Canadian Resident Offer is available!

Just an FYI if anyone would like to know, I submitted for the following via the AMs Personal Shopper service:

7 day, park hopper, CDN resident, September 6-15, 2020.

This came back with a quote of 6250 AMs each.

This works out to a difference of about 1,200 AMs/ticket and I’m not sure if I feel that’s worth it for me.

I think I will just pick-up the non-hoppers from AMs and call Disney to see if I can add the hoppers for the discounted rate. If I can’t, I’ll either just take the hit or figure out how to work within the non-hopper limitations.

Once I get a hold of Disney and see if I can add the hoppers for the discount I’ll post again and let you guys know how I fair.
The quote you got from the Personal Shopper is right in line with what others have been reporting, comes in around 14.2 miles/ 1 USD

Now regarding the extra miles and how you decide to handle it becomes a case of how much you're willing to risk being able to do the upgrade with the non-hopper currently available. The answer you get over the phone might not be what will actually happen when you try to complete the upgrade. The discount will be over by the time you head down so they won't be able to upgrade without you losing the discount & I highly doubt you'd be able to do the upgrade over the phone before you go. Not only that, the chance that you'll get someone who even understands what you want to do is fairly low. These are just my thoughts BTW, no personal experience in attempting to upgrade these tickets.

How would we handle this? 100% go with the personal shopper quote to get the exact ticket we want before we go but then I'm not a risk taker!! We also prefer to have as much paid for in CDN funds as possible before we leave. You have lots of time before your trip and you *should* be able to earn those miles before the discount is over. You can always submit another request if you need the time to snag the miles. Again, just my thoughts!!

Yeah, I'll have to think about it. I do agree with you I should just get what I specifically want but I don't have enough AMs right now for 2 tickets (which is what I would need). I would need to earn 3723 more miles by February and then hope that the tickets haven't gone up in price via the personal shopper when I make a new request.

I'm not a power earner exactly, I do Blue Fridays (usually about 1000AMs/Friday) and I do the big promos but I have no idea if there's even going to be a big end-year promo like usual (it seems like AMs is all putting their money into contests - I do not make efforts for these, because spending money to "maybe" get AMs doesn't thrill me lol). I also occasionally supplement with Rexall if I can get 200AMs for $50-$75 but other than that I don't go out of my way for the smaller offers.

I guess I'll just wait until at least November and see if Shop the Block comes back (hopefully at the same AMs rate, was it 2000 bonus or 2500? I can't recall) but even this may be a problem because I believe I didn't get the bonus AMs until April or May which would obviously be too late. I'm just not sure if it's in the cards for me to earn that many AMs before the offer ends.

I suppose I could pick up one personal shopper hopper and then if I can get enough miles to pick up another, that's great, but if I don't then I could fall back on the AMs no hopper flex ticket and deal with it at the park when I get there This would save me a bit of money at least. I'd still have to likely pay the full rate on the non-hopper to hopper but I won't have to do it twice.

I will ponder for a while, leaning towards getting the hopper and hoping to earn enough to get another.

Yes it’s not cheap . They get you by the number of days you go it gets cheaper by the day , but then if course once you are in you spend more and more money ..

Haven't been to Disney in 4 years and was just pricing out a trip for 3 adults and the prices have sky rocketed! Even tried off site and a single day ticket for 3 worked out to almost $450 CDN!!!

Booked a trip to Orlando at an offsite condo for January, but won't be visiting Disney due to costs. 😭 Anyone want to give me free Disney tickets I am willing to receive donations. :)
Go the the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a few hours. You can head out behind the main building and see the animals, talk to the CMs sit in the rocking chairs. Park at Disney Springs and play Disney transportation roulette -- get on the first bus and go to whichever resort it's headed to and then wander around, grab a snack, hop on the monorail and ride the loop to EPCOT. Take a bus to one of the resorts that has the Skyliner and ride that for a bit. This will give you a tiny taste of Disney and not cost too much.

Have purchased tickets under the Canadian Resident offer. I understand I have to go to a ticket booth with my order #, ID and credit card to pick up the actual tickets.

Plan on hitting Typhoon Lagoon the day before our first onsite reservation - so won't have magic bands yet.

My question is - where is the easiest/fastest place to drop in and pick up my tickets the morning I want to head to Typhoon Lagoon????

Thanks.

Well I have added my Air MIles Canadian Resident non parkhopper ticket to my MDX and don't see anyplace on there where you can add parkhopper. Going to call Disney and see what they say.
Love to hear response as we are thinking about this for march

I would go to Disney Springs. It's super close to Typhoon Lagoon and likely won't have lines at Guest Services like the theme parks will.

Re ID requited- my niece may join us on our upcoming Disneyland trip Dec 5-7, she would get the 3 day Canadian hopper, what sort of ID can she show? I don't think she will have anything with an address on it? Will her passport be ok? I think that's what we showed when we last did Canadian ticket discount?

Passport is what they want.

So we have an upcoming trip at the beginning of Dec- we actually only need tickets for 1 of the 3 days...if we buy the 3 day Canadian ticket discount tickets and only use 1 day, the other 2 expire correct? There is no way to keep them/transfer to other tickets right?

Your guesses are correct. You must purchase a full priced package (hotel and tickets) to get free dining. The tickets are final sale, but you may upgrade them. I have found it cheaper to get hotel plus ticket discounts and pay meals OPP than free dining. I like table service meals, but tips are extra for free dining and they add up. Also there is less flexibility with free dining to us. Sometimes we would be interested in trying the appetizers instead of the main entrees. We did Deluxe free dining once and there was too much food. Having appetizer and dessert every meal was too much. No more free dining for us now!
agreed, free dining isn’t free when you have to pay rack rates for the room, and full price for tickets. We always got free dining when it was a good deal. But prices kept creeping up, while cutting back on the dining plan options. I remember when Appies and tips were included in DDP. Then they stopped offering the full DDP at moderates and cut it to QSDP.
Our first time off the DDP we bought a gift card for what DDP cost, and used that only for dining. We had a TS & QS daily, ate what we wanted, and came away with quite a bit of $ left on the card.
Free dining works for some, but we find better value with room and ticket discounts, and pay OOP for meals.

Yup, it is a sticker shock. WDW prices have skyrocketed. Of course a one day ticket is the worst value. Last year we skipped WDW entirely and went to Universal instead. Much better value.

Sorry nope. Non expiring tickets have gone the way of the Dodo bird.

Spoke to WDW about adding parkhopper to my airmiles Canadian ticket. They said that I'd have to do it in person since they don't know the value of the ticket since it wasn't purchased through Disney. Not sure how guest services will have any better idea than online guest services. So, they were basically no help whatsoever. Hard to plan a vacation with express passes if you don't know if you can parkhop or not.

Maybe someone else can call and see if they get a different answer.

Unfortunately when we call or use the online chat it's highly unlikely that the person we connect with has much more knowledge what we do! Disney isn't much different than any other company in that they have out-sourced a ton of their call centres and now you run the real chance of talking to someone who has never even been to a park! I'm afraid this is a situation where you do in fact need to wait until you're "boots on the ground" and dealing with someone who can actually SEE the ticket by scanning your ticket (if you have something "hard") or your magic band before you'll get a semi-solid answer. It SUCKS that we're not able to *buy* the exact ticket we want from AM anymore and that no-one seems to understand the actual value of the tickets we DO have access to !!!

The person I talked to was in ticket sales so she seemed to know what she was talking about. Unfortunately at Disney, it makes a difference having the exact ticket you want well in advance of getting there. Since they created this situation of having to book your fastpasses way in advance, they should make sure that they have a system of ticket management to accommodate their various tickets. In my case it is an issue because I am the only one in the party without a parkhopper so it creates a problem since we would like to actually tour together, lol. They really should just go back to having a simple fee to add parkhopper instead of this total value nonsense.

I suggest to others that you make sure you are aware of this situation before you purchase. It may be no issue adding parkhopper once I get there but it actually is still an issue since we cannot arrange parkhopping and fastpasses in advance.

I'm just about to book tickets but am really confused - can I not book fast passes in advance and link the tickets to my account/band?

The only thing different about these tickets is that before you can enter a park you need to show proof of residency at a guest services location. Everything else is exactly the same, you can make FP+ and they will be attached to your account and on your magic band.
