...

Congrats on the spontaneous cruise! I can imagine how hard it had to be to resist booking a trip when the port is right outside your window! The temptation would be too much!
Obviously, it was too much for me!
Sounds like a fun May the 4th morning. I love your Mickey ears for the day!
Thank you! It was fun!
I'm equally impressed with the sleeping RNRC photo; that took some concentration.
It took me about 10 years to actually do it correctly, haha.
Wow. What an amazing cruise deal. Definitely couldn’t pass that up .

Great start to the day . Fingers crossed your hair makes it through the day ; )
Thanks! I leave in a few hours and I'm so excited!
Amazing!!!!I know it skipped Halifax as it got hit really hard by hurricane Dorian. My poor husband was actually on a hiking trip on the Bay of Fundy during the hurricane, yikes!
Oh crazy! Hope he was not too impacted!
Yeah hurricanes are no joke!
That is incredible.....so, so jealous!!!!!!
I'm still in shock I'll be departing in a few hours!
Great pic and I love both dresses!
Thank you!
It's so awesome reliving the May trip through your eyes. This Chunkylush needed that trip more than anyone will ever know so to see parts of it again just warms my soul ❤ ❤ ❤
KARI I miss you! Where has my Chunkylush been?
What amazing news on your Disney cruise. I can't wait to hear how it is. We want to do a Disney cruise and one out of NY and Bermuda sounds much more practical then giving up some days in WDW :D
I know! It is just so much better to not have to fly anywhere!
YAY!!! What an amazing blessing!
Yes! Thanks to all the friends I have met through Disney who just encourage my Disney habits lol!
I don't think it was a thing quite yet.. ??? Not until the Tour which was a couple days later? So you're forgiven!
This was AFTER the VIP tour! It was the day after Ohana and by then the Chunkydump was already a thing. We let you down Liesa, LOL!
Buahahahaha! It was so funny to see it then and just as funny now! Love ya @Lesley Wake ;)
LOL!
Hooray, your update is so much better with the pictures! :goodvibes
Yay I'm glad I finally got it to work!
I'm very impressed with your "sleeping" picture on RNRC. I always think of having a fun pose on that ride photo - and yet every picture is me with a crazy face screaming my head off. I think it's impossible (definitely for me!) to not have a screaming face on that ride photo!
It took me years and years to do that! I'm always screaming too!
I'm so excited for your pixie dusted Disney Cruise news!! But sad that I think this means we'll miss seeing you in December 😭
I know! I was most bummed about that part about not seeing you guys, but I'm sure it will mean we'll just have to meet up another time!!
Wow how exciting to book the Disney Cruise! I swear those last minute trips are often the most fun just because there isn't much waiting involved!! lol
Exactly! I only have a few more hours at work before I board the Magic!
Sounds like a nice morning at DHS! Your hair did look fab so it was definitely worth the delay! lol
Hehehe thanks!

Always nice to have a fairy godmother... ;)
Yep, tee hee :)
Those are great names!!
And very fitting I think! We also call Fran Chunkywind!
That would've been cool to see. I mean it's cool enough in there (did you go to the lounge too?) already. But adding in Halloween decorations? Hello!
It was super cool!
Of course we went to the lounge. You know who's company we were in!! :)
Still keeping with the Halloween theme, I see.
Of course.
Here's the thing... everyone (including me) looks at the groovy scientist lady. Did you know there's a guy on the other side?
I had no idea until my last trip!
What guy?
I highly doubt it's your only good picture. You don't take bad pictures...
Thanks! (silently deletes all 5468 other bad pictures)
… but that one's close.

:rolleyes1

:lmao:
Only bad pic I'm allowing people to see, LOL
Pretty!
The flowers, too.
Thanks! :)
300%??? Was there a sale?
Clearance!!
But extremely thoughtful of her!
:)
::yes::
And thanks again!
You're welcome and thanks for the Canadian treats!
Um… pretty sure there are chairs that you can sit on. Just how hungry were you guys!?!?!?
Famished. Rolling on table famished.
Atta boy. A man after my own heart.
Hmm do I hear shrimp challenge?
Heard about that. I got one too! Yummy!
You got a whole cake?!? Wow.
Oh, wow! I hadn't heard about the ears. And... her first attempt?!?!? Impressive!
Most impressive.
Those are amazing! Very nice!
Yes!!
Happy group. :)
Chunky group!
Very impressive. And exactly how that should be handled.
Right?
Well... if not... um... Steve will certainly lend a... um... hand... I'm sure.
Hahaha he will stick tissues on me....for fun.
Great group. And Liesa doing the Chunkydump again, I see. :)
But of course!
Read about that over on Liesa's TR. So glad her mom was okay.
Whew! It was scary for a moment.

Oh don't worry. It only gets worse.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Nice! How could you not?
I said... How could you not??????
I do as told.
"Steve? Could we maybe do this? Think carefully on your answer. There's only one right answer. That answer is yes. Now go ahead, dear."
Correct!
oy.
I was in MK for NYE in 1978. Never again. Just a mob and not at all enjoyable.
Then again... the fireworks were spectacular.
That's what I was expecting. I am hoping to actually do it one year but I'm not clamoring for it.
Hair looks great!
Thanks!!
He does get a round, doesn't he?
ROFL must be something he does...all the time. :rotfl:
OMG! Vampiric chipmunks! Run Su-Lynn! Run!!!!
It's ok I'm a vampire too.
Holy cow! I had no idea they were all there. We bumped into Jackie and Arianne, but didn't see anyone else.
We were all there!
Love this pic! All the cool girls out for a spin to the diner.
:)
 I want to meet her now!
Hmm maybe not.
And you laughed at Lesley falling asleep???

;)
Mine took a bit more effort....:D

And very fitting I think! We also call Fran Chunkywind!
Why???
It was super cool!
Of course we went to the lounge. You know who's company we were in!! :)
Just making sure. :)
What guy?
Knew it.
Thanks! (silently deletes all 5468 other bad pictures)
:rolleyes1
You're welcome and thanks for the Canadian treats!
:)
Famished. Rolling on table famished.
:lmao:
Hmm do I hear shrimp challenge?
No you do not.
My appetite is not what it once was.
If I was 20 years younger? Sure! But now? He'd easily beat me.
You got a whole cake?!? Wow.
::yes::
Hahaha he will stick tissues on me....for fun.
Thanks for the encouragement!
You're very welcome.

It's ok I'm a vampire too.
I know people have said you're a bit batty, but...

(I never said that, of course.)

Yay! Due to your being over busy and away on a cruise, I'm all caught up again.

Nice that you got to meet up with so many people, and encountered so much pixie dust on the rides!

What a great deal on your cruise! I bet you are having a blast right now!

Yes! Thanks to all the friends I have met through Disney who just encourage my Disney habits lol!

::yes::
This was AFTER the VIP tour! It was the day after Ohana and by then the Chunkydump was already a thing. We let you down Liesa, LOL!
Still time to make up for it. It needs to infiltrate the Disney ships!! Take a squat on the boat! ;)

Well she does play 2 wind instruments.
Why, what were you thinking of?!?
Just making sure. :)
:)
No you do not.
My appetite is not what it once was.
If I was 20 years younger? Sure! But now? He'd easily beat me.
Hmm, that still sounds like a challenge. Sure, claim the age thing.
I know people have said you're a bit batty, but...

(I never said that, of course.)
I do bat my eyelashes quite a bit.
Yay! Due to your being over busy and away on a cruise, I'm all caught up again.
Haha, I know! I'm so behind on everyone else's too!
Nice that you got to meet up with so many people, and encountered so much pixie dust on the rides!
It was a great May the 4th!
What a great deal on your cruise! I bet you are having a blast right now!
It was so much fun!! The seas were a little rough though coming home. But i got my seabands on and it was ok in the end, but a lot of people were getting sick!
Woohoo you're in Bermuda now! I checked the port cam, looks because and way less windy than when we were there 2 weeks ago, hopefully the seas were not nearly as rough for your guys either!
Bermuda was so nice! The seas going down was a little rocky, around Bermuda was lovely, but coming back was really rough!! I had to use my seabands for the first time. It's pretty cool how they work though!
Still time to make up for it. It needs to infiltrate the Disney ships!! Take a squat on the boat! ;)
Haha I'm sure I did plenty of that on the cruise. But we need to make it an Epic Girl's Trip like in 2023!!

Well she does play 2 wind instruments.
Why, what were you thinking of?!?
Nothing! Nothing at all! Nope! Nothing...
Hmm, that still sounds like a challenge. Sure, claim the age thing.
Okay, fine. It's on! Just gimme a day's notice to not eat breakfast.
I do bat my eyelashes quite a bit.
This is true. You did that at me. That's when Steve got jealous and challenged me to a shrimp off.

Hi Everyone! We are back from our cruise! It was a 5-night Bermuda Cruise on the Disney Magic leaving from NYC. We got back last week Tuesday morning in NYC, and did early walk off the boat at around 7:15am. I got an Uber to get to my work in NJ, and Steve took the subway down to his workplace. I took our luggage and stored it in our car (I park in a lot by work) then walked into work right at 8:35am. It can be done everyone!!

Here are a few pics from the cruise: (UPDATE: pictures should be showing up, I hope!)

Just about to board the Disney Magic!! Oh how I love this ship so much. I actually feel very much at home on the Magic even though it's only my 3rd voyage on it. I loved seeing the Tangled show and then dining at Rapunzel's Royal Table. So fun!

And our dashing cruise director himself, fancy Mickey, all dolled up for semi-formal night:

We had almost a day and a half in Bermuda and it was just lovely. The weather was great, just some clouds on the 2nd day which was nice as it didn't make it too hot.

This pic was taken by my friend Jeff the EMT. He works at Reedy Creek Fire Dept and he works at Disney a few days a week. We were traveling with him, his wife and son, and another couple and we all had a blast. Here we are in Bermuda with the Magic in the background:

Thanks to those of you who followed along on Instagram! I saved the stories under a highlight so you can see it at any time. We did some funny stuff.

I will probably start a new TR on the cruise boards in the future. So stay tuned on that.

Anyways it's back to the Epic Girls Trip...it's May the 4th, and our Wind and Dine around the world!! Did my hair stay up? Do we eat everything that we want to? Do we have fun during our illuminations cruise? Hmmm....stay tuned and find out.
